Everything was just excellent. We had two wonderful dinners and the place is more like a country house than an hotel
Spectacular rural location. Characterful buildings and grounds with swimming pool. Pleasant dining experience in the evenings and good breakfasts.
Our first room wasn't to our liking but we were moved when another room became free.
Situated 4.5kms along a single track road in 14.000m2 woodland above a fishing river, this place is like a small Parador, only far more personal. It is in an XVIII farmhouse and outbuildings restored to the highest standard. It is managed by the owners and activities such as white water rafting, cycling, guided walks are available. 11kms from Santiago de Compostella heaving with hikers, it is an oasis of peace and tranquility. About 30kms from the beautiful Galician coast.
Evening meal at 9pm. Too late for oldies! Breakfast at 9am, too late for a prompt start.
Incredible and unique location and property. Friendly helpful employees. Good value meals.
I would not recommend bringing your dog as we did. The hotels dogs run around loose which would be fine if it weren't including a heavy unspayed female who refused to leave our dog alone the entire time. We could not even let him out for a pee without being jumped on. We had politely informed the owners several times but they seemed very flippant about it and did nothing. Dogs mating is a very serious thing that needs to be carried out under supervision. Its a shame to say we spent most of our holiday unable to relax and enjoy the gardens and surrounding areas, having to constantly watch the dogs and try to keep them separate as the owners did not care. Sadly this resulted in an expensive trip to the vets for our dog on our last day due to issues the night before and all our plans for the final day out the window. The owners were fully aware but not so much as an apology or even an enquiry as to whether our dog was ok. A real shame to have had our stay ruined by something that could have been so easily avoided with a little more responsibility and care.
We loved being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The facilities, including our room, were beautiful. This is a lovely family-run business in a very old estate with all the modern conveniences. The staff was very nice and responsive. Be aware, a car is needed to get there, as it is located about 15-20 minutes from Santiago De Compostela. We are birders and loved the entrance road to the property. It was both scenic and there were several “trails” to hike. We found a very nice dirt bike track to the river from the road. The internet in our room was a bit inconsistent, as we had the room that was the furthest away. just above the pool. It worked great inside and outside the main house where reception is located. This was not an issue for us, because we were mostly out exploring. Their breakfast, which was a modest add on, was delightful. Due to their location, it is the only local choice for breakfast. (Be aware it served somewhat late, between 9 - 10:30 am, so if you need an early start, you will have to eat elsewhere.) We enjoyed one delicious prefix dinner, but the many courses were too filling for so late in the evening. We wish we could have ordered tapas or ala carte, so that we were not uncomfortably full before bedtime. Otherwise we had a perfect visit. We highly recommend Casa Grande Do Bachao We would gladly stay there again!
