5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was quiet. Firm bed. Powerful shower.
Cons: Found hairs on bed, in bathroom and in mini fridge. Staff efficient but not warm. Room itself wasn't bad but I expected more for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, best I have had in Spain. Extremely friendly and helpful receptionist, including helping to get laundry washed. Would definitely recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cool rooms! They even have coins on the stone walls of the rooms, as traditional Santiago offerings. Also perfect location to get the airport bus, in the nearby plaza de galicia.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and big. Cooking facilities for when your fed up with eating out. She had provided newspaper for drying boots. Dehumidifier to deal with damp clothes after a rainy day. She was just lovely. Thumbs up.
Cons: Goody bags were a nice touch but some walkers had thrown them away later on the camino. Would have been great even without the goody bag.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a fantastic stay in Santiago de Compostela for my husband & I at the completion of our 14-day Camino! The hotel is conveniently located in the historical downtown area (near the edge where the business/downtown area begins, but still within the historical streets & a few minutes' walk to the Cathedral & shops/restaurants/museums. It is also conveniently located about 10 min. easy walk to the train station, which we had to take back to Madrid. Located on the 3rd level of the building, there is elevator or stair access from a nice quiet lobby (the rest of the building seemed to be residential apartments?). The reception area of Mapoula is very nicely decorated with warm but modern décor, with a seating area around the reception desk, & then a dining area & kitchen/breakfast buffet area around the corner. Everything was very clean. Included in our stay was the continental breakfast buffet (it would have been well worth the 4€ I think it was listed separately for anyway): there is a selection of pastries & cakes (apple, Santiago/almond?, meats & cheeses, soft boiled eggs, yogurts, cereals, fresh fruit, etc. available at the buffet. They bring you fresh squeezed orange juice & a basket of freshly toasted breads & croissants to your table. The mugs for hot tea & coffee are in a heated carousel. Everything was immaculately clean & service was great. The only very slight negative here was they only put a small amount of fresh fruit out. My husband wanted a banana but the second day noticed someone had taken the last (only?) one (& actually ended up not finishing it!)...to their credit we didn't ask them for more, & perhaps they would have brought more out if we did. Our room was just off the reception area, through an extra door/small entry area, along with another room. The lighting was automatic & bright, which I love (some hotels are so dark & dim). In the room, everything was very modern, yet cozy (love the one stone accent wall). There was air conditioning & recessed ceiling/behind the bed lighting. The bathroom was larger than most we had stayed at throughout our Camino (we stayed in hostals & pensions, not albergues!) & everything was immaculate, comfortably decorated, great water pressure/heat in the shower, lighting overhead as well as the vanity area, etc. (Here the one small negative was their towels, white medium/large bath towels with Mapoula stiched/printed across the bottom in red letters, were a little old. You could see the fraying begin around the edges of the ones we had day 1 & 3 of our stay. Day 2 the towels they gave us were a little newer. Everything was very clean, though.) Our room window had 2 layers of shutters, inside sheer curtains & outside automatic shutters (as are customary in Spain). There were no views since we were close to other buildings, but being on the 3rd level, we could see across the small pedestrian alley to a rooftop & no windows directly across. Also, laundry service was a plus!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were modern and stylish. Shower was powerful with tons of hot water. The property is in a great location to access all that Santiago de Compostela has to offer. Plenty of choice for breakfast, with freshly squeezed orange juice every morning, what's not to like

Best rooms in Santiago de Compostela

Hotel Capital de Galicia - Santiago de Compostela - Building
1
8.3 Excellent (136 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were very hospitable and accommodating to all our needs. My father 79 years old and I had just finished the Camiño Santiago de Compostela. His feet blistered. Our hosts helped us take care of him medically and insured that all our needs were taken care of. I can gladly recommend these friendly people anytime. Thank you for everything!!
6.7 Good
Pros: Having freshly made coffee available was a huge bonus. Otherwise, the hotel was fine and clean, maybe just a little far from the center, but a nice walk regardless.
Cons: This is difficult and I've been avoiding writing this review, but there is clearly a serious problem with the younger male staff member. Unfortunately, I heard him yelling at another staff member, who also happened to be his father, in a violent and aggressive manner that was incredibly disturbing - not the least reason being that apparently what set him off was my asking for a restaurant recommendation and him disagreeing with his father's advice. Honestly, separate from one another, they were both very nice and helpful. But together, the tension was enormous and it was extremely uncomfortable for me after I was witness to that exchange. I sincerely hope that young man is working on his anger issues and temper. Had he worked anywhere else, yelled at any other staff person in that way, I imagine he would not have a job. He is lucky; I really hope he realizes that and controls himself in the future and shows everyone respect, especially is father. It was scary.

Pros: Wonderful property. Very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay before the last little bit of the Camino into Santiago. Very cozy-- sat in front of the fireplace before supper. Nice supper.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I treated myself to an overnight stay at this hotel after spending a week walking the Camino so I only had 10 kilometres to walk to Santiago Cathedral the next day. Wow what a great decision that was, it really is just a ten minute walk off the Camino but totally worth it. The host Alfronso is a wonderful man who could not have been more helpful or welcoming. I had total total joy at seeing my room complete with a jacuzzi bath for my aching legs and massive comfortable bed, and the hotel and grounds are just beautiful. I had dinner at the hotel at the hotel which was delicious and a great nights sleep. This is a beautiful hotel for Camino walkers, anyone needing a hotel near the airport (although zero airport noise) or as a base with a car to drive to the many lovely places to visit in the area at a very reasonable price
Cons: Absolutely nothing I wouldn't change a thing about this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is amazing! It”s like a Relais Chateou for a fraction of the price. And the owner is so kind and generous. He picked me up in the Camino and even sent to me in Santiago de Compostela earrings that I have forgotten there. Wonderful food and beautiful place

Pros: This hotel is a real oasis and a wonderful place to relax before the final part of the Camino. Unfortunately for pilgrims it is about 2 km off the Camino. The hosts prepared a lovely dinner and breakfast for us. We were also given a ride back to the Camino in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: After a long day on the Camiño, this is the perfect place to rest.
Cons: Everything here is perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here one night as we walked the Camino de Santiago. The property is located some distance from the Camino, but walkable. However, it was raining, and the owner sent a taxi for us as we arrived in Teo. The place is beautiful, with small but comfy rooms, and large lounge areas. As there are no restaurants nearby, we partook dinner in the lovely restaurant there with a fixed menu. Coffee and drinks were available to purchase anytime. The hostess was kind enough to drive us back to the Camino the following morning.

Pros: We had made a mistake with our booking and arrived and left a day earlier than expected. We were welcomed and accommodated even though there was no room in the hotel. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful. Food was great - especially evening meals, breakfasts good also!

Pros: Casa Grande is a wonderful, charming place to stay. Our family of 8 loved the comfortable rooms. Carlos and Tanya were perfect hosts and went out of their way to make our stay special.

Pros: Fabulous hotel within a working monastery! Very plainly furnished and decorated rooms but using top quality furnishings. Exeptionally quiet and peaceful, huge bathroom with walk in shower. Lovely converted monastery washhouse as swimming pool (approx 13m long), great for relaxing Camino muscles. Excellent and huge breakfast buffet with hot and cold selections. Lovely friendly and welcoming staff. I just loved it!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast selection was very good, and the location was ideal. Three minute walk to the Cathedral, but set apart from pedestrian traffic. I have completed two Caminos and this was where I have stayed for a much needed celebratory rest!
Cons: Service at the restaurants was lacking. Although the servers did their best, they were clearly understaffed, especially when large groups were present.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Of all the hotels I stayed at during my Camino, the San Francisco was the best. You are treated with so much hospitality that you feel like being part of a family!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old monastery 1 minute walk from the cathedral. Spacious room in good order with a comfortable bed, a reasonable shower and twin sinks. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Reasonable rate, all things considered. Would definitely stay here again.
Cons: TV was a bit small given how far it was from the bed. Pricing was somewhat similar to the slightly more upmarket parador in the Cathedral square. But these are very minor points.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Was close to everything
Cons: Room smelt like stale musty water

Pros: The comfortable, warm beds, spacious bathroom, nice view and central location. A perfect place to recover after finishing the Camino.
Cons: Everything was excellent.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect for catching the bus to the airport as the bus stop is immediately outside.
Cons: The walls are very thin so you hear a lot of outside noise.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff members are accommodating, and the location of the hotel was great (it is located just in front of the bus stop to the airport). Besides, the room and bathroom were very clean and spacious enough.
Cons: However, There were not many choices in breakfast, and the air conditioner in my room made a noisy sound. In addition, it seems that the hotel was not soundproof. So I could hear all the sounds from neighbours next to my room. So I could barely sleep while staying there.
