Small rooms that require refurbishment
The only plus point for this hotel is it’s proximity to the main rail line at Paddington and the underground. The area does have a good variety of restaurants nearby that can satisfy most budgets. The breakfast is okay with sufficient options for the price paid,
The decor is old as are all of the appliances in the room, the vent fan in the WC and the refrigerator made more noise than the Paddington trains. The breakfast room is very small and guests are left in a state of limbo as to what they should do when all tables are occupied. I was staying in the main building but overheard two guests being redirected to an annex, the instructions on how to get to the rooms were lengthy and confusing for a visitor to London, I felt that they should have been escorted to their rooms or to the annex building at the very least.

you get what you pay for
The price for a private room in London is good. Location is decently close to attractive areas Soho, Westminster, etc... but not by walking distances.
Rooms are ridiculous small, hellish stairways access to rooms, decoration and furniture is depressing, bed was uncomfortable (at least for me), paper walls you can hear everything from others rooms, the neighborhood paddington is dead no mayor tourists attractions by walking distance or parties or pubs or whatever everything is closed at 11:30pm or so... you will always have to take the bus and getting back is tricky since busses or tubes aren't stopping in Paddington at the time of writing this.

Great Location
Location was great-very short walk to Paddington Station and on a great street overlooking the green. Staff was nice and helpful and accommodated us when we asked for a room change. 2nd room had a great little balcony overlooking the green.
First room we were given was 4 floors up with no elevator- With or without suitcases it was way too much to do everyday. The room was way too small for 2 adults and had a bad smell. We asked for a change the next morning and the staff moved our bags to a new room when we got back for the day-much better size for 2 but the bathroom was teeny tiny.

Dolphin visit in July 2015
It was really close to Paddington Station, just around the block. It is on a beautiful little green in a nice part of town. SInce I had to get back to Heathrow on the Express Train early, it was really nice to be so close, especially since there was a transit strike. Room had a flat screen TV. The breakfast was okay.
There was a tiny twin bed in the room, which was summer camp sized. Whatever the bed was on, it was squeaky. The shower/ bathroom was itsy bitsy and smelled of mildew or fungus. The room was about dormitory sized so really small. It was up 2 long steep flights of stairs, although the proprietor did off to help bring luggage up, if I needed it. Up and down the street there were other small hotels which offered rooms at less than half the price I paid. Really, this was a pension and the $107 charged for it was excessive.

GoodOct 20147.3
The location is excellent, close to subway, parks, train station. The staff was good, the room was good enough for this kind of London hotel, the bathroom was so small that it was not easy to take a shower, but, again, it was expected in this kind of hotel. No elevator, bringing the luggage up the stairs was difficult. Breakfast was sufficiant: coffee, tea, juice, milk, cereal, toast. cheese, hard boiled eggs, biscuits, jam, butter. I would stay in this hotel again. A word of caution: I had booked with Dolphin Hotel 2 stays a week apart, but the first time they put me in a next door hotel Shakespear , it was not enjoyable, it smelled like cigarettes, we were on the 5th floor and the stairs were VERY difficult to manage, they were very steep and without handrails. The room was fine. The staff was good. I would not stay there again.
The fact that I booked with Dolphin Hotel , but upon arrival was placed in a different hotel without notifying me in a advance or asking my permission, and that was not a good way of doing business in my opinion.
