You will need to provide your full valid driver’s license, which you have had for at least one year, as well as a secondary form of photo identification such as your passport, and a credit card in your name for the costs of your organised car hire at Naples Airport. Most of the hire car offices at Naples Airport are all located together in one building, at the edge of the main car park and Viale Comandante Umberto Maddalena, the main road running by the airport. When traveling through small towns or historic areas, you will find that many roads are narrow and cobbled and you may feel more comfortable in a compact vehicle if you are planning a lot of drives to and through these areas. Driving in Italy’s cities is not much more difficult than driving in most cities, though it can get quite congested and some drivers can be a little more aggressive than some may be used to. If your general itinerary includes some of these areas, but more generalised travel around the cities, towns and countryside, a standard vehicle is absolutely fine, but if traveling in a family or group you may be more comfortable in an SUV or van.
