Cons: Way too long a wait to get service at the pick up counter. About 30 min! They had the gas at full when it was only 3/4.

Pick up is not in terminal but by shuttle bus on o
Pros: Once we got to the car rental place outside the airport the pick up procedure was fast
Cons: Pick up is not in terminal building as suggested at booking instead we had to go to the Budegt counter in Terminal, where sent to a shuttle bus station from there, had to wait for the bus and arrived at the real budget station after a 10 minute busride. The car was relatively old with +80k KM.

Pros: Conformation email says Dublin Airport arrivals hall but does not say which terminal. Additionally once checking in at the Budget desk in the airport you have to get a bus to the off-site location and check in again. Misleading.

Very satisfied with the service I received
Pros: Courteous, professional service. Also, my trip was delayed due to a storm on one day and an airline issue on the second day so I needed to keep the car two additional days. They did not charge me for the day of the storm, and gave me a very reasonable rate for the second day. I appreciate their generosity. Also shuttle bus was operating every 5-10 minutes.
Cons: I have no complaints!

Price problem, and mystic accident !!!
Pros: The car is ok, not bad. Not trouble during the rent. The car has been clean.
Cons: The difference between my booking price and the real price I have already paid. I need to look for a explication about. Tax ? Insurance? ?? I don't know, I have already asked directly Europcar about, I hope I will have answer early. Beside, when I returned the car, the Europcar employee asked about accident on front driver door, little scratch less than 3 cm. I tried to explain I didn't check the car with worker when I took the car, and the scratch is on the car before, but he said me the opposite. But, when I took the car 12/04/2017, I tried to put this scratch in the contract, and the office employee explained me all accident, impact and scratch have put in the report during the car drop off with the costumer before. So, when I picked up the car, total price with insurance is very expensive than the booking price ( because they add taxes, insurances....) and, when I returned the car, Europcar worker put in the report "mystic accident". Consequently, I send you my dissatisfaction about this rental car.

Pros: The car
Cons: They did not have the car size for the amount we reserved. So we were up Sold to a $600 car. Also kayak advertised the car we reserved as $100’dollars for the week and that was not what we were told at time of arrival they said it was $400 and we had to ultimately pay $600 up front. This is the last time I will book a car thru kayak.

Insurance madness
Cons: My credit card covered rental insurance fully and Europcar asked for an email from my bank/credit card company before giving me the car. I had to call my credit card provider and have them send an email to Europcar. Pretty damn ridiculous. All told, I wasted three hours getting all this sorted, and even after I finally got them what they needed, they put a EURO 5,000 authorization charge on my account, an obscene amount for a one-week rental. Also: There's a 25 EURO airport surcharge that I was never made aware of, and a 35 EURO charge to travel into Northern Ireland, which I also wasn't made aware of until the time of payment. I recommend you book elsewhere, because a Google search tells me that not all car rental companies charge for traveling into Northern Ireland.

Rip off alert
Cons: This company is an insurance ripoff. Insisted on full coverage, left me and my family in a lurch as we were stuck at a remote location offsite from the airport. Would not accept my credit card insurance policies, I had 3 different cards, all with renters coverage. Tried to use my personal renter policy which covers rentals in Ireland and they refused. Hard sell on everything. Instead of the $80 for the week, ended up having to dish out $540. Avoid at all costs. Don't fall for their bait and switch. Kayak should be ashamed of doing business with this company.

Pros: The overall value was good. Helped by getting insurance from a third party - Alianze. The AVIS representative that I EVENTUALLY got to on pick up and drop off was very efficient.
Cons: The wait to see a representative on both pick up and drop off was extremely long The same representative on both ends of the trip took forever, continually trying to upsell insurance, instilling fear in the rentors. He held up everyone, but fortunately I didn't have to deal with him. The car was in terrible shape. The air conditioning didn't work. The fan only worked on high speed. The car itself was uncomfortable.

Cons: The total bill was twice what we were quoted. When we dropped the car off in Dublin it was in an empty parking lot and left a key at a desk. Then two days later received a bill for a price we were not quoted for. Over all the car cost over $100 a day for a size basic car. I called customer service to let them know we were charged an amount we didn't agree to and they told me to dispute it to my credit card company.

Pros: Quick pick up Quick and easy drop off with helpful staff
Cons: We weren't given information on the motorway toll when we picked up the car, as we'd previously rented from another company where it was included we presumed it was the same with Avis. It was only when we returned the car we saw the information, why haven't they got the same information in the office where we picked up the car? The car was also not the one we expected, the Nissan Juke would have been preferable to the Opal Astra we were given

Staff Very Customer Service Oriented
Pros: The staff was responsive to my needs and very helpful. Make sure you consider insurance and GPS needs prior to arriving. You should get both if you don't have adequate coverage from your personal insurance company...or have a GPS option. Also, do not get a manual shift. It's challenging enough to drive with an automatic. It is preferred to get a diesel vehicle as 70% of the cars in Ireland are diesel. The roads are narrow...get a "small" car!! Over all it was a positive experience and I will use Enterprise again when in Dublin.
Cons: Transfer from the airport to the car lot is confusing. Make sure to clarify how to get transported to the car lot.

Pros: Staff was friendly and accommodating to our needs for our trip. Car was decent for what we needed for our two week stay.
Cons: Did not like the fact that the car rental was listed as $99.00 but had fail to mention that there were added expenses that led to a $900+ increase. The fact that you are required to have insurance on the car was not related to us. It is not like in the States where you can decline the insurance if your personal insurance premiums covers rentals. And if you do decline the insurance, it's an automatic $5000 hold on your credit card. So when I thought I was receiving a "deal" with the price of the rental, it in fact was not. Make sure you do your research before selecting a rental in Ireland. I did not and we paid for it....literally.

Seriously need to fix their pickup system
Pros: Employees were friendly enough and the car was in good condition. Return was smooth. The rental was serviced by Thrifty in a shared facility with Hertz a short bus ride from the terminals. (Although hertz had separate employees, they had the same problems with pickup as far as I could tell)
Cons: It took well over an hour to pickup the car, really ridiculous, and we were the second in line when we arrived. It was much worse for others. Also I got a nail in the tire and they were no help at all, I had to pay for the repair myself because I didn't have the extra "tire cover." (Luckily tire repairs are cheap in Ireland). The insurance is also a scam in Ireland (this is common to all agencies I could tell), as most credit cards don't cover Ireland, but Chase cards seem to (call to ask). Thrifty accepted this for a 30 euro administrative fee (which is disclosed in the terms). They were also remarkably nitpicky about the condition of the car, taking photos at checkout and documenting even the slightest scratches or dents.

Car was good
Pros: They brought the car to the airport for us so we didn't have to go to the yard.
Cons: We paid for a small baby car seat and they had a enfant car seat. We asked for help putting it in and they would not help. One guy said they didn't have insurance to help. The seat was too big and another guy who tried to help suggested we go across to another terminal and rent a baby seat. So I have to walk across the airport after 16 hrs of travel to try and rent another car seat after I had already paid for one.. Very bad service on that end . If they don't have the seats they should not have it available to rent .. How do I get my money back I paid for the seat???

Never order from Payless...
Pros: Nothing, except booking online, but it was irrelevant as the charges online are nothing compared to when you get to the counter itself to pick up the car.
Cons: Rented a large car for over $80. was prepared for car to be around $250.00 with additional charges. However, when we got to the counter they wanted nearly 600 euro...we asked for a smaller car, but were told it would cost the same. It was total BS, so we ended up cancelling and not taking a car at all, and just spent about $100 on taxis for the 9 days. I've learned my lesson, only booking major brands in the future (avis, hertz, sixt, etc). Mid size cars (Skoda Fabia not Astra)
Pros: I rent an Astra with ar conditioning. Thrifity gave me a Skoda Fabia without AC. At the desk rental the attendant has confirmed that the car size for this rental is Fabia and there was no AC. The car got a flat tyre during the trip.
Cons: Car type is not Astra as advertised, is a Skoda Fabia, very short on accessories.

Ridiculously high Insurance
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Bait and switch pricing. $200 extra for an automatic? Horrible experience!

Pros: The drop off was very efficient
Cons: It took quite a few minutes at pick up; not sure if they weren't expecting as many customers at that time or just didn't have enough staff. Took about 30 mins to get our car.

Cons: Don't book via Advantage if you're renting a car in Europe. The prices do not include insurance, and the car rental car company won't let you rent a car without their minimum insurance. My price went from 140€ to 350€. Very bad experience.

Cons: Horrible horrible horrible experience. Airport car rental customer service( Edvina )didn’t gave me the car cause I refused to buy full coverage insurance. She was so rude can’t explain. I have been renting cars all of the worlds and never faced this kind of horrible behavior from any rental company

Cons: more warnings about the car insurance laws of Ireland - I had to call my credit card company (amex) and get them to send an email directly to the person working at the desk explaining the coverage i had through them - and then still had to get 10 euro/day insurance option and put up a 5,000 deposit

Cons: I have multiple lines of insurance that cover driving in Ireland. However, they made me buy theirs before leaving the lot because I didn’t have a physical piece of paper from Amex or my insurance carrier. Biggest scam ever

Pros: Good care at an exceptional price.
Cons: Car had no windscreen washer fluid. Pick up process and check in were very time consuming but drop off went very quickly. I programmed GPS to home for car drop off but it left me about 2 km away. Caused a bit of stress but when I finally returned the car, I was taken immediately to the air terminal

Would not recommend
Pros: Nothing
Cons: After traveling from California to visit my family in Ireland ( three flights & 20 hours travel time)- nobody could tell me where the Easirent shuttle picked up from. Finally, I learned There us a legal issue between Easirent & The airport as they have failed to pay service charge for picking up & dropping travelers ioff. When I finally reached them, they hung up on me. When I called back they said they didn't have a vehicle for me despite the fact that I reserved it over five months prior. The representative recommended I contact some of the other rental companies at the airport. as Easirent couldn't help me. Of course none of the other rental agencies had vehicles available at such short notice. One of them informed me that I was the third traveler they met that day with a similar story after Easirsnt failed to provide a vehicle. Sixt was able to accommodate me for a 10 day rental but not that day. I had to take a cab to my parents home & pick up my 10 day rental from Sixt a couple of days later. I wonder how the other two travelers fared? I typically rent from Sixt or Dan Dooley as Invidit Ireland every 6 months. I will never make the mistake of renting from Easirent again

Pros: Nothing really. The rental car pickup is not really "at" the airport. Dierctions to where their shuttle picks you up are non-existent. They tried to get us to rent a GPS, they brought out 3, none worked properly. Didn't take the GPS off the bill. The car was not advertised properly. Too small, sure it could "hold" six people, but forget luggage. Will never rent from them again.

Awful experience.
Pros: The car we eventually got kept working and did not break down - that is the only nice thing I can say.
Cons: The fact we were left standing outside at night for over and hour waiting on the shuttle service, that we were given a smaller car than that booked, that there were loads of extra charges we could do nothing about was appalling! No sprinkler in the car so could not wash windows! Problems dropping off car - no one at the return location. Lost so much time was late for my flight. Like others, what appeared to be a good deal was really not one. I will never use this company again!

Pros: The staff was friendly. Both the renting and drop off procedure did not take much time
Cons: For first time renters, the drop off location should have been explicitly stated at the time of pick up, which would have been helpful.

Never found the company.
Pros: I rented a car for Dublin Airport. They were not at the airport. No one seemed to have ever even heard of them. I ended up having to rent with another car rental place at the airport and it cost me more money plus I had paid for car insurance ahead of time which I was told was a scam... but this was by someone else how was renting a car to me. I had no # for Easirent and no good info on how to find them.. Being in a foreign country. Not fun.

29 May 2017
Pros: It was a good quality car. No problems with the vehicle.
Cons: The vehicle we reserved (an automatic) was not available and they were really sketchy on the reasoning. When we called for the shuttle about an hour or so after we had landed (our flight was a bit delayed) they said they were out of automatics because we were late. We ended up taking the manual, and when I asked them what happened while I was at the counter, they said "there were a lot of accidents this week so they sold out of automatics." I said well then that means they weren't all out because I was late, doesn't it? And he got rather flustered. It felt like a bait and switch, and would have been extremely problematic if I wasn't able to drive a manual as the other rental companies were charging 1.5x what I had booked for.

Cons: I ordered and paid for an automatic, but they only had a manual transmission. Therefore I had to overpay for the manual they gave me, and said customer service would resolve it. The customer service group has not responded to my messages.

Top tips for renting a car in Dublin

  • The best way to fully experience the joys of Dublin is by car. You will find renting a car is a much simpler way to get around Ireland’s capital city than relying on its hectic public transport system. Plus you benefit from having freedom to discover the best sights at your leisure. Naturally, you’ll want to visit the iconic Guinness Storehouse, which has free parking on nearby Crane Street. Or further afield, less than an hour’s drive outside the city, you’ll find the wonderful gardens of Powerscourt House in County Wicklow.
  • Less than 20 miles from the city center, Dublin Airport offers excellent opportunities for car hire. When you arrive at the Airport, finding the car hire desks could not be easier. If you’re arriving from a regional flight, you’ll find the hire desks in the Arrivals Hall at Terminal 1, or, if you’re on an international flight, you’ll arrive into Terminal 2 and go to the multi-story parking lot to book your hire car.
  • Firstly, you must remember that everyone drives on the left in Ireland and, as Dublin is a small city, you can expect to navigate much smaller roads. To get the best out of your driving experience in and around Dublin, stick to the main routes and avoid shortcuts, as you may get lost. The city is a rabbit warren of one-way and dead-end streets that can outfox even the most experienced drivers.
  • To save you from traffic jams and gridlock, always avoid the Dublin rush hour between 7:30 am and 9 am, and in the evenings around 6:30 pm. It’s also best not to drive near the Liffey River at these busy times. In the darker, winter months, be wary of fog and mist, which can affect driving conditions, as can the frost on higher routes.

However, if you’re visiting on St Patrick’s day (March 17th), parking on the street is free of charge! Most parking lots have a competitive daily rate which depends on which zone you’re in. Hourly rates are between $1.00 and $3.00. However, be careful not to park in forbidden areas because you will be clamped, or even towed away.
