Pros: You cannot beat the location! Close to everything: train station, touristy area, food markets, etc.
Cons: The hotel was nothing like I expected and was by far the worst I have stayed while I was in Germany. The entire hotel felt like it was still in the 1990s with very old and worn facility (e.g. I haven't seen a TV like this for years as I remember my family used to have one of these maybe 20 years ago... but hey, at least they have a fully functioning TV). The room was not so clean with suspicious stains on the bedsheet. And the towel had a lot of black crumbles on it that was simply disgusting. I ended up just using the towel I brought along with me. I was so happy I only stayed there for one night.

Pros: The room was comfortable and clean
Cons: At checkout, a lady named Sarah tended to our party and had a horrific attitude. While the hotel had posters around about the parking information, it clearly wasn’t working as there were at least 3 other parties who had to pay 58 euros to get their cars out. When asked how this is fair to the guests who were not told at check in where to park, Sarah insisted that everything was written and we were expected to read the posters and our booking confirmation. When asked if she herself read everything even on Apple iPhone terms and conditions she sarcastically said yes. This is unacceptable. No one told us in person nor any other parties.

Cons: Hotel staff and the way they treat customer when their support is required. It is my 7th time stay to this hotel and the last! This time I have got the worst room I ever stayed in this hotel with an uncomfortable bed (still have back pain) . When I asked for a solution I got the upgrade posibility for 43 EUR Per night while online it have been 25 EUR and during the check in time the same upgrade cost have been 35 EUR Per night...Its difficult to understand such kind of behavior. Last time I stayed here there were some problems but I considered that it is a isolated situation...

Cons: During weekends in the night the street in front of hotel was pretty loud due to persons and people coming out from the night out. I know that ist hotel Unger fault but maybe you can warn people that are traveling for work that during weekend they will not get much of sleep.

Cons: The problem is the internet, probably runs at 3% of the speed that a 4 star hotel should run. Another thing problematic is the long distance you need to walk between the entrance and the rooms it can take you a few minutes if you are not very athletic.

Pros: I have stayed here previously a few times. This was I think my 5th visit. The hotel itself is a nice old German-style building with an annexe referred to as The Castle. Both parts are excellent, though as a singleton I preferred the main building with its carved oak solidity. All of the rooms are cosy, but more so in the main part. The castle, where I stayed this time, is more modern. Either is fine though. My room had a bath, which I appreciated, as I was working long hours, and lying in a bath with my Kindle and a glass of Riesling helped with that. The restaurant was closed in the evenings, for the start of the year, but I have tried it previously and it is exceptional. It offers a tasting menu that is pricy, but wonderful. The wine cellar, in which I have been, is outstanding. Three times this trip I had a glass of white recommended by the reception, and all three were gorgeous. There is a fabulous room service menu that is prepared by the excellent chef, but I didn't use it this trip. The staff are universally lovely. All of them friendly, helpful and charming. The gentleman on the desk for most of my last trip showed me the wine cellar a few trips ago, and it was an experience I will remember. The koi. between the two buildings are two koi pools. The fish in the main, open-air pool are the size of dolphins. Well, small dolphins, but I would not be surprised to hear that some weigh 10kgs. They are enormous and beautiful. Guests must not feed them, but if you stand by the pool they will come to you and look at you. I will try to attach a photo of them just after feeding. The location for me is 100% perfect. The U-bahn stop, Dobelstrasse is about 50m away. about 300m way is the Weinstube Stetter, owned by the same family as Zur Weinsteige, which solves all of your wine-related problems and does a very popular German menu. Book or get there early. Another 100m and you are in the old town. It's only five minutes or less to the main station by U-bahn.

Cons: It was 2C outside and my room was a bit warm when I arrived, so I turned down the under floor heating in the bathroom. The beer in the minibar was better than most, so I drank too much of it.

Cons: Arrived middle of night at 1am and it took reception lady to check me inn 1 hour saying computer at the reception is very old and that she new and doesn’t know how to do check inns , I had my confirmed booking form booking.com . Finally after 1 hour she could check me inn and sent me to wrong location , room was at 6 floor but she told me to go to floor 3 and you will find room infact there is a lift on the corner of level 3 which goes to level 6 and there is no lift going to level 3 form reception . Won’t stay again

Cons: The hostel is very very noisy, the people who are staying at the hostel do not understand the meaning of Silence . They are shouting/jumping/ running. The staff are not even telling them to keep quiet after 10:00pm. The walls are very thin, any footstep, knocking or noise is heard inside the room. Going to the hotel you need to have the strength to go up the hill.

The staff is friendly and helpful, I had room N°32 which was nice, side by side with stairs, there are other rooms in a corridor isolated from the stairs by a door, good value of materials in the room, with enough space, sofa, table, television LED with many local German speaking channels, light is relaxing, and the bed was very comfortable :-) the room was on the other side of the small street in an other building but very clean, with a lift, The location is perfect for going in the city center, with many restaurants, bars, shops, Lidl, etc...

Cons: We heard some noise from the street due to windows that are not enough insulated, but the street has not a lot of passage, so at the end it was a little bit disturbing but not too much, more disturbing was the low temperature in the room due to not working of warming system during the night, as we were there in december.

Cons: Unfortunately room facing the street and on sunday night it was very noisy until 3;30 am and cleaning cart passing 3 times. We were in the annexe so i do not know if it is due to windows but certainly a room facing back would have been very beneficial.
