Pros: Beautiful hotel on the slope so when you enter, you walk down to the rooms. Staff gave us a surprise of a glass of bubbly and tart in our room when my husband mentioned it was my birthday. All rooms labeled as a city. We got Brussels and it was on a corner, in the trees. Breakfast was my favorite part-extensive buffet, and eggs cooked to order and delivered to your table.

Pros: Hotel was amazing!!! Would absolutely recommend
Cons: They set us up with a taxi at 4:30am that spoke no english and said he could only take cash. He then took us to a bank to get cash and if course it was closed at 4:30am. We got his supervisor on the phone and he explained that we could use a credit card but only in Germany and EVERYONE knew we were going to the Luxembourg airport. The story continues into the airport, but I would rather not continue. Please do not set up a taxi at 4:30am that only speaks German for your english speaking patrons.

Klosterschenke - Trier - Building

8.8 Excellent (580 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Trier, Klosterschenke is within a 15-minute drive of Porta Nigra and Arena Trier. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Klosterschenke is a little out of Trier but situated on the banks of the Mosel with an outdoor area facing the river. One can imagine the ambience of this space on a sunny day [unfortunately, we had rain!] but the restaurant was just beautiful. The property had been a convent in former times and had been restored tastefully to create a modern space. We stayed in a delightful apartment about 5 mins walk from the main hotel with all the facilities required for an independent stay. The bed was so comfortable and the bathing facilities, excellent. However, we chose to include breakfast, at an additional cost. The food was generous and well presented and the staff happy & attentive. We also enjoyed 2 evening meals - each night with a different menu and both thoroughly enjoyable. Own transport is required to explore Trier and parking is readily available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and professional
Cons: No lift. I have health issues so can't do stairs.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice and clean
Cons: Poor Wi-Fi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here before, and it's a fantastic hotel in an old Monastery in a lovely setting with views of the Mosel river. You can safely leave your car packed on the private parking, and the hotel has two restaurants. One regular restaurant, and one more fine dining styles restaurant. Be sure to contact the hotel to book a table, as it might get busy.
Cons: As we stayed here before and visited Trier, this time we were thinking of exploring the vineyards, do some wine tastings and see a bit more of the countryside along the Mosel. As a boat stops next to the hotel, we were thinking of taking the boat up the Mosel and visiting a town, do some tastings, hike back to another town while hopefully visiting some more vineyards, and then take the boat back to the hotel. Unfortunately, the boat only goes once a day and getting back would mean taking the boat back at 17:00 (much later than anticipated). Alternatives do not really exist, as there were no buses (especially on Saturdays) and if they go they take over 1.5 hours to get back. There were also no railways stations along the Mosel, so that was no option either. As it turned out, the vineyards we also mostly closed on Satursdays, unless there is some special event going on. All with all kind of a missed opportunity, as it just seems hard or near impossible to do some wine exploration of the area. We met some travellers on Trier's railways station who were doing the Moselstreig walking trail, and they also said they were having a very hard time getting transportation back to their hotel after having hiked a stretch of Moselsteig. Hence, pay attention if you come here to explore the wine region or for hiking!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: such a fantastic place to stay I would go again I think a romantic spot and easy to find my sort of hotel
Cons: it was all so perfect
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Charming staff, very friendly and helpful
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff was kind, polite, and helpfull. The room was clean. The breakfast was very good, with fresh products and enough choice
Cons: Many flies in the breakfast room. The pillows were too thin and soft. The bathroom was good, but showering in the bathtub was not comfortable, too small and slipery

The location was perfect. A few minutes walk and you're in the center. Lots of good restaurants in the area. Room was a bit tight but then again, we were 3 people sharing. 7.5 Good
Pros: Amazing location just off the main town square.
Cons: Most of the staff was helpful but the one who checked me in seemed to not want to be. Could have offered me a map, I wanted to book another night he passed that task on to the morning guy, etc.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel with a story (google Adolph Kolping) in a historical center of a beautiful Trier. Even though the rooms on the floor I stayed in were quite tiny, it kind of belongs to the atmosphere is this old building:) Staff ok.

1.0 Poor
Pros: Location is very good
Cons: My room was very cold. Like I slept outisde. It is not good hostel for this price.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. They've let me sit and use wifi with my laptop after checkout for many hours. They've printed my boarding pass. Stable bunk beds from wood. Also a sink in the room, very useful. The lockers are for free. I could lock in my suitcase during the day after checkout.
Cons: One of the 4 nights I had a difficult guest in my room, who was standing up around 4am, went out and came back every half an hour - until 7am, always unlocking the door 2 times (noisy), going out and locking the door again 2 times. Around 7am he was finally gone. This is no fault of the hostel itself, just that's something I didn't like.
7.9 Good
Pros: Perfect position
Cons: Outdated furniture
7.1 Good
Pros: Lounge area
Cons: Room smells and there is bread in the bathroom

6.0 Good
Pros: Room was extremely spacious and it was nice to have a bathtub.
Cons: The heating system is quite noisy and disrupted my sleep. The rooms are dated and would really benefit from a bluetooth radio.

Pros: Breakfast was rich and with lots of choice. Only the breakfast room was not clearly indicated. You have choice for beverage, fruits, ham, cheese, cereals, milk,...
Cons: The room looks like been clean with chemical product.
