Plymouth hotels near Mayflower Museum

Pros: We stayed at the Rainbow lodge for a visit to the theatre Royal Plymouth to see Motown. It was ideally situated for the theatre and resturarants, the staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.

Pros: Lovely room. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful staff. We shall be back!

Cons: Everything was good. There was nothing to fault. See likes above.

Pros: Great central location. Excellent breakfast Lovely hosts. Ironing board and iron. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Lovely and clean with fresh towels.

Cons: Attic bedroom which due to the lovely weather was very hot but we had a fan and a fridge in the room and velux windows to open

Pros: Rainbow Lodge is beautifully appointed and extremely clean. Everything you can think of is provided and the addition of a fridge in the bedroom is much appreciated. The breakfast was very good and our host was extremely attentive, offering extra drinks and toast if required. There was a good selection of cereals and dried fruit, as well as fresh fruit. Hot food was cooked perfectly. The property is ideally located but, like most accommodation in Plymouth, parking is on street and therefore incurs an additional charge. We have been fortunate to find a parking space close by on both our visits to Rainbow Lodge.

Cons: I have given 3/4 for the breakfast because we have been offered a greater selection of cooked food elsewhere.

Pros: Location is ideal , the hosts are very welcoming & do anything to make your stay comfortable . we enjoyed our stay.

Pros: The Rainbow was booked at the last minute but was a pleasant surprise. The room was welll setup and comfortable and was handy to the port area for restaurants, pubs and bars.

Pros: Sue and Cheryl were lovely people and made us very welcome. Very good location for exploring Plymouth on foot

Cons: The only downside is parking , but they helped us by suggesting buying a parking card which saved us money during our stay

Cons: Hosts seemed a bit unfriendly when we arrived. We booked this b&b for the parking offered then had to pay an extra £5 per day for a visitors permit (even though the council website said £2). The room was not cleaned well and we were told off for leaving an egg white!

Pros: Very friendly owners, nice, clean room with everything you could possibly need, as well as a huge bed. If I need a room in the area again I will definitely be visiting here. Would definitely reccomend.

Cons: Breakfast was v.v. poor overcooked bacon (which i hate) Sausages were v. cheap chipolates not the local sausages I have had before & burnt toast. Poached eggs were fine but overwhelmed by the rest Needs (considerable) improvement as I was early and they weren't rushed I know I should have complained at the time but hey I was busy and for £90 I expect a decent breakfast not one I could have done a lot better

Pros: Room was spacious and clean, breakfast was very good with good choice. Hotel positioned right next to the Hoe and only about a 15min walk down the seafront to the Barbican or only about 10min to the town.

Cons: Didn’t have a separate shower cubical in our room (no 2) so my wife was unable to access the shower, which was over the bath. Lock on bathroom door faulty.

Pros: Reception and bar area nice.

Cons: Rooms tired and in need of urgent update, bathroom small with shower in bath positioned close to the toilet which made access difficult.

Pros: Great location and friendly staff. The highlight was definitely the breakfast. Fantastic variety of food with amazing views over the Hoe. The swimming pool was clean and inviting. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Cons: Some areas of the hotel were starting to look a little tired and could have done with a spruce up. The room, although good, was just missing that something extra that you expect when you pay this price. We also selected a double bed when booking but upon arrival found it to be 2 singles which were not even lined up together properly.

Pros: Great location for The Hoe and on to The Barbican. Powerful shower and good night's sleep.

Pros: The view was outstanding - position of hotel was excellent. Staff in Drakes Bar were excellent and service in Drakes Bar was very good. The parking was convenient.

Cons: The service - which is not at all good and in fact terrible for a 4-star hotel!! Seriously understaffed at times. We had to wait at reception for over ten minutes to check in after a tiring journey. We had a further long wait (more than ten minutes) to be served with a drink in the Penthouse Bar - this was because there was only one server trying to pour drinks for a rush of customers at the same time as seating people in the Marco Pierre White restaurant and also taking food orders!!! Breakfast was not much better as although it was only averagely busy, we had to ask twice for a pot of coffee. We stayed for three days and for two of those, when we returned to our room in the afternoon, neither keycard would work. We were told at reception that this was because we had kept them near our mobile phones (not true!) and the next day we were just told it was bad luck!! The exception to this was Drakes Bar where the service was good and the staff were cheerful and very helpful! Our room - which was classed Executive- was not particularly welcoming or comfortable. It was large, but there was nowhere comfortable to sit. The shower room was tiny and the door on the walk-in shower leaked seriously all over the floor, so much so that the water ran out onto the carpet in the room and had left a large stain. It was difficult to find somewhere to leave a towel where it wouldn’t get soaked - likewise if left your PJs on the floor whilst showering!!

Pros: The hotel was nice and quiet, the view from the room was very good and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't use the bar or the restaurant so can't comment on those.

Cons: The bathroom was small and the bath was fitted with shower screens at one end and the toilet cistern was tight up to the other end which made it very difficult to get in and out of the bath. In addition this seemed to make it difficult for the bath to be cleaned, which consequently made it slow to drain.

Pros: Lovely restaraunt on the penthouse floor Marco Pierre whites restaurant nice atmosphere Hotel was clean and tidy

Cons: The bed was really hard and so we're the pillows I was on the 6th floor I was told it was the quiet floor but this wasn't the case noise from outside and noise from others coming back from the bar early hours of the morning

Pros: Very nice room, executive room got access to VIP lounge with complimentary happy hour drinks and continental breakfast, but sky TV was intermittent with faults all weekend, very noisy doors for neighbours and took 20 minutes of constant calling to get room service one evening and ended up having to go down to reception to sort it out. If these things were sorted then a very desirable romantic stay with sea views.

Pros: Comfortable bed. Good location.

Cons: Thought the price a little expensive and breakfast at the price charged should have been included. No booklet in room to see what services the hotel provided and Sunday morning the phone call to reception took ages for them to reply.

Pros: The Sea views from our room were fantastic. A very bright large comfy room The location of the hotel between the seafront and town centre was really good.

Cons: Toilet-bath room door need to be fixed. Handles of bath tub are not totally safe, spiky inside.

Pros: Splendid view over Plymouth Hoe provided you get a sea view room. Good restaurant and swimming pool, sports area.

Cons: Watch out for the parking wardens, they're very efficient! Make sure you have a parking ticket.

Pros: Location, it was very good value for money, we managed to park in the underground car park which was good. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation, but that didn’t have any effect on our stay. Would definitely stay there again

Minimal parking, which was paid for and couldn’t get a space, charged £25 and kept card open which then on departure was told nothing was needed to pay as I paid for breakfast up front, to get home and find out that the hotel have took another £20 out of my account without authorisation, “Freud” Staff = attitude! Very disappointed TBH especially when adding up the total cost for staying at this hotel! Will most definitely be avoiding this hotel in future visits! disgusted! Doesn’t even come close! In relation to parking they charge you £7.50 a day and you may not even get a space, so you end up parking in Sainsbury’s! Which is great when you have suitcases and pushchairs to bring, with limited friendly access There’s more but think I’ve wrote enough.

Pros: There was a good variety in both cooked, and if preferred a simple breakfast. Staff were very accommodating and surroundings comfortable.

Cons: There would only be one comment I would make, is we thought drinks in the bar were very expensive, because of this we drank the occasional drink in the bar but mainly drank outside.

Pros: Stayed in pretty much all the Copthorne hotels in the UK now - with no exception, Plymouth had comfy beds and pillows as expected. Nice hot powerful showers Friendly staff Location is ideal, in walking distance between city centre and the Hoe/Barbican. Onsite parking bonus.

Pros: Great interior design, nice touches in the room and bath, nicely sized room, great restaurant. Overall really enjoyed my stay.

Cons: Shower took quite a while to warm up. Exterior could do with some updating.
