Great but hot...
The staff was nice, the rooms were clean, and the location was ideal. I would definitely recommend Leo House. It's just a great fuss-free place to stay for a quick weekend getaway.
We could not get the heater to turn off! We turned the knobs on the boilers all the way to be turned off but somehow the heat was still functioning fully, so our small room became really hot really fast even with the windows open. The first night I got very little sleep because of how hot it was, plus because we had the windows wide open so the traffic/garbage truck noises kept me up too. Also the one morning we finally didn't have plans for the morning- Sunday- there was no breakfast.
Location is very good
The front desk staff are far from been friendly The bed is very small The restroom and the bathroom accessory are in very poor condition. Water pressure is low and the temperature of it vary from ice cold to burning hot without touching the faucets
Cheap sleep, but grubby facility
staff very courteous and effective. Rooms had Wi-Fi
very, very shabby
Set in a well-maintained building from the early 20th century, the Leo House has been in operation since 1889. The location moved in the 1920s to the current heart of Manhattan's vibrant Chelsea neighborhood. The Leo House is a Catholic guesthouse that welcomes visitors of all faiths, though it certainly doesn't attract lively partiers.
The Leo House is a simple Catholic guesthouse in a historic building at a prime tourist location. Right on bustling 23rd Street, the guesthouse is across the street from the SVA Theater, which features popular movie premieres. Other popular destinations include the High Line, Madison Square Park, and the Flatiron. The Chelsea neighborhood offers a myriad of restaurants, bars, and shops that are all minutes away on foot. The C/E subway stops down the block, and the 1 line is also close, offering easy access to nearly anywhere in the city.
The rooms at The Leo House are small and spartan, with only one or two beds, a desk or chair. However, they are comfortable and clean and feature modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs. Some rooms still feature communal showers, but many rooms have been updated to have en-suite bathrooms.
The small rooms often bring guests to the lounge room and back to the garden patio. The Leo House abides by golden standards, such as no food allowed in rooms. The amenities offered at the classic hotel include common areas, a business center, a Catholic chapel, and breakfast for a fee. For guests staying on a longer trip, laundry facilities are available.
One of the most reasonably priced lodging options in Lower Manhattan, the Leo House is a great option for those who want to explore the city from a prime location.
