I was charged for a scratch that im sure was not there when i left the car. The proof of the damage was a pdf on which i cannot see when the photo was taken. I suspect a scam

When I rented the vehicle I was told roadside assistance protection was included at no charge and I was billed 35 euros. The vehicle was filled up and topped off prior to my return and the fuel gauge was on full when it was returned. I was then asked where I refueled, which was approximately 24 klm away and was billed a service and refueling charge.

I was refused pickup of my car because my government -issued ID was not acceptable to the person working at the counter. It was outrageous. This after you emailed me saying that a US DL is what I should bring. I couldn’t transfer the reservation to another member of my group either. I just had to forfeit the entire cost. A scam.

It was the week that SIXT computer systems went down, and I wish they would have EXPLAINED why we had to wait over an hour to get to the desk, even though only 4 people ahead of me in line. Getting the paperwork was horrible, and agonizing. Then the CAR had a TPMS "low tire pressure" warning light. When I brought this to their attention, instead of checking tires or pressures, they erased the light and said it was all good and "that sitting 2-3 days, the light came on..." B.S. So I asked for another car, which they finally brought, it had a HEADLIGHT burnt out, but I didn't figure that out until trying to drive at night. Not impressed with SIXT in Lisbon at this point....

Personnel very helpful both on pickup and drop off. Helped program my phone to apple play in English. Very helpful regarding refueling at the end of the trip. Car was clean and in great shape. In particular, Diogo and Paulo, were very helpful and very professional.

All the staff were INCREDIBLY kind, professional, and helpful. They went out of their way to make things easy and without fuss. This goes for the pick-up point in Lisbon as well as the drop-off in Faro. The only issue I might point out was the final cost being a bit more than the projected quote, however this has been an issue at just about any car rental I've ever encountered. Of course this mild issue cannot be put on the staff, and I'd like to reiterate just how great they all were to myself and to my group.

Specifically chose Hertz based on car availability and booked BMW X2 model. After very long wait time at the counter, I was offered only two choices: Toyota Corolla Hybrid and another electric car. When I pointed out that I booked a "luxury" class, the clerk tried convincing me that the cars were the same. Since I prepaid my rental in full, I was told that it's impossible fr the agency to amend the charges to the lower rate that matches the car class of Corolla. Disappointed with bait and switch tactics and totally unexpected from Hertz.

It took over 4 hours to pick up the rental car, as there were more than 50 people ahead of us!!! Car seat rental was very expensive. Once we got the car it was good.

Carjet, the broker cancelled our reservation. Therefore I had to book direct from Sixt at the desk and that was more expensive. That was a little bit disappointing....

I didn't get my car, I had to arrange another car on my own. The reason was that I didn't have two credit cards on my name. It was not mentioned in my booking that I would need two credit cards. Then the car I did book on my own with Budget didn't have any place of the car that was not damaged and it was very dirty and I had to fill Adblue after 200 km.

I rented a automatic and got a stick shift. The line was long and I waited for more than one hour to get a car. Then the car died in the middle of the trip. A nightmare! Avis has to rent a taxi to take me to the final destination.

They didn't let me use my online booking from Kayak. They said it needed at least 1h to access their booking in their system (they didn't even try). The employee at the counter asked me several times to cancel my booking with Kayak. As they gave me no choice, I ended up renting another car with them at a more expensive rate. It was truly a bad experience.

We were quoted a price, we triple checked that this was the pre-paid final price. We turned in the car a day early and were charged DOUBLE the quoted price - over 400 Euros more!

Price is very very high with insurance, almost 90€ a day. That is a rip off I would say. I agreed to that as my time is valued more but id zi as more time I would pick up car from airport for half that price

Pros: I waited 2 hours at the counter waiting for my turn to process my previously made reservation and pick up my car until I finally could not wait any longer (hungry, thirsty, and tired after a long flight) and had to call a relative to pick me up at the airport.
Cons: More staff, better customer service, at least a waiting lounge with snacks and water. Or get out of the business and do something else.

Pros: Staff was great. Difficult to find drop off, as the GPS sent me to a different place. After going around in a circle twice, finally just drove to the terminal and looked for a "rental car" sign. Suggest that all rented GPS have the proper drop off point in the future.
Cons: The van advertised said it was big enough for 7 people and their luggage. The van at pickup was fine to seat 7 people, but had almost zero room for luggage. Had to go up a class, and it was nearly twice the price. Wish I had know this upfront.

Worst car rental experience ever
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Individual who processed my car return was curt and rude. No one was around when we arrived so I chose a lane for the car and parked. As we were about to unload an attendant ran up and said we had to move over. The area was incredibly cramped and small as is, and I had barely enough clearance to move the car into the lane he wanted me to be in. So I started moving the car carefully, and even though I had enough clearance on either side, he started yelling at me about how to move the car and seemed frustrated that I wasn’t moving more quickly. Since he clearly had strong opinions on my driving skills, I asked if he could move the car instead. He said "No" at first and continued yelling at me for how to maneuver the car. He only obliged after I stopped moving the car, and even so, he continued barking orders at me like unlocking the car more quickly and even criticized HOW I unlocked the car (I used the door handle and he scoffed saying I should push the "unlock" button instead) Mind you there wasn't a mad rush or anything...no one else was there...things weren't crazy and he was just overwhelmed with work. Absolutely NO excuse for his behavior

Pros: He staff members were competent and professional.
Cons: The original car supplied was smaller than expected for the category. I had to upgrade to fit people/luggage and the upgrade cost was almost as much as the original rental. However, the upgrade was minimally larger and definitely not worth double the cost. That situation was/is infuriating.

Pick up and drop off surprise
Pros: The car was tidy
Cons: You wouldn’t expect not to find the company name in Rent a car area in airport if you book pick up/drop off location exactly airport. It comes that you are forced to spend extra half an hour to find the right guy and to get to the rental office (same exercise on the way back). The guys in the office live their lifes instead of serving you..

I never picked up my car at all. The website indicated a shuttle to the airport rental location from Oriente Station. In fact, there was no such shuttle. After three Uber drivers cancelled on me, I just gave up.

I had the worst car rental experience here. Had a 2 day reservation for a total of 60eur booked with AmEx card through Kayak. Of course, I was counting on AmEx for insurance. At the counter the guy told me that they do not accept AmEx, the initial reservation includes no insurance at all and that just adding CDW will double the price. Alternatively, offered to leave a 25k deposit on the car. Had to go to a different company.

Line could have been a little faster if more people working. But that said, super friendly, efficient, easy to get car, was on-sight so just short walk. Easy return as well.
