The staff was very friendly. Parking was easy. Shuttle is a bonus. Inn breakfast was weak but suprised it was even offered. We enjoyed our stay and it was a great value for staying close to downtown!
The Inn side is not as nice as compared to the hotel side. The bar gets cut off and you get stuck behind a wall, but staff was attentive.
Love the bed! Room was very nice! The breakfast was quaint!
Breakfast was not elaborate, but ok. Hotel was in walking distance to Miller Park (1.9 miles), with shuttle available as well. We were hoping for close access to the Hank Aaron Bike Trail... that was about a 1.5 mile ride on city streets.
When we checked in, the clerk directed us to the Ambassador Inn (sister property across the street from the Ambassador Hotel, not as elegant as the Hotel). We weren't aware of this at the time of booking. Check-in was 4 pm, but our room wasn't ready until close to 5 pm. Although the clerk comped our $10 parking fee to make up for the late check-in, it was inconvenient sitting around waiting.
The room was very clean
The restaurant. It was our wedding anniversary. We were given a chocolate muse without us asking. Thought it was complimentary for our anniversary but we got charged for it on the bill. Had to wait an hour past four o'clock check-in time to get into room
Fairly close to our agenda locations, shuttle bus and drivers were very accommodating
Door wouldn't shut, coffee maker broken, toilet seat broken, toilet paper holder broken, light bulbs burned out, smelled musty throughout the entire facility. Maids didn't clean coffee maker, nor the clean ice bucket. This was my second stay in the past couple of months, and the toilet was broken our last stay, we asked to have it repaired but several hours past and there was no attempt to do so,. Then we demanded a different room.
Milwaukee is one of the great Midwestern cities and despite its proximity to Chicago, Wisconsin's largest city has staked out its own unique identity. Whether it is as a manufacturing town or as a hub of Wisconsin's gastronomic preferences (it's famous for cheese, brats, and beer), there's much to see in what's called the German Athens of America. Staying in the Ambassador Inn is a great way to connect Milwaukee's past to it's present.
The Ambassador Inn is notable thanks to it's 1920's art deco décor. This is one of the ways the hotel is a throwback to a different time. While a bygone era is evoked in décor, modern amenities are not taken for granted. Guests can count on attentive staff and the most comfortable accommodations. No expense is spared when it comes to taking care of the guests at this hotel, and the staff is keen to help guests with any concerns.
Dining is easy at the hotel. The Fitz is a classic Milwaukee restaurant serving Wisconsin cheese flights along with breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Gin Rickey is a classic lounge serving up some of Milwaukee’s best cocktails, and if you are looking to start your day with a quick bite, the Deco Café is the ideal spot.
The Ambassador Inn offers much to all types of travelers and is a great place to experience the best that Milwaukee offers. With its charming décor, you'll feel transported to a different time but the modern amenities keep you rooted in the 21st century while appreciating the creativity of the past.
