The view was amazing. We were upgraded (I assume because our room would have interfered with the hearts they were displaying for covid-19). Parking fees were waived.
Toilet had some marks in it (my bf went and asked the housekeeping lady to clean it and she said "I must have forgotten it" and then handed him a brush and gloves). There was also marks on the bed skirt in our room. The elevator also has an extra long delay when it arrives at the floor. Sink was outside the bathroom and toilet/bathtub were inside what felt like a closet. Mini fridge was unplugged as well (I could see them unplugging all with less stays but would expect them to plug it in for the guest they know are arriving).
We enjoyed everything...
The location of the hotel is ideal. The Falls, attractions and restaurants are within walking distance.
The hotel lobby and the rooms are shabby and run down. There is a mandatory $15. per night “resort fee” for virtually no amenities except regular coffee in the lobby and a small, not too clean indoor pool. There is no restaurant in the hotel nor could I find any snack machines. There are soda machines and ice machines on the even floors. Parking is available for $35. per night. The lot is directly behind the hotel but it is not well maintained, not well lit, or covered. When I inquired at the front desk about alternative parking, citing the public lots in front of hotel, I was told those lots weren’t an option. Our room was advertised as a premium room because of its view of the Falls. We were charged a premium rate for this room as well. While the room had a refrigerator and 2 cup coffee maker it offered little else. There were no charging ports and we had to unplug lights to free up outlets for our laptop and phones. The plastic cups weren’t replenished after we used them. The ancient bathroom consisted of a toilet and sink in a small closet while the whirlpool tub/ shower was in an alcove by the bed. All fixtures could use updating. The tub had several chips in it and the mirrors had a substantial crack by the shower head. I realize this hotel is in a touristy area but I have stayed in less expensive hotels in major cities that offer a better value.
The lady at the front told me that they can decorate room with balloons as it was my anniversary but when I arrived there was nothing in the room. I ask the receptionist bt he said there no staff to do it
The morning front desk lady went out her way to get us some hot chocolate for the kiddos. The pool and hottub were clean and great temperatures.
Hallways were freezing cold. But because of the covid 19 and low occupancy I understand this might have been cost reductions.
