Pros: amazing view, big balcony, beautiful hot bath!
Cons: checkout at 11:00 (I think all Japanese hotels must rethink their point of view about checkouts before noon!)

Pros: The food is very very good!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Authentic experience of living in a ryokan. The Onsen was amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent location and extraordinary onsen plus delicious traditional Japanese meal
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The special Ryokan experience. Staffs are really welcoming and helpful. The best ever stay we had.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The way to experience the “real” Japan.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The service was stunning in every respect. The food was delicious and plentiful. The hotel had the charm of being very old, but was very well maintained and renovated in parts, so it was very clean and comfortable.
Cons: It would have been nice if there was water in the changing area for the onsen. There is water available, but you have to go outside of the changing area to get the drinking water. The onsen is very hot and so you might require a drink as soon as you get to the changing area. Otherwise, it was excellent!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything is outstanding.
Cons: makes me fat as the food is very very delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Furuya Ryokan is the best place that I have stayed in Japan for the last trip. Japanese traditional facilities, Onsen and foods, high standard service level.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: From check in to check out, the service was outstanding. When we arrived, the staff came out to greet us. Check-in was smooth. I actually ended up paying at the end of the stay, which was unexpected as I'm used to paying in the beginning. We stayed in a room with a private onsen with half board included as a splurge for our trip, and we felt spoiled! The room started with an entryway with a fridge stocked with beverages. The bathroom consists of three rooms: a large bath/shower room, a toilet room (with double ply toilet paper!), and the vanity area with sink and a drying rack. The living room has a low table, which can be exchanged for a regular table and chairs. Air conditioning can be controlled in the room. From here, there is a small balcony. The next room is like a resting room with thick pads that you can rest and relax on. The last room was a room with a low table and two chairs. The private onsen outside is luxurious! The water temperature can be controlled by hot onsen water or cold water. It is very private with the use of bamboo like fencing. We went in multiple times, and would recommend this for couples or families that want to enjoy an onsen together. When we arrived to our room, we received green tea and a traditional sweet. We were left alone until our dinnertime. Dinner was a feast! It was a treat to be able to try so many different traditional Japanese dishes. We were overwhelmed by the decadence of the meal. Breakfast also consisted of many dishes, and I couldn't even eat everything since I was full from the dinner before. Kimiko san was the staff member who served our dinner and breakfast in room; she was the epitome of white glove service. She was attentive and explained our meals to us, even with the language barrier. It was a treat to be served by her! If possible, I would recommend staying here for a truly unforgettable experience!
Cons: Unfortunately, the view from the balcony is of high rise buildings, instead of the ocean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So, as a gaikokojin, ,you are pretty afraid the first time at ryokan/Onsen.this is SUCH a good experience. Amazing hospitality and most wonderful kaiseki cuisine. But, the hot bath (private) is the best. My Japanese is poor, your English is better, THANK YOU!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely perfect to stay in the hot spring tub and watch the green hills in front. The breakfast is amazing although a little too much is you want to taste everything, which I did!... The interior of the rooms in modern Japanese style is great. The shuttle bus is available upon reservation and will bring you to the station even during the stay.
Cons: Not very much to improve!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything . Staff are amazing and the food is just simply wonderful (you have to love Japanese food). The private hot spring bath in each room is pure luxury. Loved it and we will be back again. This was our second stay and we look forward to other stays.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fanatastic and the hotel has very few rooms so the ambiance feels super intimate. There was no language barrier experienced during my stay. The onsen on the balcony with the view was spectacular.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality is phenomenal! From picking you up from the train station to the luxurious facilities! Amazing!
Cons: A bit pricey for not getting dinner included

Cons: No elevator
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything, especially dinner and breakfast. The bath in room with the view is great
Cons: NA
7.1 Good
Cons: The dinner was not as good as expected. Its not bad at all (one exception was the extremely salty little fish, probably that was an error) , but not as fantastic as other similar hotel (with similar price, and private hot bath) which we have tried in japan before
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bath on the balcony with the view.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good atmosphere with excellent view. The staff is utmost attending. The only thing to note is that driving is recommended for this location - it is up on the hill with little public transportation.
Cons: None.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our honeymoon! The staff was amazing and the food was even better. We spent two days relaxing and enjoying the private hot springs and views. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have one of the best experiences of their life! We would go back in a heartbeat!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was a really nice, comfortable and very traditional Japanese onsen hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We love the long history cave onsen inside the hotel.
Cons: We need to pay during we hold the hotel in the Internet, we expect we can pay during we stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Upon arrival we were greeted by an incredibly welcoming young man, upon a little small talk it turned out he recently visited Ireland (where my fiancé is from) which gave an instant warmth to our visit. The room was gorgeous & ideal for anyone looking for a traditional Japanese hostel; the view was equally beautiful looking out across the Pacific Ocean! The self-serve breakfast was a combination of Japanese & Western dishes ideal for most diets as you're able to enjoy food of your choosing. It was all delicious. Finally, it can be difficult for people with tattoos to experience an onsen but there were no word against us using the facilities which were humble but very relaxing- you must try them if you stay here~
7.9 Good
Pros: The atmosphere of this hotel is very comfortable. There are many toys and entertainments, either adults or kids will have fun in the public living room. When you had a tired journey in Atami , back to the hotel, sink yourself into the bathing pool, relax in the massage armchair, then play card game with your friends in the living room, that's perfect!!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing for families with excellent play facilities and an impressive toy collection.
5.4 Okay
Pros: It has a nice view for the ocean. But this is considered as normal in Atami because the city is facing the ocean.
Cons: On the day that we checked out, We came back and picked up our luggage after a long walk in the city. Before the taxi came and picked us up, we asked the reception whether we can get a glass a water because we were thirsty after a long day. The reception said no. He said they would only offer water for people that check in but not people that check out. What a joke. I would never ever stay in this hostel anymore. Customer service is terrible.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: expect shuttle bus pickup service
10.0 Excellent

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good staff, wide lounge, close to sea side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So clean and aesthetically pleasing. I'm 183cm (6 feet) and could stand up comfortably in my capsule. Very spacious, beautiful, and accommodating. Great food options and in an ideal part of town, too.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is a great place with a good vibe, all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Chiho the manager is incredibly helpful and nice, she gave me maps and took the time to recommend places based on what I was personally interested in. It’s in a very convenient location, walking distance to a lot of things. Breakfast is rice and miso soup, and you can go across the road to purchase a fish of your choice to cook on the bbqs out the front of the hostel to have with breakfast - I highly recommend. The bbq smell of fish (delicious smell) does make its way through from the front cafe to the common area behind so just know this if this will bother you, it’s a great smell but you might smell like it too if you sit there long enough.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and very comfortable
Cons: The door is very loud
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing, wonderful and always-smiling staff, high, comfortable and convenient capsule (can stand up, with door lock), nice fish-cookers, great food and breakfast, fantastic facilities, and very good location. 9.2 Excellent
Pros: Just 3 minutes walk from the beach. Nicely decorated. Functional kitchen. The capsule was actually quite spacious.
Cons: Kind of noisy when people close the capsule's door at night. Other than that, nothing to complain.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: staff is kind and helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helped point out things to do in Atami.

Pros: Very traditional Japanese style. The hot spring is awesome
Cons: The staff is not very good at English. This hotel is not in the Atami, but the other small town close to Atami, which is called Ajiro. It takes 15min train to get there from Atami
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is spectacular. The hotel is close to the train station and about ten minutes to Atami one way and Ito the other. Private onsens are very good, shared are very good as well. The room was huge with a nice balcony and the wait staff are lovely. The views over the bay are really good. Very good value for the money.
Cons: The town is very quiet so if you aren't eating at the hotel it is best to eat at Ito or Atami. The road between the hotel and the foreshore is busy.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Very nice and helpful lady running the place. She’s a gem!
Cons: More pillows
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing. We chose this location just to have a leisure day before we flew home. The local supermarkets are close and the hosts are extremely helpful and picked us up and dropped us off from the train station.
Cons: There is no elevator so you will have to drag your bags up flights of stairs.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovel room with beautiful views over the iocean. The hosts were extremely helpful with transporting us to a garden we wanted to see and in taking us to the station.
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: We traveled by car and it was not easy to find this place, especially as we booked 'Atami Koro' and the signage is "Red House". However, the welcome was very warm! The hostess was very lovely and kind, although she hardly speaks any English. The room itself was nice and clean and had a little view of the ocean. The shared facilities are very clean. A huge roof terrace is available for guests with BBQ, however, should there be a party you probably hear everything in your room. The breakfast was good, but not really Japanese: two delicious home baked onion bread rolls, a cup of corn soup, 2 half eggs and a little bowl of salad.
Cons: Generally the place is quite noisy and in several parts it needs attention. As the place has rather a 'hostel' feeling, we think that the price was too high....said this, unknowingly we traveled in Japan's 'Golden Week'. :-( The place is quite some km away from Atami city and although it was 'high season' there were hardly any restaurants open, or closed already at 7.00/7.30 pm, ended up in one of those chain BBQ restaurants.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staffs were accommodating.
Cons: Shared bathroom.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The friendlyness of the hosts. They took us for free with their shuttle to the fireworks in Atami. The terrace. A large open space on the roof of the building with sun chairs and a view of the village and ocean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is relaxing and super clean
Cons: Staff is very kind
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The couple went out of their way to meet our needs, providing lifts to Atami, collecting us from the station at Ito, giving tips about good places to eat. The people who run the business are so kind and welcoming

7.5 Good
Pros: great location on the water front. but have to walk up hill or take taxi to the station. excellent suite size and view
Cons: no wifi in rooms. had to go to the lobby or restaurant. burdensome since I only had sims card and that was saved for use outside of the hotel. not great English speaking staff since away from typical tourist areas. not alot of restaurants. atami ginza is their restaurant row, which had a few places, nothing special.
5.4 Okay
Pros: excellent onsen . nice room for three people with a sea view.
Cons: very cold lobby. no lounge. bad welcoming specially at the restaurant desk. and only japonese breakfast.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hot springs facilities was wonderful and the hotel room was great! It was across from the beach so location was nice.
Cons: The hotel didn’t have a shuttle option and was not very helpful. It was difficult to get luggage to and from the station because of the hills. They should offer pick up and drop off options. The staff seemed confused and hesitant versus friendly and helpful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: great location! fantastic rooftop Onsen!!
Cons: no WI-FI in the rooms
7.5 Good
Pros: Good sized room and clean and modern. Great shower
Cons: Breakfast was average. Wanted to have dinner at the restaurant due to raining outside and got a straight out no because they were supposedly fully booked which was not true
7.1 Good
Pros: The location is great. Right next to the beach. Has bus to atami station right in front of the hotel. Great view from the room and the dinning room for breakfast. Room is comfortable, although right next to the main road but noise reduction is good. Very comfortable onsen.
Cons: Communication was a bit difficult. We messaged the hotel right after booking asking about the additional person staying. Hotel only replied after the deadline for free cancellation was past to tell us there will be additional charge (and it’s quite expensive). We had our hotel in Tokyo to help to call and communicate before-head to make sure we don’t want additional bed for the extra person, but we are ok with the payment. They agreed on the phone, but by the time we arrival we’ve been told we have to take an extra bed. I wish the whole communication was more efficient and more clear. Saw giant cockroach in the women’s rest room at the onsen. With the high charged price of the room, the hotel should spent some money to fix their LED light outside. Why do only the men’s onsen get to see the 11th floor view but the women’s has to be on the 8th? It should be swept from time to time so we all get equal opportunity for a great view.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Poor breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: refined excellent Dinner AND amazingly beautiful breakfast
Cons: musac in lounge.Must stop
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good experiences
