7.9 Good
Pros: 1. Great staff, very helpful and accommodating. 2. Due to a lack of organising on our part we required a check out a day earlier which the hotel accommodated and there was no extra charge. 3. Superb/excellent breakfast which is set outside your room and delivered as table service. 4. Location is briliant! Close to everything. 5. Clean and tidy. 6. Good for couples. 7. Excellent size room and furnishings.
Cons: 1. Rooms based in the courtyard are open to disruption, especially on the morning. But otherwise it is queit and peaceful. 2. You must buzz in if returning late night. It woild be useful for guests to uave a key to main front door. Especially if you are a smoker and smoking is not allowed in the hotel courtyard. 3. Due to the nature of the building there is a lack of windows to rooms, but the property does have high vaulted celings. 4. Parking facilities are limited and guests are expected to park their car in another location and pay 50Q per night for the use of a enclosed manned parking space. 5. No robes of slippers are provided. 6. There is no complimentary tea or coffee in the room. But delivered to your room upon request. 7. Bathroom is is very small.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel San Rafael is very close to perfection, for all intent and purposes for us was perfection. We were lucky in our choice to celebrate our weeding here. The garden is absolutely amazing. The furniture is unique and provides a fantastic setting to the hotel. Breakfast is very enjoyable and tasty. We stayed in room n. 4. The furniture used provides a nice touch of class without being over pretentious, we loved the room. There is also a lovely terrace with stunning views. And we loved the staff who have been, without exception, very understanding and have met our expectations over and above any high standards one can expect. In a nutshell, this is most probably the best hotel in Antigua. Really, we were touched by everyone at the hotel who really made our stay and wedding fantastic. A special thanks also to the owners who have been very welcoming and also facilitated all the preparation for the wedding. Thank all so much, we hope to come back soon.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice atmosphere and rooms, good breakfast
Cons: Premium prices
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a gem of a property in a very central location. We fell in love with this unique hotel once we walked through the entrance and saw the beautiful interior garden. Each room is unique. We had no 7 which was very large with a really comfortable bed and so quiet away from the street noise. We absolutely highly recommend this property. The staff are friendly and really helpful and the breakfast is freshly cooked and delicious.
Cons: We loved everything.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: great location, great swimming pool size jacuzzi, excellent work out room, excellent staff.
Cons: The only weakness was the waitstaff not being familiar with the wine choices, and the quality of wine in the glass was not good possibly due to a bottle being open long. Malbec is not vino blanco.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved it!...great coffee
Cons: I did like it all....but would add cream for coffee in the carts where it is free
10.0 Excellent

Hotel Museo Spa Casa Santo Domingo - Antigua - Bedroom
3
9.3 Excellent (1,878 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Since its genesis, Casa Santo Domingo was the bastion of one of the grandest convents of America: the one that sheltered the followers of the order of Santo Domingo de Guzmn. It is an important part of the beautiful colonial reliquary that preserves in its bowels the treasures from the baroque period of ancestral America. Each corner of this house, each stone, each image and each piece that composes this Hotel Museum becomes a lost page in time, which one by one is joined forming a beautiful chapter of the grand book of our history. This innovative Hotel-Museum offers 130 rooms each with unique and special characteristics. The decoration includes works of art from renowned Guatemalan fine art artists and handmade textiles with traditional-contemporary designs. Offering the finest, we provide TV LCD with cable, telephone with voicemail, minibar, safety deposit box, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, magnification lighted vanity mirror, hypo-allergenic pillows (on request), bathrobes, twice-daily housekeeping service, chimney, high velocity internet, terrace, balcony, tub, jacuzzi or sauna (depending on selected room type). In our main restaurant "Refectorio del Prior" we prepare recipes under the concept of fusion cuisine, mixing ingredients from different countries and regions. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.

Pros: It’s overall architectural and historical beauty.
Cons: Nothing.
6.5 Good
Pros: Nice rooms. Pretty grounds.
Cons: Eerie music playing. Have to pay for wifi
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location!!!
7.9 Good
Pros: The art collection , the museums, nice garden views, the breakfast, the bar (very delicious cocktails) and the pool.
Cons: The bedroom had nothing special, I expected a little bit more details. They charge extra everything, even the overpriced water bottles. Also there was a wedding party really loud going on at the hotel. We couldn’t spleep for after 12:00 am, we chose that hotel for it’s excellent reputation, but honestly I’ve experienced much much better lodging for the same price rate. I wouldn’t recomen it for staying the night, but I definitely would recomen it for a day pass or a drink at the bar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is breathtaking!!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location was good. The ruins and museums were lovely.
Cons: I stayed at 4 hotels in Guatemala and this is the only one that did not provide purified water for use. To make matters worse they mislead by putting 2 bottles in the bathroom with small type saying it can be purchased with funds going to charity. Service was very spotty. For the room rates, the service was sub-par. - We requested soft feather pillows that in-room brochure were available. They brought poly pillows and then brought more hard feather pillows so we never got what was advertised. - We requested to have our luggage brought to storage so we could get away quickly after breakfast. They did not do it. - Beds were really hard. They said they would put cushioning on bed but they never did. - They have a lot of maintenance staff and they were making noise in the morning and talking loudly often.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The antique of the place combined with comfortable places. The restaurant and the venues are magical. Great location for tourist and locals.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, the facilities, the location, all the details in the room
Cons: Can't think of anything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loads ... great location and facility
Cons: We had paid in advance but at check out the lady was asking for us to pay again until we let her know
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The location, the ambience, the rooms and the food were all great. We were all comfortable and enjoyed the stay, the only complaint (if a true complaint at all) is the service speed. We would sometimes order drinks and would not get it till 15 - 20 minutes afterwards. After that, we would rarely see the waiter.
Cons: Service speed needs a boost. While not horrible to ruin our experience, it could've made it so much better and pleasant.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Bed super comfortable and good facilities
Cons: My room didn’t have shampoo, conditioner only body lotion, we asked for one queen bed and they give me a double bedroom with no chance to change I hope they could give me at least a late check out but they didn’t...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is superb!!! This is one of my reasons to choose this Hotel!! All the personal are very, very kind!
Cons: Everything was OK !
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Heated pool, great facilities, very helpful staff
Cons: They keep macaws in small cages, and I'm not sure how healthy these macaws are. Macaws live up to 70-90 years, and have to suffer in captivity for the amusement of tourists. Please move them to a rehabilitation center such as ARCAS, and please donate to that center to make their life better.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, neither close or far away from the city center, great attention from personnel. Newly remodeled rooms are a plus.
Cons: Even they have shuttle and free valet parking. The parking is very far away and limited at the front of the hotel (for check in)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful gardens, an amazing pool, comfortable rooms! The Porta is more like a resort than a hotel!
Cons: We were disappointed to find that our room didn't have air conditioning while other rooms did. Other than that, we loved everything!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I stayed here with my family and a small 10 pound dog. We enjoyed being able to eat our meals out by the pool even with the dog. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was not too loud even when there was a wedding going on. The room had a dog bed and bowls.
Cons: We stayed in a handicapped room. We noticed that the bathroom was not very handicapped accessible. There is no emergency phone in bathroom, the shower head clipped in very high up on the wall, and the sink is too high for someone in a chair to comfortably reach. Besides these things we thought the room was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, breakfast is amazing, and SPA is so good, I really recommend getting a massage there. The hotel is big and the staff is super kind.
Cons: Everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would absolutely go back again.

Pros: 5 star all the way
Cons: nothing

Thoughtful touches and clean comfy room! Cozy sitting areas upstairs near the rooms and beautiful open air tables for breakfast in the courtyard.
Cons: Long wait for breakfast, nice and relaxing if you have time, not so great if you have a timeline to be somewhere, but truly such fantastic food only a negative if you're in a rush.

You have everything there even a Food Menu. Payment with my Amex fast and easy. Hot water 24hr. I had a pleasant stay. Thanks.
Cons: As a suggestion you should put advertisements in each bed of the shared rooms about not eating inside, keep the door closed, put your phone in vibrator mode. The breakfast time may be extended to 9:30am or 10:00 am.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, hot showers, clean rooms, good breakfast, good wifi!
Cons: No dislikes
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is in a quiet corner of Antigua and the hostel was less buzzy then some of the others which I liked. I also appreciated them letting campers and overlanders stay (although I was neither). Spacious garden courtyard and a friendly ambience all round.
Cons: Several of the rooms (and some of the dorms) don't have windows: for me light and air are absolutely necessary. I asked them to change mine when they have me a windowless room and got a much more pleasant one, but watch out for this if it's important to you too: just ask to see the room first.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful garden, lovely staff, and delicious breakfast!

Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast, good beds and linens, hot water, nice and helpful staff and pretty gardens. Also ample on site parking.
Cons: I found it a bit further from the center of Antigua than places I have stayed in the past. For me it was unfortunate and not a problem for the hotel but there was a local family with young child who cried late at night and was very active early, this worsened as the noise seemed to travel easily to my room. I stayed in what is known as a suite with private patio. It did have a small patio but did not see much of a difference from the standard doubles.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room in a beautiful building. Great beds & a lovely bathroom. The courtyard is an extremely pleasant, peaceful place to sit & the decorating is superb. Great breakfast included too. A gated community so parking was secure. Only a 10-15 minute walk to the plaza.
Cons: NA
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful garden, breakfast included was very good. Room design and comfort level was very good. Quiet neighborhood! Didn’t use the tv at all but it was an old box tv. They had board games for us and brought candles and wine glasses when we bought one of the bottles of wine they sell at the desk.
Cons: I thought the breakfast was included but ended up paying a bit extra at checkout. Still worth it but not as outstanding of a value for price. Not in the hustle and bustle of downtown if that’s important to you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with friendly and helpful staff. Place is very clean with a good breakfast. Lovely communal area to sit looking out on a peaceful garden.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the nicest hostels I've stayed at on my one year journey. The staff is chill and sweet. The beds feel private and are comfy. They make your bed everyday, which I've never seen at other hostels. The patio is gorgeous, and I loved eating my delicious breakfast there.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful well designd hostel. Also eco friendly modern and super clean. I really liked that the building is preserved. Nice common area too. I think this hostel has great potential and can easily be the best in Antigua
Cons: I recommend to ask for a reciept for everything you pay because apparently staff dont always update it in the system. Most of staff and the manager were nice. unfortunatley some of the staff were disrespectful, i hope it was an exeption.. Also, from hostel at this level i would expect a normal blankit (in this weather) and not only with extra charge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and attentive. The dorm were very comfortable and clean, including the common bathrooms and showers. The place is beautiful and charming. The food was good and the patio is great to either work, unwind or just have a drink.
Cons: Not quite sure.. Maybe the roof top could be better arranged and more welcoming.

Pros: Luca ( dog) , the staff very kind, owners very social, I loved the social area, an amazing garden, beds in the shared rooms good, bathroom always were kept clean, facilities, internet connection was excellent and fast.

Pros: Very good! We are very happy to stay here. All of the staff are so nice. And they provide kitchen for us to cook food. And free drinking water.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Cute dogs and nice owner
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great roof top terrace with views of the fiery volcano fuego. Well stocked kitchen with coffee, oil, sauces and spices included. Very cute husky puppies. And strong WiFi through out the property. Great hosts very helpful with booking excursions and transport all at very low prices, their main concern is that you are enjoying your time and they don’t feel the need to rips you off in anyway through tours or transport. We stored our bags while we hiked the volcano over night and were offered showers, towels and coffee on our return at no extra charge.
Cons: Sometimes the shared bathroom got a little messy, but was mainly down to the guests who didn’t know how to use a shower curtain. I don’t feel this should impact the hostel negatively, however next time you use a shared bathroom please be considerate of others.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The location is good
Cons: It was a bedbug in our bed. Hostel didn't care. We looked for another place to stay in the middle of the night. it was terrible. There is a smell of mold throughout the hostel

Pros: I love the kind and helpful stuff and the breakfast was amazing!
Cons: Nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, extremely helpful staff, hot shower, decent breakfast (wish they would offer tortillas as well as bread though). Good value for what I paid.
Cons: I was in an upstairs room and it was a windy night and the wind was really noisy, waking me up throughout the night. The pricing was unclear. When I checked in, the prices on the board were 3 times what I'd paid via booking.com. When I queried that (worried I'd made a mistake) I was told that the board prices were just for the suites, not my room. But the same prices were on the door of my room, so this just left me feeling a bit weird, like they hadn't been fully honest with me.
9.6 Excellent

Pros: Nice please good price
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The building is centrally located, really quaint, the staff is awesome. The hotel is eco - and that speaks to me.
Cons: My room was next to the washing machine and kitchen. I woke up early because of activities in the kitchen. Also, while some rooms are spacious, mine was too small for two people.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good place to be ! Very close to center Staff was very friendly and helpful
Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Uxlabil was a cute, quaint, and quiet little hotel. (Quiet except AM church bells nearby.) The staff was friendly and helpful. It was an affordable place to stay with good breakfast and wifi.
Cons: The bathroom had a slight sewer smell, though not a problem if the door to the room was left closed. The staff had limited English ability, but a good place to stay if you can speak basic Spanish.

Pros: 40+ trips to Antigua and El Convento has the best breakfast in town.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had.
Cons: The pictures show that they have a terrace; which was one of the main reasons to choose this hotel. But the terrace is closed ( not sure if permanently) and doesn’t mention anywhere here. Everything else was amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hands down, the best hotel I have ever visited. The space is breathtaking. And the light incense and music softly playing throughout the grounds adds to the dreamy atmosphere. We had an amazing time and will remember the amazing staff forever.
Cons: That I couldn't stay longer!

Cons: The parking lot is far. I didn't like the fact that I had to walk many blocks to park my car.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Prime location, excellent staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The older rooms just off the corridor are a bit noisy due to their proximity to the restaurant and a bell that rings every hour at the church next door. The newer rooms are quiet and have a nice courtyard where you can relax and even dine away from the more bustling main area.

Cons: Shower had trouble draining
