You can find the rental center at Lubbock Airport directly inside of the arrivals hall near the baggage claim. The center has desks for several major national and local companies for you to choose from. All companies keep their fleets located just a short walking distance from their desks. Once you have finished signing any necessary paperwork, an employee will provide you with your car key and lead you to where your vehicle is kept.
If you would like to rent a car from Lubbock Airport, you will be required to provide a driver’s license that is valid and that has been issued by the government. Even if you do not have a driver’s license from the United States, you will normally be able to rent a car by using either an international license or a foreign license. You will want to have your passport with you when you pick up your rental, as the company may want to keep a copy of it in your file.
The rental car center is equipped with basic amenities that customers are welcome to benefit from, including public restrooms. There are also outlets in case you need to charge any of your electronic devices, as well as a sitting area that is a nice place to catch your breath while waiting for your vehicle to be ready for pick-up.
Car rental companies that offer shuttle or pick-up services from Lubbock airport to off-airport locations include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz, and National.
Cons:It was not listed that we had to have a roundtrip plane ticket to pick up the car at the airport. Thus, we never were able to pick up the car.
Cons:There were no cars available even though I was able to book one online. There is a big disparity between booking and actual available inventory at times via Kayak that needs attention. Please fix this. I had a similar issue last summer in Missoula, MT.
Pros:Everything at Avis is excellent. Great service, affordable prices, and clean cars.
Pros:The staff in Lubbock was friendly. The staff in Dallas rushed me however they took care of business.
Pros:The Avis staff was assume. We received updates from Premium to minivans. That was a big plus!!
Cons:My flight was very late (over 3 hours). When I landed at 1:00 am and got to the counter, all the other rental car places had a tired looking person staffing the desk. Not Avis, they apparently dip out at 11:00 on the dot. When I called their customer service line, I dealt with a very rude person who told me it was my fault because I missed the time when I was supposed to pick up my rental. Thank god for another rental company who was able to get me a car.
Pros:It was a typical car rental experience I just was surprised that they didn’t take debit card.
Cons:It was a good little car for a few days
Pros:The staff was very knowledgeable in what they mnew.
8.0 Very Good
Pros:Staff at Lubbock we're very helpful and accommodating. Vehicle was good.
Cons:Everything. Start accepting debit cards not just only credit cards
Pros:Agent did not try to talk us into buying additional coverages and options for the car.
Cons:Car had stains on interior and lots of marks on exterior. Gas tank was not completely full.
Cons:Confusion over coverage, which was accidentally charged to me, even though I rent cars often.
Cons:Drop off confusing. No one to ck you in or tell you what to do.
Pros:Nice new car
Cons:No one was there when our flight landed. Someone from Enterprise actually got us a car from the National stock. It would be helpful if someone were actually on the lot to assist customers with pick up and return.
Cons:Return vehicle in parking lot with no directions to customer. Ride back to terminal to turn key in. Nobody at counter.
Cons:There were no clear instructions as to where or how to drop off the vehicle. There was signage directing all car rentals to a lot with spaces numbered and organized by company. No other instructions or personnel were available to indicate where to go or what to do next. A simple sign saying to walk back up the hill to the airport terminal would have sufficed. There were five other people wandering around asking each other if anyone knew where to go. I had to call the Alamo phone line three times before someone could help me with instructions. Overall, the Lubbock location needs vast improvements to customer care.
Pros:The return location is a little confusing - you have to drop the car at the rental return lot then go up to the airport to turn in the keys - but I figured it out easily. A man met me in the lot to drive me up to the airport, which was very nice. & When I got inside I just dropped the keys to the employee at the counter & went on my way. Super easy, & they were very friendly! Would definitely recommend & use again!!!
Pros:Turning in the car was just as quick and easy. Great customer service!
Cons:They refused to rent me the car even though we prepaid . I had a drivers license, debit card and a picture of my passport.
Pros:The gentleman in Lubbock was very welcoming. He was polite and courteous. Overall a pleasure to work with.
Cons:Everything went smoothly.
Pros:There was no line at the window.
Cons:Hertz did not have the vehicle that I reserved, nor did they have the gps unit I requested. He did not tell me that the one he was trying to give me didn't have one until we were almost done and I asked.
Pros:Well performing car, pickup and drop off were easy. Good on gas
Pros:Very helpful personnel. Location was very convenient. Fast, easy processing time.
Pros:The car made it across the state with me in one piece. The drop off was quick and painless and not a half mile walk up or down a hill.
Cons:I USUALLY get the car in the ad or in this case KAYAK, which would have been a Nissan Versa, which I am familiar with. I think, because this was a one way rental, they gave me their POS car that they wanted to get rid of. The seat was so high my line of vision was just below the top of the windshield and I hit my head several times getting in and out of the car. It was not comfortable, it was loud on the highway and there was no cruise control (which I anticipated, but hoped there would be). When I asked for the Versa, before finding all this other out, I was told I would have to upgrade, there were no Versas available. I wish I had. Due to time restraints I couldn't go back after getting in the car and change it.
8.0 Very Good
Pros:Staff was friendly
Cons:I was convinced to pay for insurance that Budget doesn't even honor. RIP off
Pros:I was worried about having to stand in a line to get the car which would make my 'day trip' impossible. The car was waiting for me and the girl at the counter couldn't have been nicer. Will definitely use Budget again!
8.0 Very Good
Pros:Budget staff was very nice and helpful. Car was clean, drove well and had no mechanical issues.
Cons:The plastic headlight lenses had numerous cracks and were cloudy/glazed over so as to affect the brightness of the headlights. They were old and needed to be replaced.
8.8 Very Good
Pros:Budget did a good job of getting me a car quickly and efficiently
Cons:I intensely disliked the Mitsubishi Mirage I was given. It is not a car, it is an under-powered roller skate with pretensions of grandeur. The gas deals were hard to understand and too expensive. Explaining them caused both the counter person and myself frustration.
