Pros: I love the choices of pillow that the hotel provided. Room was nice & quiet. There was also free minibar & snacks daily, though there wasn't any alcohol. Hotel also provided free shuttle to most key places of interest around Sultanmet. The conceirge were also very helpful in providing authentic street food choices.

Cons: The glass panel didn't cover the entire shower area, so water would seep out. Also, there's an emergency button that's hung next to the toilet flush - the emergency button is easier to access compared to the toilet flush, so strange.

Pros: It’s a stone throw away from the main Istanbul attractions. It’s a beautiful hotel in the old city...soo much charm. The gardens are absolutely stunning and the staff are amazing. My kids received little gifts every day which they loved it made their stay so special. Concierge was soooo helpful in sorting out whatever we asked them to or helping with planning our day etc. it’s a stunning hotel and I will be back next time I’m in Istanbul !

Pros: This is the second time in two years our travels took us to Istanbul. Both times we experienced the unusual - even by Four Seasons standards - helpful attitude of Manager Serkan O. He was proactive and thoughtful in providing services above and beyond, which were hard to do on short notice, including making arrangements for transport to the airport, finding space in the already fully booked on-site restaurant, and engaging into mutually interesting exchanges that made us feel like we were at home. Otherwise, we feel that it is uniquely convenient to stay in this Four Seasons location (a former prison now remodeled into a unique hotel) in the old city near the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and Grand Bazaar. We also took the hotel's very luxurious boat to the Four Seasons Bosphorus, then walked back via the pedestrian street Istiklal. Our room was large and luxurious. The on-site restaurant has many wonderful dishes, with a charming garden mascot. The rooftop bar offers stunning views of the Hagia Sophia. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Istanbul.

Cons: All excellent ! 2 small details only : Interior lighting only , I thing needs small improvement . Should have dimmers for users to be able to have more intense vibrant light whenever needed ( for example to read or write sth ) Also small detail .. for the curtains.. which were closing by remote control ( that was really excellent and cool!!!! );still It would be more practical and flexible if they could close separate on each window (not all together)And 2 operation only things for the elegant spa area located at the basement : 1) they should have some promotion for hotel residents ( it’s common at most 5* hotels to offer a discount at most services for their customers ( massage, hammam etc ) and 2) they should stay later open in the night . Since Istanbul is an amazing city(!!) , it’s difficult to get back so early( 7 pm ) to have enough time for the spa ( it was closing at 9pm )

Cons: They need to pay attention to the room maintenance more. On the first night I found 4 light bulbs not working in our room, the bathrobe had a large tear under the arm and most of the TV channels didn't work. After reporting this to the front desk the next morning only one of the light bulbs was replaced. Perhaps the others were too difficult for the house maid to fix. The front desk said they knew about the TV channels not working but shugged it off. It shows the lack of attention to detail shown by the head of housekeeping not to have each room signed off by a supervisor.

Cons: Broken bed/ misplaced luggage/ no toilet paper provided: specifically, we were in a duplex suite with an extra bed that was broken and took all night to get staff to replace...Misplaced luggage that almost caused us to mis our flight despite email requests, clear directions on 2 occasions...NO APOLOGY...wouldn’t provide toilet paper or body wash without calling directly and were treated as if we were inconveniencing the staff

Cons: I didnt like that they charged me for 5 rooms when i was only suppose to pay for one I booked as a family for 4 rooms When we arrived we all paid separately for our rooms However when checking my bill i saw 5 rooms were billed to my card Thereafter it was explained to me that the 4 would be reversed as they were pre authorized the day before my stay and will be paid back to me within 3- business days as its a international bank im dealing with If i was informed of this id of let them bill my card and each family member pays me back. Other than this mild panic i enjoyed everything. I will be monitoring my account over the next few days to check if the funds are reversed.

A migros minimart is also a few metres away from the hotel in the same lane which makes it even more convenient location wise especially for those travelling with family and in need of larger qty of everyday basics like milk,water etc. I would definitely stay at the galata if I visit Istanbul again.

However, the next morning we were moved to the rooms we had originally booked and we were very happy with the quality of the interconnecting family rooms and the comfortable beds. The use of a pool was a big plus and the spa and steam room a big asset. Afternoon tea was free and the patio garden was pretty.

Cons: Very small rooms, Mehmet moved one of us to Sura Hagia Soofia facing this hotel and we were happy but we kept a room at this location thinking it's not worth wasting time for moving. Surprisingly, the gym and the spa was in Sura Hagia Soofia and we had a choice of break fast in either hotels. These two hotels are the same but one is 4 start and the other 5 star. We had mosquitos in our room. Telephone wasn't working.

Cons: The photo that sold the hotel to me of an open rooftop terrace is misrepresentation as the terrace is now not open but enclosed in a glass box. No irons is rooms which is very unusual these days and was a hassle to persuade the hotel manager to loan me one. The room aircon was noisy and inefficient at its lowest setting. The curtains didn't join and left a big gap waking me up at dawn. Reported, Confusion at check in. I had extended my stay via email, which was confirmed but on arrival the extra night was not there. On two mornings, my uneaten breakfast was cleared while I was at the counter getting tea. Then saw the waiters laughing about it.

Pros: At first when I read negative comments about the location of hotel I wanted to cancel my reservation but I am thrilled that I didn't do that.The fact is that if it is your first time in Istanbul try not to find the location of hotel from Galata because it is kind of tricky in winding streets of Istanbul. The best way to get there is from Halic metro station which is in front of hotel s' Ave, there is a Pilaveci at the beginning of Ave.It only takes you 2minutes to get to your hotel.The surrounding neighborhood is commercial area so it is very safe at night however they close soon and it very quiet at night so you can sleep very well.Thank you so much Mr Galib,the manager of hotel, for your kindness and carrying my luggage and bags up to Halic metro, you made my travel unforgettable.The rooms are spacious and clean.I will definitely come back

Pros: An excellent location; a 7 minute walk from Karakoy Tramway and the Tunnel Station. The tramway goes to SultanAhmet, Serkici, and Grand Bazar. The Tunnel Station goes to Istiklal Street. So you are in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Istanbul. There are several local restaurants and grocery stores down the street. The guys at the front desk are cool, helpful, down to earth, and respectful. I stayed at the single room; It isn’t that big but TBH its not too bad for one person. It has a mini fridge, TV, bedside table, and a desk. The hotel gives off an industrial and vintage kinda vibe. It is clean, quiet, and safe. They have 24 hour front desk help. The only two problems I had were the size of the shower room. It was so tiny but clean, new, and has hot water all the time. But in their defense, I am 1.90 cm and weigh 115 kg. So if you are small or mid sized, you’re good. The second problem is that the bathroom has a sliding glass door overlooking the bed which was a bit odd and out of the ordinary to me personally. But truth be told, it looks modern and stylish. Other than that, everything, from room service/cleanliness, ambiance, safety, location, and customer service was very good.

Minor things - no shelf in the shower to put shower gel and shampoo, not enough hooks for towels, only one side table by a double bed, which made one person put things on the floor next to the bed. If the breakfast had a whole grain bread and a real bean coffee, it would be just perfect;) And just be prepared that if it’s rainy, all the city water comes down the slopes to the hotel location and you can’t go out! We went out and soaked and drowned till over knee height! Better wait inside:) As for the rest, the hotel is really nice and made us satisfied, and contributed to our enjoying Istanbul! Thank you!

Cons: they are crazt busy and the hotel is decieving, initially they put us in a basement room, you can smell the mold. the hotel is old and the sheets were stained, maybe not dirty but stained and old with holes, the sheets were not changed out entire 6 days stay, the checkin was a disaster, out bags did not get to the rooms for 30min after we got to our rooms, bathrooms small, no kid friendly anything in that hotel. the staff was nice but everything else made the hotel a rip off for the price

Pros: Very nice hotel, great location! Staff was very nice, let us choose the room we like (2 beds or one bed). The breakfast was good, everything you need for breakfast was there. The next days of our stay in Istanbul we moved to another hotel, and regret we didn’t stay at Purl. Purls’ location is very comfortable, tram station is very close.
Cons: The toilet was narrow, but thats okay.

Pros: So, I Booked the Purl for half a day between my last reservation and my flight. Although they say check in at 2pm, luckily they had a room at gave it to me at 11:30am. I also got a free upgrade to a sea view room which was fantastic. The rooms were very clean and would recommend anyone to stay there.

You are either in the walking distance or short ride to anywhere you want to go in Istanbul. Location is fantastic. Staff is very helpful and makes sure your satisfaction and comfort is a priority. The hotel is decorated in Ottoman style so it gives good feeling of Turkishness. FANTASTIC breakfast with a FANTASTIC view. I definitely recommend this hotel!

The room was very nice decorated and we have a nice view over the Golden Horn and the Galata Tower. The breakfest was basic with good choices. Almost in every day we have 4 bottles of water in the refrigerator.

Pros: My room and bed were really comfortable and clean. There are 2 bathrooms for each floor and there is hot and clean water. The area was extremely safe due the lively evening with the music on and lots of people eating and spending some time at restaurants around the hostel. The other good aspect is that after 11.30 pm the music stops and I believe is to respect people who want to sleep. If you're a female looking for a hostel, I recommend to stay in Hanchi Hostel. This hostel is close to groceries, pharmacies, the Grand Bazaar and Beyazit tram and metro station. However, you'll have to walk a bit to reach the Beyazit tram and metro station. As a solo traveller, I could feel the distance but those travelling in company may not feel the distance though as time passes quickly when chatting. From Hanchi Hostel to Sultanahmet it only takes 20 or 25 minutes of walking, so you can visit Aya Sofya and the Blue Mosque easily without taking the tram everytime. However, if you want to take the tram, Sultanahmet is 2 stops away from Beyazit (where Hanchi Hostel is located). The staff members are helpful and polite. They all spoke good English and I'm sure they know more languages which make the communication with multi-cultural guests easier. The breakfast was really nice and healthy. Guests get a plate with a variety of food but we don't have a choice as there is no buffet. I would stay at Hanchi Hostel again. Excellent price too, especially for students.

Cons: Forget about getting sleep, if you need to get up early. The bar next door does concerts every evening and they last till well after 1 am. They are so loud that the floor is vibrating. It's some kind of bad wedding music. Other bars around also have local bands performing but they don't use microphone on full volume. Unfortunately the one right next to Hamchi uses all possible means to be heard everywhere. Also the free breakfast is quite poor.

We have brought back rich and everlasting memories. You were a great hostess and took so many pains to make my family and I comfortable. Reception area is big and provides comfort that once you step foot inside you can feel it’s a safe haven in the very busy Istanbul. It hosts several shops and a cafe. Rooms are lovely, not small. Beds are very comfortable. Bathroom was big, clean and had basic toiletries. I would definitely stay at the Wyndham Old City Istanbul again in the future.

They then cancelled our booking as they said my credit card had been declined but I have not heard from u to say it had been declined and I had offered to pay long before. Our cups were not washed everyday our tea coffee not replenished. Air conditioner not working. Flowers dead in the restaurant for our entire stay

Cons: Upon approaching the reception we were informed that their was a problem with our booking because it didn’t show on the hotel’s system. They suggested we contact Kayak or hotels.com to solve our problem. They didn’t offer to help us by contacting them themselves although we showed them the confirmation we had several times. To be fair, once we sorted out the issue with the reservation, they upgraded our room and offered a discount on breakfast.
One of the chairs in the room had many stains on it. It looked clean but with hard-to-remove-stains. I think it’s beneath the Wyndham station to keep a stained chair in a guest’s room. The carpet had few stains as well.

Cons: The room is very very small. I have never been in such small hotel room. Pictures are not showing the real size of the rooms .The bathroom was not so clean, there was also a bad smell from the bathroom canal. To take a shower , you have to wait 2-3 minutes for the hot water to come. Then you have to wait 1-2 minutes more to set the water with normal temperature. Also we spotted few cockroaches in bathroom. The cleanness is on very low level. The reception service offered us, a very expensive and not special restaurant on the Galata bridge. I dont think they should offer this restaurant again, because the food was very bad, service also. I can rate it with 1.

Pros: Great hotel for smokers because everyone smokes so much that the wallpaper and air smell like cigarettes! You can smoke cigars on the restaurant patio even though the smoke blows right into the restaurant - a fantastic smell when you're trying to enjoy your meal.
Cons: We stayed at Tunel for 5 nights. Our room was fine for 4 nights w dodgy wifi but then for the last night, they moved us to a disgusting and tiny box of a room where the wifi did not work. The room was dark because 2 of the main light bulbs were out. The floor was severely scratched up, wallpaper peeled, plastic headboard deteriorated onto our faces while we slept! It stank like cigarette smoke. The ceiling in the shower was mouldy and dropped wet chunks on us while we were showering. They skimped on towels. The blinds fell down with a loud thud when we opened the window. When I shared these issues with the front desk she offered a one-time free £3 breakfast. I told her I wanted a new room and she said she had none. I looked online and found that they had THREE available rooms. I asked her why she was being dishonest with me and she said it was because she could get more from a client who booked online.

Cons: When my parents first checked-in , they had to go to another hotel as the hotel staff informed them there is some maintenance happening in the rooms which was so frustrating for them . Then they checked in again next day and all was fine .
