The hot springs were nice, especially the outdoor one. It felt great with the weather being so cold. The hotel was located around a lot of nice souvenir shops and restaurants/cafes. There were a lot of nice bathroom amenities, including a miniature skincare set.
It would have been nice if there was a microwave in the bedroom. The sauna was a little too hot for my husband and I. We couldn't really breathe in there. My only other complaint was the cost. For what it was, it was a bit expensive.
The hotel is a ryokan with a lot of charm. I enjoyed the futon bed and the clean tatami. The room was rather cold but the bedding really warm, I slept very well. The outdoor spa (rotenburo) was simply fantastic.
The walls of the rooms need to be refreshed. The hotel could have their own place where to smoke (you need to walk to the next hotel, 30 m way, very close but awkward).
The Koyokan ryokan is sister hotel with two other places with hot springs and the front desk managers will be able to take you to whichever you like if you also want to enjoy hot spring elsewhere. Although a bit old, the room was spacious and clean and the futon was comfortable. The tea they provide in the room was good.
There were some audible noises and music playing late at night. Access to the lights are on the outside wall of our room next to the entrance.
