Location and views
Nothing to dislike
As we entered the room for the first time the bath hub was full of hair from the former guest. Unfriendly staff, rude receptionist, poor breakfast. Very long waiting time for coffee or tea to be served because of beimg understaffed.
Loved the location overlooking San Sebastian. Pool was very relaxing and was nice to be slightly away from the town but easily able to access the beach and the old town when we needed to. Really enjoyed the Fernicular too.
Slightly understaffed at breakfast time. Staff at bar could be more friendly
Staff do not seem to care. Understanding of English very poor.
The location and the spectacular views from the lounge, bar, and breakfast room. The hotel is also in good shape and clean.
Breakfast was rather minimal for a hotel of this grandeur. So were the cocktail offerings at the -beautiful- bar. The pool was great, but it was disappointing there were no spa facilities. Information about the facilities were minimal. For example, it turned out there was a cable train providing transportation up and down the mountain, making for an easy connection between the hotel and the beach - but we had to discover this by accident! And then it turned out that you could get a discount using the cable train, if you were a hotel client - but we had to discover *this* too by accident!
The Mercure San Sebastián Monte Igueldo hotel is ideally located on Mount Igueldo, offering panoramic views over the sea and the Bay of La Concha. It is connected to the city by a century-old funicular railway, one of the main tourist attractions in the area. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, open during the summer months, meeting rooms for business meetings or events, and the El Torreón restaurant where guests can discover Basque cuisine, which is one of the best in the world.
