9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly we felt very welcome, and the hotel was lovely and warm
Cons: The breakfast was excellent, apart from one morning when the toast was brought to our table the minute we sat down. We hadn't even had our cereal/fruit so by the time we were ready for the toast it was cold. We were disappointed that the chamber maid wanted to give us clean towels after only 1 day, when the hotel encourages guests to re-use their towels and the message in the bathroom says they would only be replaced if they are in the bath.

Pros: Atmosphere and the old style of the hotel
Cons: Great place for a short break.nice quiet atmosphere would definitely stay again
4.2 Okay
Pros: The location is about all it has going for it
Cons: Possibly one of the worst places I have stayed. Our room was more of a cupboard, we had to have curtains drawn as everyone on the terrace looked straight in but worst of all is the windows are broken and rattled loudly all night. We could hear ours and the ones from the room above which meant we had no sleep. Not enough tea and coffee in room.

Pros: everything was excellent: offroad parking, very comfy bed, very friendly landlady, very good breakfast (ask for Jo's special Scrambled Egg). When in this area and in need of a stopover this is the address.
Cons: Nothing was bad... actually, it was even better than I was expecting, thanks Jo ! All I can think of, that was not so good, is that it rained all day on Saturday ;-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jo is the perfect host. She was born to do this! She followed up on my booking to make sure she knows when I'll arrive and she also dropped me at the bus station when it was time for me to leave. I extended my stay because the facilities where excellent and very clean and I could do with an extra quiet day after work was over. It was the perfect place to also recharge.

Pros: The staff were exemplary. The food superb and attention to detail was brilliant. The canapes were delicious. Malcolm is a treasure, every hotel should have someone like him overseeing their functions. The hotel has wonderfully cosy atmosphere and everyone seems to be happy to be looking after the guests. The owner was also in attendance to ensure that all was to everyone's satisfaction
Cons: The weather
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent with my 2 boys which is great when you’re travelling on your own with kids, they really made us feel at home. The room was beautiful and we’d got a fantastically reduced rate due to some error or other but it didn’t change the staff’s excellent care of us. The bath was huge and once the boys were asleep I had a lovely deep bath it was heavenly. The brass bed was pretty creaky but thankfully my 7 year old was too tired to notice it as he stirred in his sleep. Breakfast was extensive and the staff were great at talking to the boys about what they’d like and telling the oldest a little history both of the building and of themselves so all in all it was a wonderful experience.
Cons: The bed was a bit creaky but otherwise nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved this hotel! The rooms are amazing and the staff are great.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast and the lady who served us was wonderful, the outside of the hotel is stunning and looks extravagant
Cons: Everywhere is extremely shabby, it needs some money invested into it. the heaters outside wasn’t switched on, the bed was extremely uncomfortable you could feel ever spring the pillows/duvet was as thin as paper the room was cold with no radiators working even the fire in the room didn’t work, the food on the night was cold, very expensive bar. the photos looked amazing of the suite very disappointed

Cons: The bar prices are very pricey.

Cons: Nothing we didn't like it was exactly what we wanted
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic family run hotel that even though its an older property was better than visiting some of the new soulless hotels I have stayed in before, nothing was to much trouble for the staff, even accommodating an early morning start with an early out of hrs breakfast. Location was excellent, breakfast was excellent, staff were excellent , facility's were great and all round a great trip. Thanks to Andy and all the staff for making my trip great . Will defiantly be staying again in the near future.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect. Good food. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Cons: Kept banging my head on the low doorway to the bedroom.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, very helpful. Nice evening wheel. Very clean.
Cons: Lots of stairs to the room and very narrow staircase. Limited access for parking and unloading the car outside the main entrance was a bit of an issue. Shower not very powerful and only warm water. Breakfast was average, but served in a bowl? quite bizarre.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Central location. Historical building
Cons: A more comprehensive vegetarian menu. Veggie sausage option at breakfast would have been great.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent breakfast incuded with the room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Sheets and towels clean, good value food and drink central location and great breakfast.
Cons: The room was heated by small Oil filled radiator, but window open and not switched on for arrival. The description says private bathroom but I hadn’t realised this was out a door through another up a step and a Yale lock to get through. The bathroom which was shower sink and toilet was functional. The bedroom sadly was poorly lit and lacked plugs. Trying to Do hair and make up a nightmare. Sink had airlock making a noise all the time unless plug in . This sounds whiney and I don’t mean it too, Shrewsbury has lots of old buildings which don’t lend them selves to modern facilities. If you are a fit person with excellent stair climbing facilities who is not bothered about meeting strangers on the way to the loo , this really represents great value for money with a great location and hospitality. Those of A less fit and more reserved nature may find it a little less appealing. They do offer one room with en suite however X

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome for us and our dog. We upgraded but the room was a bit small and all surfaces seemed to be covered with literature. My only complaint was no gluten free bread for breakfast when they had so much warning including when we arrived. But the staff in the sister restaurant The Loopy Shrew were lovely and welcoming to us including our dog.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room 6 was lovely very lovely and cosy
Cons: Having to park away from the property ... but wouldn’t put me off staying again
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Particularly enjoyed being able to use the lounge to relax and read the papers. Also the “honesty bar” was useful. Good choice of teas and coffee in the room.
Cons: Not many sockets in our bedroom meant we had to do a bit of swapping and changing of plugs to boil the kettle and charge phones. Not a real negative, just an observation.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was super comfortable
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb, gluten free accommodated for and all freshly cooked.

Cons: Sticky floor in serving area in breakfast room.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent for the town, the staff are very friendly and informed, the breakfast was a great start to a new day.
Cons: Having selected Parking as part of the criteria for selecting the hotel was disappointed to find that this was infact a separate charge which I had to cover. Other than that nothing else to complainabout

Pros: Great location with a good standard of services.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Very central setting. Welcoming owners.
Cons: Parking is an issue in the mornings
4.0 Okay
Pros: The bathroom tiles and the wifi
Cons: I found the brekfast staff unpleasant. It seemed as if he didn't want to be there - he keep banging the plates and cups about - in fact another breakfaster commented upon this. He was quite grumpy. Maybe he should look for a new job. The cleaning lady and the young girl were much nicer.
5.3 Okay
Pros: Good location, close to shops, restaurants and attractions but on a quiet(ish) road; easy to come and go when we wanted and a car park nearby.
Cons: Service a bit uninspired; certainly not the friendliest hotel we have stayed in. Decor a bit tired and old fashioned.
5.7 Okay
Pros: I only stayed one night, but my overall impression was of an efficiently run hotel.
Cons: There was nothing I disliked.
7.0 Good
Pros: Queit cozy place but within few minutes of town square. Family-run informality, excellent breakfast.
Cons: The breakfast window of 8-9 on a Sunday was too early, too short. The room cleaners also worked only till 11 on Sunday which was surprising.
6.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed. Lots of clean white towels. Interesting old building. Handy for river.
Cons: Noisy (near building site and pubs). Instant coffee with breakfast. Lots of stairs to climb with suitcase. Overpowering "air fresheners". No thermostat on radiator. Owner not particularly friendly.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms good size, modern bathroom, beautiful decorated throughout building, breakfast was delicious
Cons: Feather pillows and cover
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The loft room is beautiful with so much character. The exposed beams are fabulous. The bath in the room is very decadent and the bed was super comfy. The homemade biscuits on the tea tray were to die for. We also had a great evening meal and breakfast at the property.
Cons: Our room was right above the dining room which was quite noisy but luckily did not go on until too late.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Absolutely fantastic place to stay, we had a perfect weekend. My only criticism would be that we didn't get much sleep in the studio due to what I can only describe as the beer barrels being changed at 5am. This was very noisy and woke us up super early. We also struggled to settle due to people walking on creaky floor boards above our room. This aside the staff were fantastic and the food was delicious. The room was super clean and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. We would return in a heartbeat but perhaps stay in another room. Many thanks for the little touch of a bottle of processo waiting in our room for my partners birthday celebrations. I didn't request this so it was a nice little touch, along with his birthday card. Many thanks Chloe
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff were okay but not particularly chatty or friendly. The rooms were nice but noisy - one suffering from street noise and another you could hear someone snoring in the room next door.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Central location in quiet medieval street
Cons: A little old fashioned but in a charming way.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was lovely - in fact it was a suite which was a bonus at double room rate (very olde worldly with old beams). The location was great and everything was within walking distance. The valet parking was great - no hassle in finding a parking space! There was a good choice in breakfast and the staff were very pleasant. Would certainly stay again!
Cons: The shower didn't have the best pressure. I wasn't overly impressed with having to pre-book a time for breakfast as wasn't sure what time we were getting up. Can't say more than that as was happy with everything else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location fantastic staff & food.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is good.
Cons: It was not clear when booking thatthere was an extra charge of £10 per night for parking. this added significantly to the bill. The single room was 'compact' and water pressure in the shower wasn't great. The TV was fixed to a wall the could not beseen easily from the bed...and as a single room there wasn't anywhere else yo sit comfortably.

7.5 Good
Pros: The location is great and I had to book this hotel last minute as another one had to close due to flooding. It was very reasonable price even booking on the day of arrival. The staff are very kind and helpful.
Cons: The rooms although clean and comfortable are very outdated but wouldn’t put me off returning.

Cons: so convenient to go around shrewsbury town and restaurant .
6.8 Good
Pros: Staff were nice and rooms were a good size
Cons: But their decor was dated and our room was at the front of the hotel which was on a busy main road
7.5 Good
Cons: Room was really hot, needed a fan. Electric not working when first entered the room, quickly fixed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room we stayed in was huge , the bed was massive with plenty of room , with extra seating too.
Cons: I hate that parking is so difficult and that you had to pay extra, i think if your staying at a hotel parking should be provided
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely - nice variety

7.0 Good
Pros: Room not too small. Enjoyed full sized bath. Quiet evenings, even on Friday and Saturday. Room serviced every day.
Cons: Didn't expect to be asked for my card and be charged £1 on arrival. This was not well explained by staff. Also took time for staff to check we had paid before we left, email was not sufficient. Good job we left plenty of time. Only one bath towel for two people (could probably have asked for another). Towels changed every day despite being left on rail.
