Cons: Long waiting for lift, because there is one lift serving all hotel visitors, stuff and external bar visitors. Price was twice higher than normal during days of my visit but i'm a frequent visitor of this hotel and used to stay at normal price, was strange to overpay.

Pros: It was an honor to sleep in the halls of the friars and other historical inhabitants of this cathedral-like, 14th century friary. Just fantastic history around you. Prices for meals were too high and Amenities are fair, but beds VERY comfortable, staff very friendly and informative. Wonderful and beautiful...a bucket-list hotel stay!

Pros: It's a perfect location, very unique hotel and the staff super friendly. It's not only one of the best hotels we stayed in but it has a very positive vibe. Good breakfast till 10:30 but even when we wanted to stay bit longer it was not an issue:)) Definitely we'll recommend it to our friends and will stay there next time we are in Maastricht .

Cons: The room is too small and uncomfortably designed for the furniture in it. One can hurt own toes every time passing between bed and table. One also has to take care with a too low roof in certain parts of the room. Resraurant offers good cuisine but very reduced choice.

Cons: The housekeeping was forgotten one day and the staff on the desk said we had told housekeeping not to clean the room. This was untrue and although the housekeeping staff did come and clean eventually it did make us feel a little troubled.

Cons: I don't write many reviews but I do think it's important to highlight that if you have a room is next to the elevators, you're in trouble. You can hear the elevator buzzing very loudly in your room and then a huge thud when the elevator stops. I wore earplugs and this did not stop the noise from being very loud and interruptive. Also, there is NO BATHROOM DOOR, only shutters. What?! This is just not ok unless you're travelling alone. I think for the typical person that a proper bathroom door is a must. I could not have stayed at this property for longer than 1 night. Sadly I would not recommend this location.

In the wellness, it wasn't clear that showers were not automatically shutting off and many people (including myself) were just letting it run until we realised that you needed to press the button again quite firmly. Just from a water saving perspective, it might help to put a note in the showers.

Pros: Nice and comfortable hotel, convenientely located next to some of the faculties of Maastricht University, the Academic Hospital as well as the MECC expo center. Maastrict Randwyck train station nearby from where you can get to the central station in 1 stop. Very quiet location. The rooms are very clean; the bed is super-comfortable (and I am normally very sensitive to the quality of pillows); the size of the room is very proper, the air-conditioning/heating perfectly regulated. Will come again and will recommend this hotel to the others, gladly.

Cons: The heating in the room was not working. The staff was kind to try to help and give us another room, but the other room had the same problem. The heater was cold. I believe this is because it needs a minimum temperature to actually warm it up, however this threshold is too low in my opinion

Cons: I didn't like that we were so far out of town - it meant that we were at the liberty of the room service. This wouldn't have been an issue if we were organized, but we checked in late and had three kids we had to get to bed as quickly as possible. The room service was good though!

Cons: Chose to pay at the hotel via booking.com when I made the reservation, put in credit card information to guarantee the room. Novotel still withdrew the full price from that card before we got there and because it was a Brazilian card, we ended up paying extra on taxes. The communication via booking and at the hotel was poor in order to try to sort this out. There was no communication channel available from booking.com and the hotel really didn’t move a finger to create any compensation.

As this was my first and only night I was seriously worried before she came that I had to stay outside for the whole night. Cons: I was very surprised that there was no kitchen facilities (considering it is a youth hostel associated with HI). The beds were also extremely creaky and I'm not sure that many people slept very well in the room I was staying in (especially the Saturday night). Cons: The room was extremely small (#405) and the bathroom was even worse. The bathroom door did not close properly, so there was little/no privacy when utilizing toilet. There was no hot water in the morning to take a shower. When I complained at check-out that the water was not hot, the front desk informed that they just got the water repaired (at check-out) so no chance for my wife of I to take warm/hot showers.

Pros: this location is unbeatable! It is right next to the old town, next to shops, bars, cafés, everything you need. The bed was very comfortable with heavy comforters. The traffic noise is that of ships going by, gently rocking you, and seagulls in the morning. The staff was incredibly kind, you can tell they are seasoned pros who love travelers. The premises are quite basic, you can hear your neighbours, there is no luxury (the bathroom is not fit for complicated toilette's) and the ship is a little grimy, but in truly a unique and fun way! I loved the experience.
