The car was good and staff was friendly but we were charged more than expected and never received an answer when we questioned this. The amount quoted at the pick-up desk was slightly higher (about $10) than the quote. We planned to return the car with a fulll tank of gas but due to unexpected traffic we weren’t able to stop and were charged $48 (returned it with half of tank, charged for a full tank) and were charged an additional $36 for a recovery fee which we have no idea what this was for or why it was charged.
The credit card hold took 3 business days to be released back to my credit card. That is way too long.

There were hidden cost. The staff was not friendly and told me the insurance we paid with kayak was not the one that they required so I had to pay an extra insurance to be able to pick up the car. Then they said my drivers license was not easy to read so they made me wait longer (this didn’t happen to me the week before when I rented with other company using the same drivers license)

I like that Hertz is pushing forward with AI and the contactless rental. I was supposed to be on the Gold Board, so I could just look at the board and go find my car. I checked in correctly and everything was ready. But the flight took off 4 hours late, landing at 3:30am -- after the FLL rental center was closed. My (and other renters') reservations disappeared. Thankfully, Hertz brought on a human a little after 4am, and they helped the line of waiting customers. Hertz was able to match most people up with the car type they had reserved. What disappointed me EXTREMELY is that Hertz KNEW some of its customers were coming on that flight that now landed in the middle of the night... yet Hertz didn't send A SINGLE TEXT after the one saying they'd text us 1 hour prior to landing. It's as if the Hertz system fell apart. None of us (who were already exhausted and confused by the car-rental center being closed) received a text confirming that a car would be ready, nor that they knew our flight was coming,... Communication from Hertz just vanished.

Unless something changes, my credit card reflects a charge of over $200 for a one day rental. For a Nissan Kicks. Because I checked in online, and opted to pick up without standing in line, there was no notification of a hold or additional charge being made. I'm going to see what happens in a few days, and if this is not corrected I will obviously have to address this. It's really frustrating and annoying - makes one want to rather drive, not fly, and then not have to be subjected to this.
The employee was wonderful. The car was clean and new, but we booked a midsize SUV and got a ‘Kicks’ that was uncomfortable and so small my husband and my elbows were bumping each other over the center console . My real issue is the up charging. I paid ahead of time online to save some money, and when we arrived, they tacked on $400+ of extra fees for tolls, another driver, etc. It honestly felt like a huge scam.

Terrible experience. Would NEVER use them again. It took an hour in a very short line to get to even speak to someone at the desk. They were screwing around with us asking for auto insurance (which I don’t have and have never been asked for when renting a car, and my credit card covers rentals). They said my credit card coverage wasn’t enough. I’ve rented cars plenty of times and have never been forced into buying MORE auto insurance coverage. When my partner asked to switch the reservation into her name because she did have auto insurance, they told us that we could not do that. They also said we could not make a new reservation with them at the desk which was completely false as they advertised available cars to anyone who wanted to walk up and make a reservation. They took their sweet time despite being told we had a rush to the hospital for a family emergency. Completely lacking empathy and any sort of morals. I would never rent from them again. It was an absolute nightmare and full on scam.

Price was great, service another matter. Not enough people at the desk and wait were long. Got held up when they asked for certificate of insurance and I was never asked for this before. They also overcharged me for Tolls and when I brough the car back they didn't care that I had no radio/media all week as the volume was broken and the car needed oil and warning light came on.
We had a reservation, but when we arrived, we were told the car was sold out. We were stuck there for about three hours and witnessed them giving a car to someone else. Despite begging and even offering to pay a higher price to get a car, they refused to help. In the end, we had to make a new reservation with another car rental company and ended up paying ten times the original price. Economy is an unreliable and untrustworthy car rental company that completely ruined our vacation in Fort Lauderdale. If I could, I would give them zero stars.

Location is 10 mins from the airport. They up sell you on the insurance and car is not as advertised. I was given a Nissan economy car when it was advertised as a Mini Cooper. I'll never use Economy again, especially @ FLL at $250 for 3 days.
Loved the ease of picking up the rental and return was the easiest I have ever done. Excellent customer service and no issues.

Left behind a pair of glasses in the car. Went the next day to try to retrieve them. Manager refused to let staff check if glasses had been left behind and insisted that we submit an online claim. Online system to submit claim malfunctioned many times before being able to submit the claim. Also, when we called customer service, we were asked to go directly to the rental counter at the airport.

We couldn’t wait,called to cancel,received a cancellation number verbally and was told that we would receive an email confirmation which never happened. My issue was - in the hotel I was at, I had to use valet parking - the valet driver hit a pipe with the rental car. When I tried to call the official Thrifty number on the contract, I couldn't get a live person AND (as crazy as it seems) kept bringing my to a sales line selling Life Lock. This happened about 10 times. Not kidding. After 9.5 hours of phone calls, paperwork and bringing the damaged car to the Miami airport, I got a replacement car. The customer service person told me to bring the car to the Miami Airport. Note - when I brought it to the damaged car to the Miami Airport, the person at the Thrifty car rental refused to replace it. Again, not kidding. After about 1 hour of arguing with him and trying to call customer service back, they FINALLY accepted it. The experience was terrible. And, I'm not kidding about the 9.5 hours from the time of the accident - 3:58PM till 1:30AM I was dealing with this issue.
I made an online rental and when I arrived there was no car available to rent and they did not know when one would come in. Safe yourself the hassle and rent from one of the on site airport rental companies.

The search process was confusing. I am sure I selected the need to rent at Miami airport, but the search results showed Fort Lauderdale airport. I made the mistake of booking, and I lost the money for two days of car rental

Do not use Kayak or Expedia!!!! Never got the car!! Called the number on the Expedia reservation form for them and got an out of service message. Called the number from the sign at the airport and got dead air and static. Looked them up on line and called that number, also not in service. Went to their website and they don’t have the US listed as a place they rent cars from. Cannot find a number for Expedias customer service, everything I tried sent me to their FAQ page with no way to contact them. Their live chat function didn’t have a live person and they never returned my request to be contacted. Next we tried Kayak customer service since we reserved through this site and can’t get anybody to talk to. Both Kayak and Expedia websites say they are not responsible for refunds as you are booking with the actual rental company. Never got a car, never got a customer service rep to contact me. Had to go into the airport and get a car from Hertz. Don’t use a third party reservation site to book. Find the deal and go to the actual website. Pay the extra $5 and actually get the vehicle. Will NOT be using either site again.

they don't accept most major insurances, and will make you pay at least $50/day extra to use theirs. It's about a 5 min tram ride from the airport, so plan accordingly. I wish i just paid a bit extra and rented from someone at the airport with more upfront pricing.

I rented two identical cars at the same time, but one was regular priced, and the other was over 50% more expensive, so I asked them to make it the same price, but they said no, so I said I would cancel them all, and they said they would cancel them without a penalty, but when I checked my Visa card today, $173.96 (can) was taken out. For TWENTY minutes after returning our rental a wallet was mistakenly left in the vehicle. After twenty mins we returned and were given the wallet, but without the thousand dollars that was in it. I didn't receive help at the time and needed to catch our flight. However, since then my reports to Alamo have gone unanswered. The policy is they aren’t responsible for unattended items… no surprise there. But their lack of interest in rooting out an employee who so plainly stole a significant amount of money is… disheartening. Had my concern been escalated at the time, the employee could have been caught red-handed and the money even potentially returned. Instead, I’ve heard nothing from Alamo. I’ve left website, messaging, phone, and customer service chat complaints. No response. No response to my requests they view camera footage and the log of who was in the vehicle. At this point I’m frustrated that this hasn’t been addressed. If they aren’t going to return the money (because they didn’t take the time to speak to their employees) they should at least police them when reports of theft are made. If not, customers will have to make actual police reports.

They couldn’t process my payment at the counter and I had to go outside to another person, which took a lot longer to get done.
When I went to the rental counter with my paperwork, I started to ask a question, and I was just cut off. "I just need to see your credit card and Driver's License. I gave her the ID and she just turned away from me. She then handed me a contract to sign. I looked at it and asked why $38 was added to my bill and she said you came early so that's an extra day. I thought if Ii rented it at 9:30 and returned it at 9:30 I was OK. Lesson learned. I asked if I could pick my car and she said No, that is the only car they have.... I was thinking of buying a Rav4 or Tucson and wanted to test one. She said no! Even though we just walked past them in the lot. Very Blunt Cust. Service! I asked a different agent and they said it is the trap when you pre-rent and tell them a time.

The car was nice and clean. The price was good even though the cost was a good bit more than the original contract. I pre checked in so I could just pick a car and go. Their offer to me, I did not request this. When we tried that we were told to go to the counter. After a 45 minute wait we were told to see an attendant to get a car. Attendant told us to pick one out and go. Nice and smooth return. Person checking us back in was very nice.

This was the worst and most expensive experience. 1) they would not honor my reservation 2)they didn’t have a van available 3) I was charged $400 extra because I didn’t have a reservation and they gave me a SUV, which was a tight fit. 3) didn’t leave from the rental agency until 7pm and had to have the truck back at 6pm 4) Was treated like I was a foreigner who didn’t understand English, I was born in Florida 5) my $532 reservation was over charged to $1229.00 6) Elder abuse Our ages ranged from 64-78. 7) will contact the State Attorney General office this week about the elder abuse and illegal price gouging. 8) I was told to get two cars or change my date, since he didn’t have a van. I showed him my reservation sheet and he said it didn’t matter! The person at the counter for Dollar was Antony! He bragged about what he did to the young man that check at the out going station! Insulting and degrading and embarrassing!!

It was awful. No way to change a reservation. Kayak to Expedia to dollar.. no one had any idea what my reservation number was.
We were told whet to park the return and then we were told that the shuttle was picking us up about 1000 yards away and we had to move our 3 full size pcs of luggage ourselves work little assist over uneven pavement. We are both about 70 so it was a hardship. Since the plane was delayed my reservation was canceled. I do not know car models very well at all I'm 6 feet and the sales agent offered me a Nissan Sentra which I only later learned is a compact car My original reservation was for an intermediate size car. I think I had a really great price originally. I am fairly certain I did not get my original good deal. But I learned a valuable lesson. From now on only Enterprise.

U-Save does not reveal prior to booking the car, that they do not accept most major insurances like mine (Geico). Even with full coverage rental insurance, U-Save will only rent to you, if you pay the obnoxious daily insurance premium that they offer. U-Save also charges an unbearable deposit ($1500-$2000). I did not get the vehicle. I went to my hotel and rented from another company the next day.

We rented a car. Beyond that everything about the experience was extremely poor and almost felt like a scam. The pick up is off site, serviced by a shuttle. The check out took 90 minutes and the insurance issues were extensive. They clearly mark down the car cost and make it all up on insurance and then some. I even got the kayak insurance ahead hoping to manage cost. They refused to accept it. This all just feels dishonest. The car we ordered was a midsize SUV. We got a compact. The car worked fine. The check in process was disorganized and there was no parking. The shuttle was delayed. Overall I would do everything you can to stay away from this company. The price you see online is not the price you pay.

I am very disappointed in kayak for supporting U-Save car rental that operates a scam near by FLL. This review is a warning to anyone who extended to rent from the company. They will scam you in daylight. Kayak needs to stop advertising low car rental rate on behalf of u-save….then for the renter to find out they need pay $600 at a rate $100 per day for insurance despite my full coverage Geico insurance. The price that they quoted us ended up being way more expensive on top of that they still haven't returned or deposit and it's been over 20 days, the car was in pristine condition we dropped it off full tank of gas nothing was wrong. The first time I called they said that it would be returned within 7 to 15 business days and that I could call back after that if it hasn't happened. I just called them and it's been over 20 days and he was trying to give me some excuse that they told him that it was going to be 30 to 40 days and when I asked him to clarify that he said he was going to call me back and he hung up. Terrible terrible company I really want a refund if I'm being honest I'll never use Kayak again if this is the kind of things that happen when you do

Then found out every normal service that comes with a car was an extra $30 a day, each. Left. Went and rented from somewhere else. I WILL NEVER USE YOUR COMPANY AGAIN. What a rip-off! $321 for 4 days for a Toyota Camry that stunk, rattled, and was not in the best of shape. I thought since the advertised price was $14/ day, plus the $90 insurance I purchased would be it. The girl at the desk told me that Florida requires this insurance and that insurance and this coverage. She lied. I found out after the fact all the things she said were untrue. For this price, I could have gotten a nicer car, with a reputable company, and felt so much better about my first-time renting a car in another state.

A lot of hidden fees, the car was dirty. It did not have windshield wiper fluid and it smelled very funny and drove like it’s been abused.

The car was very old and had many dents. The counter person said I could use my insurance, which has $100,000 deductible, but when I signed for the car-they charged an additional $26 a day for loss of use addendum. I have never experienced that ever before. It seems like just an extra way to get money.
This company is really shady somewhere on the corner. No one picks up the phone there’s no proper service.

Terrible service at the office. The wait to check in was over an hour. There was an endless series f confusing charges on top of the advertised price. Finally, there was a $2500 deposit before I could rent the car. I will never use this company again and will never recommend it to anyone.

We prepaid for a vehicle, pickup after 12pm- there was no way to change the pickup time when making reservations. Our flight didn't arrive until 5pm but given that we had prepaid for our desired vehicle, it seemed logical they would have one there for us. During my flight I get a notice that they canceled car reservation since had not picked up yet, even though it was prepaid! Upon landing, the main phone number would not provide me a phone number for the specific pickup location, said that they would not refund my money, and that i needed to go to the location to see in any car was available for me, at additional costs to me. So we had to leave the airport, unsure if we had a rental car, get to the car agency, and they only have SUVs available for TWICE the price of the car we had reserved! So we are stranded if we dont agree to the additional price. Very much a "Bait and Switch". Remember, we had PAID UP FRONT, there was no risk of them loosing rental money by holding our reserved car for us.

Please please please save yourself from a rental hell. Stick with one of the big names at the airport rental place. Not the bus outside of the airport to save a few dollars. We needed a minivan and they were the only ones to have one - so we took a chance and it was the absolute worst. They have no one working so everything took sooooo so long. They want to charge you for everything and only verbally talk you through it at a speed in which you can’t understand. Then when you try and ask clarifying questions, they just get annoyed as if you should have heard it the first time. They literally have like 2 people there and had a line of so many people for over an hour. Also, we live on the opposite side of the state of Florida and thought we had unlimited miles…. Nope. They said if you live within the state you only get 50 a day because of Uber/doordash etc. Clearly I didn’t go on vacation with 3 small children and click the extra 4-5 places in order to see that living in Florida voids the unlimited, so then we were forced to pay overage amounts bc we drove to key west and back. Complete nightmare of a company. Please just rent from Avis, enterprise, hertz, etc
The building was small and run down with work being done inside so ceiling tiles were down and we had to step over wires. I was forced to buy their insurance. I travel multiple times a year and have never had to show my personal insurance to a rental car company. My car was $83 and they made me get insurance that cost an additional $170. I had to examine my own car and take pictures. The parking lot has no signage so it's extremely easy to pass on a multi lane road.

They charge a lot of hidden fees that you don’t know about until you get there. Every customer in line questioned there hidden fees so I know it wasn’t just a concern of mine. The fees were more than the cost of the rental.

They didn't give me the car unless I pay them 150$ for insurance though I had a full collision insurance
We never got the car but paid in advance. We demand a full refund. The rep was extremely rude. Never, NEVER rent a car here under ANY circumstances. I bought a new car 2 weeks ago and through some snafu at Allstate Insurance, the app didn’t show collision insurance. (on a $27K financed car) I immediately called Allstate and had them fix the snafu. The rude rep at addcar told me I needed it to show I’d had the insurance for 90 days. I ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS! We had no car for our vacation, (hello Uber) and we lost all the money we prepaid to Kayak.

Operates under a numerous names. Hidden fees. Demands astronomical amount of coverage to use your own insurance and hides this fact until you are at the counter. Nearly a month has passed and deposit still not returned
