The taxi was not able to take me to this location due to political unrest in Chili. The streets to this hotel were barricaded by the Chilean Military. Riots and demonstrations, subway torching and lootings were happening. The WWW was frozen and my emails from the hotel (another hotel) computer were returned and left me no way to communicate. A curfew of 8 p. m. was in effect. All tours were cancelled and almost all buildings were closed. My travel company was able to fly me out after 2 days.
The taxi driver could not take me to this hotel due to protests, political unrest, demonstrations, burnings and looting. The Chilean Military had the streets baracded in the heart of Santiago where this hotel is located. The taxi driver took us to the Principado area of Santiago and got the Manager of Ibis, who spoke English, to take care of us. I was a prisioner in the Ibis and could not go outside after 8 pm. I was advised to get out of the country ASAP. The travel company was able to book a flight for $150. to Rio de Janerio, 3 days early and get me out of the very freightening situation.
Room was big and location was good. Close to Patio Bellavista.
They first checked us in to the wrong room with 2 single beds when we had actually booked for a double room. Sheets were dirty and had marks on them when we were moved in to the 2nd room. As housekeeping was finished for the day they said our sheets could not be changed so they moved us to a 3rd room after we had already unpacked which was an inconvenience. No English speaking channels. Average breakfast.
Very good value for money. Good breakfast. Room is simple but very clean and with good size, shower is also good. Staff is corteous and attentive. Location is very good for access to Baquedano Metro Station, downtown and Bella Vista neighborhood. Easy to walk around, although it is a longer walk to Las Condes and Vitacura neighborhoods.
Location can be a bit busy at night, so noise might be a consideration on lower floors. Entrance to hotel is small, not a lot of space available. Room could be a little bit better illuminated, but not that big of a problem, just a personal opinion.
