There is Nothing at all to like. It’s dark and dingy with like a hundred pods on one small floor and three floors of just that with no elevator. The pods are so tightly spaced that you could even hear someone breathing in the other “pod”. It was the most horrible experience I have had staying in a hostel. There are other places o have stayed at but just the noise factor of this “hostel” was the most disturbing and I couldn’t get even an hour’s sleep the entire night. Moreover the check in was horrible as well as I was asked to pay cash since their credit card machine wasn’t functioning and the owner actually asked me to got withdraw cash at 1am in the night to do that. Don’t recommend this stay at all.
Nothing to like.
The location is superb. I was worried about getting back to Penn Station on time. It's a block or so down the street! Super close to everything.
. It is safe, bare bones , no frills lodging. I'm a tall man so the cot is a little cramped, but I believe in their mission so I can look over a little discomfort for the cause. Also there's NO sound barriers but earplugs are provided.
Breakfast was served on a little table/kitchen table area (no sink) and was available around the clock, you can help yourself to some tea/coffee/chocolate milk no matter the hour! Convenient location, you can walk to the 28st station pretty quickly, or go up/down the 8th avenue for other stations. Being less than 5 minutes away from New York Penn Station is pretty cool too!
Having only one available power socket for charging electronic devices, and in my case (I haven't seen any other room than my own) it was located on a shelf above the bed, which could be a problem if you're a short person.
Close to downtown NY, close to bus station
The long staircase up to the rooms
The staff is so helpful and friendly! Its quiet and I felt safe and happy traveling alone. It is small, but totally worth it! The money going to a good cause made it even more worthwhile and would have paid more. I feel blessed to have found this place. Thank you!!!!
