I had one hell of a time figuring out how to get a hold of Avis to do this as the internet option told me I had to call someone. It took 30+ minutes to get a note in my res. We were over the 2 hour pickup window due to a rail delay. Hertz gave away our car (an automatic that I paid $200 extra for in Scotland). Only car left was a stick shift...fine I’ll drive a stick!! But no reduction of price !!!8.4 Very Good

Pros:
We were picked up at the airport (you have to call them and they will be there within minutes). The collection process was really quick and easy. The staff was excellent and showed us quickly the specifics of the car (which by the way was upgraded). We were offer onsite to reduce the Excess to 0 or to £100, we chose the latter which was ~£50 extra for the 3 days we rented the vehicle. The drop-off process was very easy and quick too! we got another ride to the airport from there. FYI, they took £300 deposit from the credit card which will be refunded after you return your car and they check everything is OK.Cons:

Service was poor and filled with sneaky additional charges with little explanation. After paying for full insurance and having a defective front tire to start, they refused to reemburse for the replacement we had to fix during our trip out of pocket. Completely Irrational explanations as to why, $390.00 USD for a 4 day rental is an absurd scam. From the original quoted price of $89 +$150 for full insurance total. Upgrades were given and put on bill and told at desk no additional cost (nav, car upgrade) based on inventory availability after booking in advance, then charged to the final bill. The pick up process was slow and confusing. We got a flat tire and there was no spare, no patch kit, and Budget was extremely unhelpful throughout the entire process. Ended up having to pay for a tow truck, and a new tire out of my pocket and then upon returning the vehicle, there was no one that was willing to talk to me about the whole experience and just told me to call the customer service line, which is even worse to deal with, and it was just a terrible rental experience all around. The issue with the tire is still unresolved, and I am spending hours trying to get reimbursed, but to no avail. Worst rental experience I have ever had.Arnold Clark
