Lovely helpful staff
The bathroom had just been renovated. The shower was not working well and the basin has a tap that didn't sit over the basin itself, very strange.
Staff were lovely and helpful, bar and restaurant were a pleasure to sit.in. location fab.
Bathroom radiator was not working so was cold in the morning, and the hotel is currently refurbing the rooms. Our room was quite nice but bathroom defo needs a makeover. No need for an early alarm call as the noise from the bin men and traffic made sure you were awake before 6am. Perhaps earplugs supplied by the hotel would be a good idea.
Great central location.
We booked the more expensive double room fo two nights but when we arrived there had been a confusion and we were moved into a rather old and tired front room over the entrance for one night which we were then left in. Worn out carpet, cracked and mouldy bathroom tiles and a bath with a repaired hole alongside handles coming off the wall were only just serviceable. It was clean but looked nothing like the rooms advertised. Breakfast service on Sunday was painful worst was the lack of tea and coffee which was not available, then was cold then we waited for a fresh batch to be made and had finished breakfast by the time it was ready. Monday breakfast was better but still only one small cup of coffee offered. At check out we raised the issues again and were promised a partial refund but this has not materialised. To be fair the hotel is being modernised but we certainly did not see the sorts of facilities and rooms advertised and felt rather let down by the whole experience.
The newly refurbished room was much better and was done to a better standard. The location of the hotel is great. You're straight out of the train station and into the hotel.
The first room we were allocated was very disappointing. The whole room was dated. I had to ask to have another room as I wasn't happy using the bathroom. The bath was very worn and needed replacing.
The breakfast was good but I was disappointed that the fried eggs were not freshly done for each customer. The staff were very attentive and the receptionist on Tuesday morning (15th November) was exceptionally helpful and unflustered under pressure. The staff in the restaurant were excellent and the food very good.
The fried eggs at breakfast could have been freshly fried (I am having to be picky here) and the coffee better.
