The hotel is a ryokan with a lot of charm. I enjoyed the futon bed and the clean tatami. The room was rather cold but the bedding really warm, I slept very well. The outdoor spa (rotenburo) was simply fantastic.
The walls of the rooms need to be refreshed. The hotel could have their own place where to smoke (you need to walk to the next hotel, 30 m way, very close but awkward).
The Koyokan ryokan is sister hotel with two other places with hot springs and the front desk managers will be able to take you to whichever you like if you also want to enjoy hot spring elsewhere. Although a bit old, the room was spacious and clean and the futon was comfortable. The tea they provide in the room was good.
There were some audible noises and music playing late at night. Access to the lights are on the outside wall of our room next to the entrance.
