The breakfast was good and timely. I think the rooms exceeded my expectations; however, did not measure up to the lobby. I was doubtful when I saw the lobby décor. Could use an upgrade. Overall, the hotel was really nice!
The lobby décor.
Size of room, it was clean, location of hotel was nice.
Size of shower was only complaint about experience. At this hotel.
location, helpful staff
Elevator wait could be shorter but I have yet to find one hotel within my budget in Empirestatebuilding area that's nas no problems in this department
Pros: Good location, room was big for NYC, bed was comfy
Cons: Day receptionist was rude af. I had to actually say "please stop arguing with me" and she treated me like I didn't know English, how hotels work, or New York. All three are wrong as I'm a native New Yorker and published writer who travels a lot. SHE RUINED IT with her pompous attitude as soon as I asked her why they needed a security deposit when the money for the room had already come out of the account. She could have just explained their bs policy. Instead, she kept telling I was wrong about my own bank account and then had an attitude about it on top of that. Gotta love that casual brown on brown racism of this hotel's front desk. I'll never be coming back because of this one b*tchy woman. The bathroom sink was clogged. The 'lounge' looked like the worst version of a Target employee's break room with sad machines that barely made coffee and don't work in off-hours so forget it if you need anything before 7am or after 10am. The toaster didn't work. Nowhere does it say this hotel is under construction. It's 2019 and they still have key cards that get demagnetized when you put them near a cell phone. It's 2019. This hotel wasn't cheap. Get key cards that actually work. But, the worst part was the one receptionist. Also, they don't have central air, only a wall unit, if that's something you care about. I wouldn't have paid that much had I known that. The receptionist though, she sucked.
The room was advertised as two queen beds, but had two full beds. With older teens and two adults it was not a pleasant surprise. We specifically chose this hotel for the queen size beds, so disappointing. The hotel lobby was under renovation so it was blocked by ugly large sheets of wood. Not welcoming. The room furniture are old and worn, and the bathroom is old outdated. Very small shower stall.
