Charged and lied toPros:NothingCons:No car available. They offered to drop us at our destination and bring the car the next day. Didnt show. 2 days later a car (NOT one that worked for us) was left at our address. We called the office to refuse it. They said thethey were bringing the correct one and just to wait. Never showed! We were still charged!!! Office almost never answered the phone and when they did they were rude.Reviewed 14 Jan 2019

Thrifty should really look into its Ecuador location!! Terrible!!Cons:1st my reservation was made about 5 months before my trip and per the reservation I would get a Tahoe or something similar. When I arrive the Thrifty clerk says they don’t work with Tahoe’s and that my reservation would be for a Suzuki Vitara and if I wanted an upgrade it would cost me twice as much as what my reservation was made. 2nd even though my credit card offered insurance for international rentals (I called my credit card to confirm this before I left the country and they said the country I was going to was covered for rentals) Thrifty made me buy their insurance or I could not rent the vehicle! I was traveling with my wife and 2 kids (toddler and infant) so I had no choice at that point but to pay the extra or I would have to waist more time at the airport after a almost 12 hour flight and it was getting late. 3rd because none of my credit cards have the numbers in the front (no cards in the US have them anymore!! At least the new ones don’t!) I had to pay an extra $1000 deposit which they said they would return once I returned the vehicle. When I returned the vehicle they then said it would be 2 weeks before they returned my deposit to make sure I didn’t get any tickets on the vehicle. We are now over 2 weeks and they still have not returned my $1000 deposit! Also the car was all scratched and dinged up all around!! They AC vent on the driver side was broken!! Bottom line! Thrifty in Ecuador is terrible!! They should really do something about this location! Makes their company look bad! Will never rent from them again!Reviewed 10 Dec 2018

Bad Service!!! Car that was Reserved they didn't have.Pros:Nothing!Cons:Service and attitude of the 2 ladies was awful. The reserved Tahoe or similar was a small compact car that we couldn't put luggage in. Rented from Alamo and the were excellent!!Reviewed 2 Aug 2018

Bait and SwitchPros:Airport LocationCons:Would not rent to me unless I took the "optional" collisions damage waver at $25 per day. I had several credit cards offering CDW with over $10K credit. All we're rejected. Thrifty is a rip off.Reviewed 4 Jul 2018

Cons:cancelled at counter when they informed me that no third party could be used for insurance and that the online price of ~$80 would now be closer to $300 based on Ecuador rules........this should be IN BOLD LETTERS when booking!!!! Waste of time. The cost of taxis is very cheap in Guayaquil and was easily much less than the $300 for the week i was there.Reviewed 18 May 2018

Total ripoffCons:Total ripoff. This guys advertise a price but never actually commit to it. Please be careful. I would recomend not having them on your site They state that your reservation is no longer valid because you never paid in advance. Obviouly, the offer a 10x more expensive option. Cons:They charge us extra for insurance on the pick up . Nothing was mention on the the reservation, while we had covered by Amex. Also they put a card charge as a security deposit, and they end up charging this and charging us again in the end of the rent. Now we open investigation. The car Radio did not work , it was kind of big upset.Reviewed 4 Apr 2017
