La Calzada Del Santo - Santa Marta - Building
1
9.3 Excellent (540 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at La Calzada del Santo in Santa Marta (Historic Center), you'll be a 1-minute drive from Santa Marta Beach and 7 minutes from Rodadero Beach. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Unfortunately our stay at La Calzada was highly unpleasant. Here are some small but wnnoying problems first: The staff at the hotel only spoke very little English, the safe in our room was broken and the bathroom was only separated by a tall wall but not fully enclosed. More annoyingly, the hotel is next to a night club with the bass clearly audible in the room with the windows closed. Furthermore, in the morning at 6am we were awoken by people in the plaza blasting loud music and preaching intensively through a microphone. The worst thing about the stay was that in the morning there was no running water so we couldn't even flush the toilet. When the water eventually came back the water was a disgusting brown colour so we couldn't shower and had to brush our teeth with bottled water. The second morning, the electricity also cut off so there was no air conditioning, fan or WiFi. Management was not very concerned with offering any kind of reimbursement for these major inconveniences.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The management and staff are extremely helpful and available as needed. The location is great and the hotel is very secure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thank you Andrea and Andres! We had the time of our lives!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were lovely, the hotel is calm and quiet. The rooms are spacious and bright. Comfortable beds, nice powerful showers. The rooftop pool and bar area is gorgeous in the sun and the hammocks are excellent.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect and the entire staff is incredibly kind and helpful.
Cons: The lack of intimacy of the bathroom.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel location is amazing and the staff is helpful and welcoming. It is really nice the pool on the roof terrace where you can refresh yourself with at the end of the day.
Cons: The word boutique is a bit misleading in this case as it seems more a really good Hostel. We missed a small fridge in the room, to keep water and some food.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was amazing. Thank you!
Cons: NA
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, very convenient for bars & restaurants. Great staff, very friendly and helpful, nice breakfast!
Cons: Nothing really, though at a stretch it would have been nice if the pool was bigger.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This family-owned hotel in a gem in the historic center of Santa Marta. The location is at the heart of the animated streets, still in a quiet area, and close to the sea. Traveling alone, I was very well taken care of by the owners during my 5-day stay, and by lovely staff. The small pool on the roof is really a plus and I enjoyed the bar area at sunsets. I also trully enjoyed the fresh fruits and eggs at breakfast. I could only recommend to anyone looking for an oasis of peace in the old town to choose this hotel. The Taigo room in particular is very spacious and at the pool level, a must! And the owners will provide good tips to visit places around.
Cons: Nothing, I highly recommend this hotel.
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly staff and great location
Cons: There are better value for money offers in Santa Marta

5.0 Okay
Pros: Location. Decent breakfast. Nice to have a pool although it is quite small. More for cooling off.
Cons: The reception staff were awful. They barely smiled. When I asked for help to make a bus reservation they suggest I do it myself from my room. On the day of my departure, I spoke directly to the reception to tell them I am waiting for the bus we arranged the other day. When the bus came they didn’t say anything and my bus left without me! They took no responsibility and just shrugged it off. Terrible customer service . They simply don’t care.

Pros: Very nice pool areas; ok beach. Great facilities for additional entertainment with the kids (bowling). Nicely organized to separate younger from older kids. Very good rooms, nicely equipped with utensils, cooking ware, glassware... you basically don’t need to leave the hotel.
Cons: Needs more shadows from threes, more seating areas on the beach an along the Pool sides...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simply perfect and outstanding
Cons: Nothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location on the beach was great but a 20 minute taxi to Santa Marta central with no shuttle service.
Cons: Overcrowded resort, not ideal for couples. Rooms were outdated with a concrete double bed in the matrimonial room. There were many additional charges, even to wash the cups provided. No tea or coffee facilities in room. A vast array of ugly plastic chairs poolside yet never anywhere to lay/sit as everyone seems to hold spaces yet spend hours unattended. We stayed here for some relaxation at the end of a long trip and were very dissatisfied.
7.5 Good
Pros: My mother, my wife and I Go there 3or4 tuice in the year
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel in Santa Marta (pozos colorados area), in front of the beach. The hotel has several and nice swimming pools, delicious, abundant and good variety of food, beverages, etc. To be honest, you don't need to walk out from the hotel, you have everything to enjoy a good time with your family, relatives, friends, etc. Supermarket inside or a bigger market just few meters walking distance from the hotel if you want something for your group. I enjoyed my time off with my family. I'll be back in the future.
Cons: Some suites are already a bit old, but everything works
8.2 Excellent
Pros: the swimming pools, the location, the beach
Cons: food is not good and very expensive, cleanliness in some areas, not many activities for kids

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place with a great atmosphere! Delicious food, friendly staff, good music and stylish decorations make that hostel special
7.1 Good
Pros: Near to the beach and vegetarian menu. They have good services for travelers and rooms for sharing are good.
Cons: I stayed in pop room with attached bathroom, one of the Windows was absent, only a mosquito web was there, so when the wind comes very strong at night the ceiling wish is made of a thin wood that sounds strong with the wind. So I didn't pass good nights for the sound, also you can hear the loudly music of the neighboring. It is mentioned that you can get breakfast for $7000 pesos but here there is not the option. You can get food from the menu, but dishes are over $5000 each. Breakfast cost me $13.000
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A small hostel with a very friendly vibe. I felt very comfortable there. The quality of the veggie food offered by the kitchen was amazing!
7.5 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service
Cons: The restaurant is far that the Room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed at the Reservado tower. Very modern and clean. The rooms are spacious with ceramic floors and good air conditioning system. We had issues making our check in our first night due to an inconvenience with our airline. When we called to let them know we wouldn’t be making our check in the first night they were understanding and held the room until we got in the next day. The food, facilities, and service were top notch.
Cons: When we tried to exchange US dollars to Colombian pesos so we could tip the service staff they would not let me exchange due to the fact that I was a Colombian citizen (living abroad and with US citizenship as well). Luckily my fiancé is a US citizen. When she tried to exchange a simple $20 bill they wouldn’t accept it because it had ink marks on it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the trees, plants and Iguana's that are all over
Cons: It was sometimes very difficult to communicate with the staff because most didn't speak English. There could also be a bathtub inches bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Irotama has 5 different towers, all nearby, Irotama Reservado is the newest and is amazing, we arrived there but realized that maybe it could be too calm for the kids, so we moved to Irotama del Sol, the apartments in both towers are fully equipped and really nice, big and confortable, complete kitchen, washing and drying machine, nice bathrooms, we also had a big outdoor Jacuzzi, the place is amazing, very clean and well equipped, but the most amazing thing is that the staff is really nice and courteous and helpful. we even had a medical condition with one of the kids, we went to a hospital for a preocedure and the next day the hotel reimbursed us all our costs using their own insurance.
Cons: nothing!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities.
Cons: The suites on the 06 line, have little privacy. A new built tower is extremely close. No privacy in the jacuzzi for romantic evening.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice and clean.
Cons: The quality of the service used to be much better. Time of response in restaurants and cafes was excessive. Distance between my building and the next facility was long.
7.5 Good
Pros: Facilities and location are good
Cons: Prices are expensive and limitations of food that are included in the plan
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was perfect. Everything was like new. We loved the balcony and the view. The rooms were spacious. Juan Carlos was exceptional. He helped us communicate our needs.
Cons: No complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building is new, clean and incredible. The room was beautiful and the pool was well taken care of and amazing.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Good breakfast and location for what we needed.
Cons: Staff took a long time to find the reservation. I would not recommend this hotel for foreigners as they are not aware that we are tax exempt. When we showed our Australian passport, drivers license and itinerary showing arrival date as proof that we are not residents of Colombia we were told that this was was sufficient. We informed that we did not get an stamp at the airport as we came on the electronic gates. Definitely not impressed. This did not happened to us in Bogotá on the same trip. I definitely would not recommend this hotel at all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was a reenergising stop in our trip because of: Great facilities Nice pool Well equipped gym Spa Spacious and design room, with balcony Delicious breakfast
Cons: Laundry is surprisingly slow for a hotel of this kind
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was pretty good and getting a table to sit down at such a busy time wasn't very difficult. The room we stayed in was 1604 with a queen bed, one balcony and pool view. It was spacey, modern, clean and well worth the price we paid. The hotel staff was very attentive and helped us out with an hour or so after check-out for free so we could get things sorted out. We had arrived that night from a wedding so an extra hour was good news. The hotel is twn minutes from the airport and a taxi should cost $20,000 pesos. There´s a small shopping mall a couple of minutes walk or a $6,000 peso taxi drive away. The city center is half an hour away by taxi so if you´re planning to party in the city center I wouldn't recommend staying here.
Cons: The restaurant is quite expensive for Colombian standards. The hotel is between two big buildings so there is almost no view and the pool only has sun in the morning. You have to pay for early or late check-out, but atleast you have the option. For some reason the hotel lost its beach resting area permission so there were only six umbrella stands for the whole hotel. That means that if you didnt wake up early getting a spot later on in the day was almost impossible and you would have to pay someone at the beach for chairs and lie under a tree for shade. We had called for someone to pick us up at the airport and when we arrived there was nobody there so we had to take a taxi. It's no big deal but it's dissapointing when you agree to something and someone doesn´t follow through.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent service, restaurant and staff
Cons: Limited umbrellas and chairs available on the beach
7.1 Good
Pros: Food excellent. Nice staff and very comfortable bed.
Cons: When arrived room was not fully cleaned from prior guest. Also had to request multiple times for a smaller pillow.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Modern and clean.
Cons: construction around, a bit noisy.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Close to the best beach! It's very safe and you can spend hours in peace at the beach. Super clean as well. Breakfast is also really good, plenty of options. Very happy overall.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I stayed at a deluxe suite , it was bigger than expected and with a great balcony from where you get a nice ocean view. The bed is comfy and everything you will need is provided. The staff has a great vibe and very helpful. 100% recommended.
Cons: The room service menu could be longer and should include vegetarian options.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Even though I arrived early I got a early check in with an amazing room. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. The hotel is pretty new and everything was pretty amazing!
Cons: To be honest I loved everything
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing, everything was great
10.0 Excellent

Cons: the food , ( not breakfast) could be better

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and very clean
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very clean and spacious, nice rooms and good customer service!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Clean, nice rooms - Good breakfast - Samir at the rooftop bar & pool was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: - No shower gel, only soap and no shower cap provided either. - We read this in previous comments and can also confirm the following : 1. Very low COLD water pressure, hot water pressure no issue... 2. Absolutely NO shade if you want to relax on a sunbed at the rooftop bar & pool. Possibly because it can get very windy... 3. Windows of rooms very dirty but seems a challenge to keep them clean all the time...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - super comfortable room, nice bathroom - fridge, big mirrors,
Cons: - badly equipped gym (mostly cardio machines, some free weights) - we own an AMEX platinum, so we should get free breakfast, but Hilton honours had problems changing our account and the staff refused to give us breakfast for free, even though it was not our fault)
4.2 Okay
Cons: In a general manner, the rooms are great but basic for this kind of hotel. No drinks in the room, the beds are very small for two persons and the staff are not happy to work there. Furthermore, the hotel charged us 40 USD more for each friend coming less than an hour, just chilling because « it’s the policy to take always more ». In final, we have to pay for 6 persons whereas the room have only 4 beds... that’s unacceptable, I never saw that, just have the impression to be a cash cow. According to me, it s better to book other local hotel, less expensive and much more FLEXIBLE. I’m so disappointed by the brand.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff doesn’t speak English, this is uncomfortable. Window in room very dirty. View great , window dirty
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Some sea view, nice rooms, free parking, clean.
Cons: Only hotel in Colambia without breakfast included. Can't think of a reason. Location is not central, although still close to the center.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was great
Cons: People are not the most collaborative
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Nice comfortable rooms. Good buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Fridge and safe in room. Good value for the money
Cons: The only thing that bothered me was that being a Hilton they don’t provide you with bottled water in the room. Only one tiny (8oz?) welcome bottle of water and we where 3 in the room. Other than that nothing else worth mentioning.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else!!! The location FAB! Bang in the centre of the historic town and 1 block from the Cathedral and Parque de novias which is full of great bars and reataurants. The room we had was big, bright, had a beautiful balcony with hammoc overlooking the courtyard. And the largest comfiest bed and crisp clean linen!! Aircon too which made for a very comfortable night sleep. The authentic colombian Arepas for breakfast were delicoous!!! The staff were also very helpful and pointed out some great recomendations for the area.
Cons: The plunge pool (whilst I am sure is perfectly clean - in fact we saw them cleaning it) doesnt look too appealing and so was the only thing that didnt live up to our expectations. Also no hot water in the shower which even in the Santa Marta heat we would have liked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a great location, rooms are beautiful and unique, breakfast is delicious and staff wonderful. Highly recommend!

Overview Reviews
Great republic house in the middle of the historic center of Santa Marta, Colombia.Very convenience to all icons (Tayrona Park) of the city.4 blocks to the Sea.Near to most well known beaches.Walking distance to Supermarkets and restaurants. Two blocks to the Cathedral.House full furnished!.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great patio Great location Nice staff Good breakfast
Cons: A bit overpriced for the area They also charged us 40 000 just for an extra person
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The B&B was in a great location, very central but far enough away from all the action that you aren't affected by the noise. My room was in the back and was very quiet. The house itself is lovely. Lots of unique touches, and the roof deck is AWESOME. I didn't spend as much time there as I'd have liked to. The staff was lovely and accommodating. I spent one night in Minca and then returned, and they were really nice about letting me leave my big suitcase there. The breakfast was simple but very good. Highly recommended.
Cons: There is a very steep and narrow spiral staircase to get to the two rooms upstairs (where I was). I frankly felt a little unsafe every time I went up and down, especially when I had my big heavy backpack. It wouldn't stop me from staying there again, but it wasn't fun.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was nice, it's a very charming house and you really feel at home here.
Cons: The bathroom was very small. If you want to go out at night, maybe it's better to stay closer to the action as this is a few blocks away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, charming little guest house. Very accommodating
Cons: Breakfast could be a bit earlier
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is in a quiet street in the old town, just a few streets from the cathedral. The house is charming, and stylish with antiques and a great rooftop terrace with hammocks. We stayed in different rooms as we returned after a trip to Ciudad Perdida. The upstairs twin room is comfy but the bathroom is really tiny. We preferred the downstairs rooms. The staff is very nice, and the whole place is very relaxing. Would stay there again. I love places with a history.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Unique guesthouse with friendly staff, walking distance between the beach, tour offices, ATM, restaurants and market area (where you can take the bus to Tayrona) The room had comfortable beds and good air conditioning. The staff were very kind and accommodating even though some of their English was limited. It’s a small guesthouse with only a few rooms (note that some of them are up small and windy stairs) so they really make you feel at home. Good breakfast. Really cute rooftop garden with hammocks to relax.
Cons: The bathroom was very very tiny and unfortunately the shower stopped working halfway through our stay, however we were able to use a bathroom on a different floor.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Super nice and friendly people! Good Breakfast. roof-veranda with hammocks!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house, lovely staff, good location just a few blocks walk from the beach. The WiFi worked well, there was air conditioning in the room and a beautiful roof terrace. We really enjoyed our stay!
Cons: The bathroom was very, very small but as girls it didn’t matter but may be difficult for a larger man!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel consists of an old house with a really beautiful style: The 'living room' is equipped with a lot of old gadgets and pictures. The roof terrace has a lot of plants and looks like a garden. It is hard to put it in words what makes the place special. Definately try it out if you want something different, a place with a 'soul'!
Cons: I can not complain about anything!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and nice
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Front desk can be a little slow when checking in and out.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff is helpful & friendly. Air conditioning was excellent which is important. Breakfast was good.
Cons: The property could use some renewal. Things look somewhat worn. Pools have a lot of chlorine. Sand on the beach gets very hot. Breakfast while good is not as varied as it could be. It’s a 20 minute taxi ride to center or bay.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness of staff
Cons: Birds flying around and taking food off tables while eating on the patio
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The hammock
Cons: Very poor value for the money. The room is much smaller than the photos lead you to believe. The hotel is in great need for a refresh.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private car park
Cons: Very friendly and helpful staff
7.5 Good
Pros: Good hotel, with friendly staff, although no one spoke English, luckily my husband who spoke Spanish was able to communicate with them. Rooms were big and spacious, clean and good air conditioning. The room service was very expensive. Good hotel for family and children as they had lots of activities for them.
Cons: The food and drink was on the expensive side. The beds were not very comfortable. The main swimming pool was on the small side too.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff, food at the dinner.
Cons: Room condition, wifi, location.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I liked the variety of the breakfast, the fruits, the breads. Some decaf coffee is needed. The juices were delicious.
Cons: Everything in the breakfast was good. But the dinners were not so varied. The taste could have been better. Poor offer. The staff present in the kitchen is very amiable.

Pros: the breakfast was great and a good "spread" for the money.

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: They stated that the hotel was located in the Rodadero, the hotel is located over 15 min away by taxi.I booked the hotel based on being located in the Rodadero region. I requested a refund with no luck..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place, the hot shower, the staff, the food!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel with a great pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room with a lot of space and storage room. Good breakfast and a nice restaurant for lunch/dinner.
Cons: There could be more tents for shade at the beach. No restaurants in the neighbourhood, so you have to take a taxi if you want to eat somewhere else.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good resort. Nice pools. Friendly staff.
Cons: The information says Sea view, but I got a room on the ground floor without any view at all. Nobody speaks english. Little english spoken
6.7 Good
Cons: The staff was rude whenever me and my friend required their help. Also when we first arrived and wanted to check in they told me that because I was Colombian, I needed to pay IVA, even though I was using my Canadian passport. I have been to others hotels (in Colombia) where I make the reservation while still in Canada, and used my Canadian passport so that I don’t have to pay taxes. However, the lady at reception told me that I would have to check in with my Colombian passport which should be a choice since I have double nationally. At the end I explained that I should not have to pay for it and showed her that I need the laws. I did not end up paying for taxes, but their taking advantage of the people that don’t know better so they pay for the IVA even when presenting a foreign passport. As well, the day of the check out, we got a bill from “hotel insurance” which nobody ever told us about. When I asked reception they were incredible rude and said “just make sure that you come and pay for it before you leave” and all I was asking is why they never informed us about it. Finally, they never gave us a tour of the hotel or installations and we had to find our way around it! Even when we were on the beach (close to the hotel) we were walking towards a little bridge and we had locals stop us and tell us that it wasn't safe to walk/bring our valuable things (phone etc) and we’re surprised that no one ever told us about it! If you're looking for a restaurant within a hotel that serves a variety (more international) of food you wont find it here! As well, the COMPLEMENTARY breakfast is always the same and with no much flavour! IF YOURE TAKING A TAXI, ASK THEM TO GET YOU A LOCAL TAXI BECAUSE THEY OVER CHARGE DUE TO THEIR WORKING WITH THE HOTEL! (Apparently they don’t carry enough change so if you don’t pay exact, you don’t get all your change back)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: great breakfast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was okay. Location a little out of the way, but close to airport as we were flying the next day. It had a beautiful, private beach and pool. The room had two bathrooms. We were three women, so that was a plus!
Cons: They close access to the beach at 6 and pool at 8.
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff service at the reception and help, amazing
Cons: Although the stuff at the reception is extremely nice, the restaurant is not good enough for the level that the hotel sells. The quality should be better, taking into account that is really far away from everything
6.7 Good
Pros: Well the hotel is beautiful Cleaning service is no really good the bathrooms need more cleaning ... lady’s in the front desk are very friendly ... security’s good a little far the city but is okay ...
Cons: Bathrooms no really clean

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is great. Beautiful sunsets over the Caribbean sea and a big pool.
Cons: The food could certainly be improved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was exceptionally nice, the rooms were very clean and well taken care of, the on site tour agency was excellent, the food was great, and the beach front location with pool perfect to enjoy the tropical sun...My wife and I travel often and we do not usually go back to a place once we have experienced it....only exceptional places get a return trip....Tamaca is on that very short list
Cons: There has been an error with a partial prepayment that needs to be clarified with booking...booking applied an early small partial payment, but the hotel claims they never received it. They checked their records and contacted booking, also, they will take it up with booking when I send them the copy proof of the payment sent to the agency and will return the partial payment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s very clean, excellent location by the beach and near the shopping mall! Staff is super nice and attentive! It’s my go-to hotel!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: People were so nice there. Delicious food
Cons: The balcony
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: They should improve the wi fi connection ASAP! IT is terrible!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: you can't beat the location.
Cons: This property has Prime Beach location with direct access from the pool to the beach. They also provide Beach canopies free of charge, and the restaurant next door provides waiter service for drinks and food which I highly recommend and his name is Jefferson
10.0 Excellent
Cons: There was no wifi the entire day and I was not able to get in touch with my family once I arrived which caused a lot of concern.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great location. AC working, room was clean, TV had lots of channels. Pool was great so was beach. Salon and tours on property were a nice touch.
Cons: Infraestructure and service. The hotel attention to detail is needed. Customers have to flag service workers/waiters rather than them coming to the table. The food is not quality at all - do yourself a favor and go out to eat. The construction is flawed. All rooms have an opening above the door and the bathrooms have a window and not an exhaust. As a consequence, you hear noise from your neighbors and street until long hours of the night.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Was close to the beach and the mall was across the street there was a local market down the street and Santa Marta central only a 15 minute cab drive
Cons: Nothing everything was excellent
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was wonderful and very helpful.
Cons: SO LOUD! The side of the hotel facing the beach is lovely, but the resort is on a busy street with nonstop traffic and beeping - even at all hours of the night and morning. Very hard to get comfortable and sleep well. Also, the rooms look nothing like the photos. They are not nearly as clean, bright or big!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hostel has a nice pool and it’s great to just relax there. In the evening it has a great atmosphere with good music.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed on the private room with a balcony. Had an amazing time with my best friend! The pool is clean everyday and the room as well. The room is beautiful and I suggest it for couples or families. You really get what you pay for and the staff are super friendly and very helpful! I highly recommend this place it’s very beautiful and the beach is so nearby and the city center only 10 minutes drive. The area felt safe enough too and it’s quite cheap in terms of stores compared to Cartagena. I’m looking forward to coming back next time!
Cons: If I had to nitpick, I’ll say the dog Loki can be a little bit aggressive at night but most of the day time he was calm and sweet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Location, great staff, great vibes. It is the best place to spend a few days and meet new friends, close to all amenities, shopping mall, beach, restaurants and night life.
6.3 Good
Pros: Clean and tidy
Cons: I believe the cleaners this day steal things from guests. I was the only one in the room most of the day i was resting and my girlfriends bag got broken into/damaged. Good thing nothing of value was inside..
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great vibes, cheap
Cons: Pool was not clean and no shower at the pool
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything. Staff are amazing you will feel so welcome here they made everything super easy for me and were very helpful. Rooms and bathroom always clean, amazing pool, the food is spot on make sure you try the quesadillas and eggs for brekkie. Overall very chilled out vibe great to just lounge around next to the pool and bar was easy to meet people, they have a cocktail happy hour every night from 7-9 as many buckets you can drink for 30k pesos make sure you join Haha.I lost my credit card before going on the lost city trek, the hostel manager went to the bank on 2 occasions on my behalf to see if I had left it there and made sure I got it back so grateful for their help !! Would definately stay again if I had the chance !!
Cons: Not alot really, if I had to try and complain might be shower pressure in bathroom was a little low.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly backpacker staff, hostel played fun games with the guests, pool and cocktails were great
Cons: Food really really needs to improve.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Ok this place is nice. Very clean. Nice pool area. Good kitchen. Comfortable beds. Wifi was pretty typical. Lots of good common areas. The location is unbeatable. Bus’s to Santa Marta or the Airport are a 2 minute walk. The Beach is a 10 minute walk. Bus to Cartagena 5 minute walk. Plenty of restaurants and shopping just minutes away also. The staff were excellent and spoke English. Security was also good.
Cons: I stayed in a private room with shared washroom, on the 3rd floor. My designated washroom was down 4 flights of stairs and past reception. In a very public area and busy 50% of the time. My other option was even further away, down some more stairs, outside past the pool. In my opinion I find these options unreasonable. Also. I found out at checkin that outside alcohol is not allowed, as they have a bar. So expect to pay more then you would at the store. Didn’t see that information anywhere when I booked the place.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff was very friendly
Cons: Only one bathroom for the dorm. Had to wait until people showered just to use the toilet. Alternate bathroom downstairs was closed.
7.9 Good
Pros: Amazing pool and tasty juices!
Cons: The food quality could be a lot better seeing as the location is quite far out

Pros: A private room with en suite in this hotel was cheaper than most of the hostels. Jorge was fantastic! So friendly, he and his boss Javier were so helpful in organising a tour for me to Tayrona park the day after I arrived (these can book up quickly). Jorge was just lovely, and couldn’t do enough to help, the breakfast he cooked was good and he was just always smiling and friendly. Really enjoyed my stay here.
Cons: It was all great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent breakfast, good coffee, superbly helpful staff, lots of plants and a big mango tree overshadowing the central patio, small pool is fantastic to cool down on hot days, and to keep kids / overheated family members happy. Taganga Beaches ans Tayrona National Park from there by Boat within 5 kilometers of Hotel So fishing diving snorkeling or boat trip to Tayrona Close. The historical area of Santa Marta within 3-6 blocks of hotel
Cons: Having to pay 15,000 COP Extra for Air Conditioning It was a hotel not a hostel so I really have no right to complain I could not access kitchen. You if driving your own car or a rental must pay 9000-15,000 COP per Night or 20,000-25,000 COP per whole day to some SHADY DISHONEST parking garage owners nearby. You can days park on he street no problem.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This place was great for me to while away a few days while my husband did the lost city trek. The aircon was excellent as was the wifi. Good breakfast. I also enjoyed the pool. The mossies in the courtyard were the only annoying part but they come with the territory.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very helpful.
Cons: The restaurant was comically bad. They really need to improve the quality of the food that they offer. In addition, it is expensive for the quality. Hotels in Cartagena were $50 USD more expensive and a whole other class above.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A fantastic stay at Casa Carolina. Excellent staff who spoke very good English and couldn’t do enough to help us. I would especially recommend the boat tour that takes you to deserted beaches around Tayrona. The rooms were clean with a very comfortable extra large bed. The relaxation areas of the hotel were great as there were several swimming pools, jacuzzis and hang out areas so it never felt crowded. I would highly recommend it!
Cons: The street that the hotel is on isn’t the nicest but feels safe enough.
