Hotel Pastis - Maastricht - Building

9.1 Excellent (500 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Maastricht (Villapark), Hotel Pastis is within a 15-minute walk of Natural History Museum and Basilica of Our Lady. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We got a very friendly welcome with coffee and tea. Our room was very quiet, beds very comfortable, and there were complimentary coffee and tea facilities on the landing. The breakfast was great with lots to choose from. We could borrow 2 bicycles, what was very convenient to get around the city. I would highly recommend this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very charming and friendly. The breakfast was great!
Cons: As we are of the older generation we would have liked to be on the ground floor. Our suitcases were very heavy to get them up to room 9.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, location was good, a few minutes walk from downtown but nice area and close to Fort Sint Pieter, which has great views and interesting Fort and Caves tours.
Cons: Steep stairs, no elevator, not a problem for us but could be for some.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located in a quiet residencial area close to the city center. Very nice people running the place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very helpful, room was clean and had everything we need it, close to city center.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the breakfast!! Fantastic, gourmet meal, best quality of everything, great big choice of food. One of the managers is a baker originally, so the croissants and the cakes are all fantastic - all baked fresh! The hotel's name was given by the book inspiration of "Hotel Pastis" by Peter Mayle. That is why I chose this hotel in the first place. And it was absolutely right! As this hotel is run by love and passion. Very generous welcome by the manager. Nice coffee, freshly baked cake. The breakfast room area is soooo cozy, you can sit and read, eat, drink all day long. The walk to the city heart is a lovely one, partly through historical areas and great, generous parks. Amazing cafés and restaurants are nearby! Lovely!
Cons: The mirror in the bathroom should be ca. 25 cm lower - as I am (only) 161 cm tall (like many other Europeans :-)). But there was an other big mirror in the room, which compensated for this :-)

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay and hosts were super flexible and extremely pleasant!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and occupied half the third floor of a big house, opposite to a second guest room. The house is located in a quiet area of Maastricht very close to St Pietersberg, so green as well as quiet. The house is very well maintained. The lady of the house is exquisitely nice and welcoming, She gave us god advices for bike ride and walk in the nature around and as the weather was great, we took the most of it. Cafes and very god restaurants could be easily found 5 min by foot away from the property, so breakfasts and dinners could easily be taken (and enjoyed) locally. The beds were super confy. The wifi worked very well. The bathroom is great. Although the property does not offer breakfast, a kettle and coffee machine are available as well as a fridge and a microwave are available with possibilities to eat inside the room with the blessing of the owners. there are also maintained bikes available, which is nice as the city is just a little far away to walk (even though it is only 20 min by foot). We had a splendid time
Cons: The wooden stairs make a LOT of noise. WOuld be great if this could be fixed. It would also been lovely to have access to the garden as the weather was perfect to lounge around for a few hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were extremely helpful and nice, welcomed us very late, provided a lot of information and details about our stay, the neighbourhood and Maastricht in general.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice small hotel with very friendly staff, nice rooms and awesome location. This is how hotelling should be
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Britannique Hotel is at the hub in the centre of Maastricht so for location it doesn’t get any better. For comfort, cleanliness and facilities it is perfect. But now for the good bit ...the staff and particularly the owners are what you always dream of but in reality seldom get, well, here’s the surprise! Kiona and Tim are the master of customer care. In their relatively short period of ownership they have transformed The Britannique into a stylish modern hotel/restaurant which is attracting the more discerning customer. The rooms have all been completely remodelled in the art nouveau style with contemporary furnishing. Outstanding marble bathroom with generous rain shower cubicle. Regardless of the weather the hotel has a comfortable heated front terrace, perfect for taking refreshments and ‘people watching ‘ A most enjoyable and memorable stay in Maastricht and we most certainly will return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great - in the middle of town with great ways to visit the city center. Very good chceckin en great room. Would recommend to everyone!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing was up to expectation
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners , Tim and Kyona ,made our stay in their lovely hotel a perfect and brilliant break. . The ideal position for the Xmas market in the square outside. Great food and service. Nothing was to much trouble. We look forward to staying with them next year.
Cons: Leaving the hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in the middle of town, right on Vrijthof square. Our room was clean and spacious and very comfortable. The design was very special and quite to our taste. Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the first floor which only opens for business on 9 AM. My husband had to go out for his meeting early than that, so he had to skip breakfast altogether. (I should state that the manager offered to ask one of the staff to come to work early and prepare breakfast for him, but we declined). The breakfast that I had was part of the restaurant menu, but it was unclear what of the menu is included and what is excluded. The staff, both manager and the restaurant staff (that double as hotel staff) were very nice and helpful, and tried hard to make our stay nice.Parking is available at a reduced price at a near by parking garage - very convenient.
Cons: The toilet was separated from the main room only by a transparent sliding door. Not a very convenient arrangement, even for a married couple. A curtain or some other mean of hiding the toilet from the room would be appreciated by most guests, I presume. There is no elevator in the hotel, bare this in mind if you have difficulties climbing a fair number of stairs.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for sightseeing, shopping, going out. Very recently renovated rooms with modern facilities in classy setting. The hotel organized bikes for us at an excellent price, including tips for tours and things to see. Breakfast for 20 per cent discount for hotel guests is excellent compared to other offers around.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed Very nice designed room (we had a suite looking over ‘Vrijthof’) Great food
The Student Hotel Maastricht - Maastricht - Building

6.0 Good
Pros: Good locaton, clean hotel.
Cons: Long waiting for lift, because there is one lift serving all hotel visitors, stuff and external bar visitors. Price was twice higher than normal during days of my visit but i'm a frequent visitor of this hotel and used to stay at normal price, was strange to overpay.
5.8 Okay

Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Planning an event in Maastricht? This hotel has facilities measuring 269 square feet (25 square meters), including conference space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decor is fabulous
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel is actually built inside an old church. It gives it a very nice atmosphere. The personnel at the reception and resraurant is just excellent.
Cons: The room is too small and uncomfortably designed for the furniture in it. One can hurt own toes every time passing between bed and table. One also has to take care with a too low roof in certain parts of the room. Resraurant offers good cuisine but very reduced choice.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The nice young woman who carried 3 heavy bags up 2 ridiculously long sets of stairs.
Cons: Being dumped in an overflow room on the top floor with no lift in an adjacent building. Design Hotel? You must be joking. Being castigated by reception staff for missing an email saying the restaurant was booked out. Shall we continue? Seems if you book on this website you are treated as last minute fodder to ensure all rooms are booked. Such fools were we.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a perfect location, very unique hotel and the staff super friendly. It's not only one of the best hotels we stayed in but it has a very positive vibe. Good breakfast till 10:30 but even when we wanted to stay bit longer it was not an issue:)) Definitely we'll recommend it to our friends and will stay there next time we are in Maastricht .
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere!
Cons: A little bit narrow!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We opted out of the breakfast. We liked the room and the total environment of the hotel. We walked many places and found that the hotel's location was close to a good number of interesting sites.
Cons: The housekeeping was forgotten one day and the staff on the desk said we had told housekeeping not to clean the room. This was untrue and although the housekeeping staff did come and clean eventually it did make us feel a little troubled.
Chambres D'Hotes Rekko - Maastricht - Building
7
8.9 Excellent (377 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, nice location and good breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location Nice breakfast
Cons: Quite expensive And anyone with any kind of disability has no chance with the narrow, wooden, spiral staircase.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The beds were absolutely uncomfortable and I did not sleep
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, easily accessible and quiet. Would happily go back and refer any friends to stay.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very pleasant hotel situated quite central. Easy to walk into Maastrict and the lovely streets and squares. Lovely clean room that was quite different than the usual hotel "box". Pleasant staff. Good breakfast.
Cons: No dedicated hotel parking, so you have to pay for on street parking which can be fun to find. No hotel lift, so as the hotel has several (tall) floors, be prepared to haul your luggage up several flights of stairs. Strangely, as we were checking out, the proprietor advised us she could not take card payments. We had not prepared for this so had to seek out an ATM. This involved walking round the streets of Maastrict using Google Maps to finally locate a working and accessible ATM. This added about an hour to our check out. It would have made sense if the proprietor had advised us in advance as we saw her every day.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect! And the staff is very nice!
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, friendly staff, nice breakfast. Great view. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Nowhere to put towels in the bathroom. Safe not properly mounted to the wall/cupboard. Paint starting to fall off the wall in the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic little hotel right on the central square and seconds from excellent restaurants and bars. The building comprises an historical part and a cleverly included modern expansion behind that. Rooms are modern, large, spotlessly clean and have excellent bedding and a great bathroom. Staff are great and really welcoming. Breakfast is served in the front of the hotel and can be taken inside or outside on a terrace. This is a very comfortable hotel to stay in - definitely stay here.
Cons: There is nothing I didn't like . Just for reference, access to the reception is quirky, needing to pass through the front terrace bar area but that is not a problem - just a little extra character

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place in the city center
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The proprietor was very welcoming and hospitable. Our train was running late and she called to make sure we were only our way. The room was comfortable. The bed was a little hard (and I usually like firm). The breakfast was very nice and she was willing to make us non-dairy cappucinos which were delicious. The dining area is very quaint - I imagine that it would be a very nice place to hang out on a sunny day since the courtyard is open-air in nice weather. It is super central, about 5 minute walk to Vrithof. Wish we could have stayed longer!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very central location, a few minutes walk from the university. Very friendly staff. Parking possibility at reasonable price, at a few minutes walk from the hotel. Comfortable bedding. Lots of room, nice living room, big kitchen.
Cons: The apartment is located in an old house, but very nice. The price is relatively high.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really cute hotel in the center of Maastricht. The owner is very nice, always present, she helped us a lot during our stay. Very recommendable!
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff were terrific and restaurant was excellent.
Cons: We were in a room facing the front of the hotel. We stayed on a Friday evening and even with the window closed, there was a terrible racket in the streets from late night revelers that kept us up until at least 3 AM. We had to leave very early and neither of us slept. Not sure this is fixable and of course, very unfortunately, for an otherwise very good hotel. Really a shame....
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff welcome and reception was very warm and helpful. Also the location is excellent. Special thanks to Joyce, Sandra and Stephanie.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and clean. Super friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location and the parking. The breakfast too
Cons: The WiFi could have been stronger

7.5 Good
Pros: The location
Cons: The room was in a separate building a block away from the actual hotel and that was not stated in my reservation
7.9 Good
Pros: Central location, easy parking only 50 away
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The studio was very nice, the location was perfect. Quiet, but very central.
Cons: The pool needs a renovation. In the bathroom was no place to put the wet towels.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow room is huge, lot of light, it has a nice minimal design, all white, amazing open bath & a great bed ! Situation is ideal, quiet and close to the center in a nice area.

Pros: The space has ultimately minimalistic and therefore outstanding design. The location is central, near the coziest cafés street in Maastricht. Perfect place.

Cons: Shower is near bed and need to stay in bathtub when showering.
6.3 Good
Pros: The garden, parking, nearby river and clean comfy bed.
Cons: Silly arty stuff at the expense of function. No proper shower just a bath. Conduction cooktop without any cooking stuff. Poor lighting. Unusable safe.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff, location, what a stunningly beautiful place, will stay again.
Cons: Only niggle was the bed was way to soft for our taste, minor niggle.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: location, standing,
Cons: reception and way to be welcomed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was our wedding anniversary trip and we travel with dogs, so it was important to stay in a place where there is a big territory as well. Beautiful nature and surroundings, nice restaurant and marina at the vicinity. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. The actual place and building is absolutely amazing, rooms are spacious and modern, clean and comfy. We definitely recommend this place for couples as well as solo travellers and families. We are impressed and would definitely come back again. Thank you for making our short stay unforgettable! : )
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was ok. Very dog friendly place with clean rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great place with lovely garden. Dog friendly place.
6.7 Good
Pros: The property is a fantastic environment. Very beautiful gardens along the river Maas / Meuse, old but refurbished castle and coach house. Staff very friendly. And a very good and beautiful restaurant on the same property, although not the same business group.
Cons: Avoid at all cost the two suites Adam Love Suite and Eve Love Suite, next to the reception. These rooms have a bath tub in the same open space as the bed, but no shower facility at all, not even using the same bath tub. As such, you forgo a shower or you splash the whole room wet. The next morning after complaining about the same, initially no alternative rooms were available for the second night. After stating that we would leave then and not pay for the reserved second night, we were given two much better alternative rooms with a proper bathroom with shower. This business is completely understaffed. You start to feel sorry for the few staff, if around at all, for the amount of multitasking they are required to do (combination of reception, bar and breakfast service done by one person…). If not at the reception, you are asked to call the central number. Once in the morning this took me 3 calls and 15 minutes in total, to no avail. Another time, past 23:00 calling the same number connected me to the “Black Label Hotel Valkenburg”, the person only spoke English, and was not at all aware that calls from Kasteel De Doorenwerth were forwarded to the other hotel, let alone could help us to get in the tower rooms general staircase access, with the access door closed. Only with help of the off-duty restaurant staff did we discover a ‘hidden’ door on the other side ‘camouflaged’ in the castle wall.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A working AC felt wonderful on a hot day! The room was very clean and a nice surprise was the fridge and coffee maker. The environment was lovely but I was disappointed with the location of the room because I thought the rooms were downstairs.
Cons: The room on the second floor of the tower is not suitable for older people or dogs due to too steep and dangerous stairs. (Spiral stairs). The stairwell was also awfully hot, just as if it were in a sauna. Nor do I like the fact that the shower has a direct view into the room (glass wall). The headboard of the bed was loose and there was no reading light and neither was there bedside tables.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Design, staff, free wine hour
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Quirky hotel, but with excellent facilities. Fancy a night at the movies in your own personal cinema, then Mabi can deliver. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: I understand the cinema concept, but the matte black paint is too much in the bedrooms. They need brightening and with reflected light, not direct spotlights. The bedside "ledge" is far too small to be useful. Lastly, long thick curtains that cover the radiator merely insulates the heat and makes the rooms colder - definitely not ecologically sound!
6.7 Good
Pros: Very nice and professional staff; free bottles of water and hot drinks, cozy and well decorated Lounge; and cinema experience theme.
Cons: The bathroom floor nor clean , room size and shower space too small, scratches on the lift doors which makes rhe property to look old and dirty.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and very modern

8.0 Excellent
Pros: big rooms are quite comfortable
Cons: The gym needs improvement. Small rooms are really small, consider upgrading.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The location was a stones throw to the centre. The staff were also welcoming.
Cons: I don't write many reviews but I do think it's important to highlight that if you have a room is next to the elevators, you're in trouble. You can hear the elevator buzzing very loudly in your room and then a huge thud when the elevator stops. I wore earplugs and this did not stop the noise from being very loud and interruptive. Also, there is NO BATHROOM DOOR, only shutters. What?! This is just not ok unless you're travelling alone. I think for the typical person that a proper bathroom door is a must. I could not have stayed at this property for longer than 1 night. Sadly I would not recommend this location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is conveniently placed - just a 2 min walk from the station and in the heart of Wyck - a delightful area of Maastricht. Breakfast is excellent and so are the staff. Thoughtful touches, such as complementary soup and snacks and even a bed-time night cap.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, very near the station. The staff are particularly friendly.
Cons: There was an irritating whirr in my room (415). Complained at checkout and they would look after it. Stayed here earlier in another room without complaints.

7.0 Good
Pros: Location really good. Staff very friendly. Liked the option not to have the room cleaned
Cons: The shower was really cold since there is no door. The windows are poor so you could hear everything on the road outside and we couldn't get the room warm!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly Staff. Everything we needed was available, umbrellas, yoga mats. Room was very comfortable and clean. Shower and toiletries were aweseome. Loved the location, great value.
Cons: maybe a clock in room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel is amazing. The location is very central. Just a 2 min walk from Central Railway Station. Hardly a 5-8 min walk to Central Square and shopping area. Wifi is great. The breakfast is quite elaborated with choices. Room is comfortable and bed is very cosy. Staff is very cooperative and helping. Overall a great value for money.
Cons: Drinking water was not made available in room. I suggest a bottle of water may be added.

Cons: The interior is a bit dated
7.9 Good
Pros: Location is great. Service is outstanding. One of my favourite hotels in Maastricht.
Cons: Rooms are a tiny bit behind in maintenance for being 100% perfect; some cracks and things off. Bed is soft and comfortable but a bit layed through.
7.0 Good
Pros: Perfect location, very close to old city center
Cons: The rooms are outdated. Especially the bathrooms need renovation, as these are not 4* worthy anymore.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Great location
Cons: Broken shower, no hot water all weekend. Informed staff, nothing was done about it. I won’t stay there again
7.0 Good
