Top tips for hiring a car at Midland Intl airport

  • Car rentals provide an easy and convenient means of getting around Midland. You can acquire car rentals at Midland International Airport when you arrive at affordable rates. The airport has a selection of rentals so you can choose the most fitting one. Taxis are metered and can end up increasing your travel expenses. On the other hand, public transportation like buses is unreliable as they don’t access certain regions. There is also only one bus line operating from the airport, and it may be unreliable if you are not going towards the routes it covers.
  • Midland International Airport (MAF) hosts several car hire agencies, including major agencies like Avis, Hertz, Dollar, Enterprise, and National. The agencies have counters within the terminal at the baggage claim area. The parking lot for pick ups and drop offs is north of the terminal, a short walk from the counters. The airport is about 11 miles away from downtown Midland. Driving Midland International Airport car rentals to downtown should take about 20 minutes via I-20BL E.
  • Maneuvering car rentals at Midland is easy since the grid is surrounded by I-20 and Loop 250. Parking is usually easy to find all around. Downtown, you will find a few on-street parking spaces available free of charge for up to two hours. Parking garages like Wilco Garage are also available at a small fee of about $3 for two hours of parking. Always confirm which areas are legal for street parking to avoid being towed and incurring hefty fines.
  • Make returns of car rentals at Midland International Airport at the designated parking lot for your agency. Ensure you make a timely return to avoid incurring a late return fee. This means returning the rental during your provider’s operating hours. You can make an after-hours drop off if the service is available and drop your car keys at the dropbox outside the agency’s counter. Note that the dropbox service is only available during airport opening hours.
  • Book your car hire at Midland Intl airport at least 2 weeks before your trip in order to get a below-average price

Very helpful employee at pick up, who advised me to "just park anywhere" on return. Great advice, because the return lot was crazy, no enterprise)national/Alamo slots left. I parked in Budget without a worry. The check in person complimented me on my resourcefulness. Nice SUV

Agent was more interested in his phone than helping me. Vehicle was not on the lot .... could not be found. Went back into talk to agent, and he just handed me another set of keys. I asked for new paperwork, and he reluctantly gave it to me. Second vehicle was not in area I was told, was blue and not gray (which would have helped in locating it). Asked a few questions like, if I return the car early, will I get a refund on days unused, etc and agent could not/would not answer. Was not impressed. Not. One. Bit.

Could not rent with a debit card from the airport without a flight itinerary. Was not made aware of that on this site and spent roughly $33 on an Uber. Lack of information is truly disappointing and I will use a different service from now on.

After my plane was delayed, Hertz decided to give my reserved car away to other people as there was a large conference in town that week. Ended up costing me $500 for an Uber to get to my destination because no other company had cars either. Lady at the counter was useless and made no effort to help me.
