Lovely hotel, great views, nice facilities
Nothing
The staff were very pleasant and the bar area was comfortable to sit in
We felt that the price was expensive compared to other hotels we have used, the bedrooms were small and cramped and the furniture needed updating and the dinner menu limited to a set menu with no other choice on offer.
Friendly staff. Cleanliness. Relaxing atmosphere in dining room and around the hotel generally. Lovely views and gardens.
The breakfasts were very good with lots of choice. The main courses at dinner could have been a little more imaginative and were sometimes disappointing.
Facilities on offer - swimming pool & games room
Dated furnishings
The views were excellent. Breakfast was adequate but more choice would be good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
A more varied menu would be better than a set menu costing £24. We went to the Village Inn to eat when we would have preferred to stay in and eat some evenings. The bar food time could be extended after 6.0 pm?. The beds in our room were a little lumpy - mattress toppers could be used?
It is a three star hotel which we stayed in for one night. It came across well in the website and so although expectations of the actual hotel were not high, expectation of the room view and location were high. Hotel was as expected. Clean but a little dated. Staff were friendly on arrival. Hotel garden and walks to further gardens and tea room were lovely. It was a very short walk to Shanklin Old Town.
Our double room description: 'these rooms have magnificent views across the gardens towards the sea, taking in the sweep of Sandown Bay.' Our room was a family room in the newer part of the hotel which was to the left of the hotel gardens. Our view out the window was over the parasols and swimming pool, to Sandown Bay and sea. Not what we expected, although still pleasant in the distance. Our family room meant our view from our bed was over to the spare bed in our room. All very dated. Our family room also meant we were in a family area of the hotel, which is naturally more noisey. This was not what we booked. When I queried this I was told that there were no other double rooms with views of the sea available. Hence, what we booked was not supplied. I was also advised I was the first person to ever 'complain' about having an extra bed in their room. My 'complain' was simply on leaving I did say I was disappointed to be put in a family room, in the family area of the hotel. I was also advised that they use their family rooms as double rooms. So I think this should be made clear on the website to avoid any confusion or disappointment on arrival.A Simple, 'sorry the room wasn't what you booked, but we hope you can enjoy your stay' was all I wanted from the reception staff if they had not the room we booked available at this point; not a lecture on why I should be grateful to have got a bigger room with an extra bed. There was no understanding that perhaps there was a very specific and legitimate reason why we did not want a family room or be around young children while we were on this holiday? I had a genuine sense of relief leaving the hotel. I would value the hotel room under the circumstances at £45-50 per night.
Quiet. Comfortable lounge with newspapers. Breakfast. Friendly staff.
Restaurant not open. I understand why, but would have liked to have known when booking.
Staff and food was very good. All staf was very helpful and the food was excellant
Room size, although the room had excellant veiws across the bay and the hotel gardens, for us travelling with 2 large suitcases their was not enough room.
great location friendly staff beatiful views over the sea.Breakfast great would stay again.
The most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. Well furnished, comfortableroom
Stairs a little narrow with a suitcase.Bath tap could have worked better and interference on the tv in the room
