Il Borgo di Genova - Genoa - Bedroom
1
9.3 Excellent (227 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in San Fruttuoso, this guesthouse is within a 15-minute walk of Piazza Colombo and Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Chiossone Museum of Oriental Art (Museo d'Arte Orientale) and Piazza de Ferrari are also within 1 mi (2 km). Genoa Genova Brignole Station is 5 minutes by foot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, really nice room. Good service perfect stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is in an old but very nice/ typical Italian building, close by Brignole train/ metro station. So the location is very good (Brignole train/ metro station is one of the main stations in Genoa). You can find nearby different stores and trattoria(s). If you would like, you can walk to the (old) city center, Genoa Porto Antico, Piazza Ferrari, etc (15-30 minutes). The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. The owner is very friendly and is always around, ready to help/ provide you with information you might need.
Cons: There is a small (and probably busy in the morning) pedestrian street, which is used in the morning to easily reach the metro/ train station. It could be a bit noisy in the morning but if you keep the window close there is no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was very central, within 2 minutes of the train, metro and local taxi rank. It was also pretty central to walk to the shops and conveniences
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs are pretty step which I understand is standard for Genoa, as other people in local hotels said there were not lifts and they had to walk up flights of stairs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Giovanni was incredibly helpful. We needed additional assistance because we were travelling with wedding cakes which needed repairing after the flight. After that was sorted he asked us if we needed anything else, which he didn't need to do.
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs were difficult for my mum due to her age but I understand this is typical for the region.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect.
6.3 Good
Pros: Giovanni was very helpful and willing to give us detailed information about everything. Check in was quick and easy and the communication with Giovanni was great.
Cons: The room wasn’t very clean and the bathroom towels had a musty smell when wet. Petit entrance with very steep stairs! The neighborhood was a bit strange because the rooms are behind the railway station.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Easy to get to, very close to Brignole Station, 30 mins on Vola Bus from airport and just €6 each! The property is 10-15 mins walk to Piazza Ferrari, a great place to begin exploring the city. Giovanni was an excellent host, very helpful with where to visit and places that were not so necessary (we only had 1 full day in Genoa). Our flight was delayed which was not a problem for checking in. We were also left a map in the room on arrival with great information circled and suggested for all kinds to see and do! Overall a very good experience with the property, could have stayed longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great customer service, Very Clean modern rooms, fantastic location just on edge of old town, easy to get everywhere
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Giovanni is a wonderful host. It was my second time staying there and it was brilliant. Every time I visit Genova I shall only stay at il Borgo
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Le Nuvole - Residenza d'Epoca, you'll be centrally located in Genoa, steps from National Ligurian Gallery at the Spinola Palace (Galleria Nazionale di Palazzo Spinola) and 3 minutes by foot from White Palace (Palazzo Bianco). Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in the old town of Genova. Walking there late at night from the station is not very comfortable, but doable. But I think, I wouldn't do it again, and if, only in company. The hotel is furnished and designed very tastefully. You can see it in the pictures and it is exactly like that. The staff is extremely kind, every single person from the check-in to the breakfast staff and check-out! I paid the breakfast in addition. Everything was very fresh, the fruit delightful. The only thing I have missed, was a "vero caffè Italiano". The room was bright and big, the bathroom with window, bright too. It was a perfect stay and I will certainly come again.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location in an interesting part of the historic centre. A little awkward to access by vehicle
Cons: Nothing really except access
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fantastic space! We had a double that had a loft. Friends staying at the same time had a smaller double - both were very nice rooms. Although ours was bigger, theirs had a better view. I found going up and down the stairs to go the bathroom a bit challenging at night - but it was nice to have the extra "sitting room" to entertain our friends. Beautifully decorated. Nice big windows. Fantastic location and quiet even though off an occasionally busy square. Very nice common areas and totally appreciated that you could go grab a carafe of sparkling or still water for your room - and tea and coffee etc. Elevator for luggage etc. and in a great location. The hotel provides all sorts of information when you book - including walking instructions to find them - which I suggest you follow as old town Genoa has many small streets and is easy to get lost! Their instructions were clear and easy and got us there no problem. They also recommended a parking lot - which worked well for us. The desk staff in the sister hotel (where you check in) were really lovely to deal with, and although the sister hotel was a "higher end" hotel (it has absolutely stunning common rooms), I was very pleased with our room and our hotel next door.
7.9 Good
Pros: The room was clean, comfortable bed and great location.
Cons: Room was quite basic. A mini fridge in the room would be nice, and a microwave in the coffee making area with some plates and cutlery would be nice too...
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean & Stylish - good communal lounge area.. Situated in the old town ...
Cons: Very noisy street at night - hard to find as it was down a very narrow alley way
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfortable. Conversion f rom palazzo to hotel very stylish. V good breakfast. Would return
Cons: It would be very easy to hit your head against stairs in room 4. A hazard
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The personnel were professional and kind. I appreciated their excellent communication skills. Alfonso was very quick in his responses to my requests. I liked the location, the building, the room, the mattress on the sofa bed and the common area.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is nice and close to beach. Quite and convenient to go to Genoa by train. 15 minutes. However, not very baby friendly. We took our baby for traveling since he was 3 months old and first time we got charged for baby. The rest is good in this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, very big with two windows, lovely views and a balcony. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, express check-in, and express check-out. Limited parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, beautiful building, expensive parking
Cons: It should have some English speaking channels on the TV.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was close to old town , room was big and breakfast was great.
Cons: It needs to be refurbished.Toilette need to be renovated and it needs a good clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A historic building in the centre of Genoa. Close to museums and the cathedral. Staff invariably polite and well-trained.
Cons: I had difficulty finding the hotel, arriving by foot. As is generally the case in Italy, there is a reluctance to use intelligible sign-posting. Same applies in the hotel itself to the whereabouts of rooms. One day, perhaps a thousand years from now, Italy will both wake up to the possibilities of the signpost as also to the annoyance caused to business customers by being made to pay an additional hotel tax at the end of their stay. Everywhere else, this tax is simply swallowed into the invoice presented for reimbursement.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in Genoa. Walked everywhere Breakfast was good.
Cons: Common areas were quite warm. Elevator service was slow. Bed was hard.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Not much
Cons: Horrible WIFI. Bad coffee and not many healthy choices at breakfast. Terrible parking. Nowhere to unload the car, the parking is slow, Off site and expensive. The Brustol has no door person and this hotel needs one.

Cons: N/A
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish, richly decorated hotel which reminds me how luxury hotels were built in beginning of 20th century. Located in city center. Breakfast good but not excellent.
Cons: Valet parking is expensive 27 euros! Entrance to the hotel is not very prominent and is easy to miss when driving.
10.0 Excellent

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent superb choice excellent service and little new editions every morning
Cons: A little expensive
6.7 Good
Pros: The hotel staff was friendly aside from the gentleman I spoke on the phone, and the hotel was clean.
Cons: Given this is a 5-star hotel I was pretty shocked to realize there was only cold water available in the first morning of my stay, which translated in a cold shower and shave. This was my first experience of such a case despite having attended about 150-200 business hotels all over the world. I was even more surprised to see that the hotel had not a single iron available, urging me to attend the congress without wrinkled shirts. I think that such problems (negative experiences) can always happen (although I have to admit it was a bad coincidence to find out about 2 uniquely experienced grievances during my first morning). However, the way how the gentleman at the reception handled my surprise & complaint about these 2 grievances was by far the worst part of my experience. My conviction is that a 5-star hotel should definitely try to make up for such a disruptive guest experience and offer a free massage, drinks or another service such as free ironing. The location of the Melia hotel within Genova is ok but far from outstanding. The hotel has been kept clean and offers a standard breakfast. IMO the breakfast does not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel.

Pros: Restaurant staff and food was fantastic. Thank you!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I am a „Marriott“ bigot... BUT I am going to include Best Western in Europe going forward as an excellent value!! This NOT the BW I „know“ in the US... Moreover, I am now at my 2nd BW in Santa Margherita... the „Regina Elena!!“. FANTASTIC!!
Cons: Furnishings in restaurant/ beach area are nice, but modest...comfortable, but „European.“

9.0 Excellent
Pros: It's my second time in this hotel, it is in a perfect location in from of the Porto Antico. It's clean, easy, staff is available and all services are ok.
Cons: Being there during events is expensive, as expected, especially during Salone Nautico. That said, the only concern was WiFi which is working partially and low speed.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very central, close to main train station as well as the harbour.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great for exploring the old city centre and waterfront.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is well located, pretty close to the Aquarium, our main attraction during the visit. The room was quite good, with plenty of room for me,my wife and my little daughter (we requested a crib and it fit without issues). Breakfast was excellent!
Cons: Getting there by car was not so easy. We parked by the door just to take the luggage and moved to a parpking lot nearby.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly receptionists. Very helpful with location of other areas of interest. Very helpful with parking instructions. Fantastic hot and cold breakfast buffet for the 4 Euro.
Cons: It took me a few trips in the car (1/4 mile loops) to find the correct parking lot. But I finally did. The BW gives you a partner rate of 18 Euro in an otherwise more expensive 24 hour lot.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast (please try the Bel Paese cheese!), great staff, spacious room, dark and quiet
Cons: Fixed shower head, secluded location and rather acoustic hallways

7.5 Good
Pros: The shared areas are beautiful. Great spa, though small, so not much fun if people are already in there, but if you get it to yourself it’s fantastic. Staff are friendly and polite and helpful. Excellent breakfast spread. Good toiletries selection in rooms, gorgeous complimentary slippers too. The bath in our room was huge and a whirlpool, which was lovely. It’s a handy location, right opposite a train station and a short walk to the harbour.
Cons: We booked an executive double, we picked specifically because of the photos shown on booking.com, it was a little out of our price range, but as it was being booked for final night of our honeymoon we booked it as a treat. We picked it solely on the decor and how much we loved it. When we checked in they acknowledged that was the room we booked, we went up and discovered we’d been put in an outdated family room, the decor was tired, unimaginative and nothing like the room we’d picked. I went back down to explain my issue to reception and was told we’d been upgraded. Whilst the family room was more expensive, it was not an upgrade. We had booked a room with one large king size bed, our room instead had two queen size beds, which the receptionists tried to imply was better - how are two smaller beds better than one very large bed, for a couple on their honeymoon? I asked to be moved to the room we booked, explaining that we picked it based on the decor; she said they were full and there was nothing they could do. I was also displeased to discover that it was a street facing room and the traffic noise was substantial. Much better glazing is required. As it is a five star hotel I’d expect a quiet night’s sleep. But beeping horns and sirens could be clearly heard. I had mentioned to the receptionist that we really needed a quiet room, as we are light sleepers, but as I said, they were full, so there was nothing she could do. She was a lovely girl and very apologetic, so I told her not to worry about it, as it wasn’t her fault. She also mentioned that the room we had booked was street-facing and would’ve had the same issue, but I would’ve been less bothered by the noise had I been enjoying a stay in the room we’d been looking forward to for months. We also discovered a dirty hand towel in our room, with a stain that we are going to hope was caused by chocolate...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything including location
Cons: Everything was perfect
7.7 Good
Pros: Good bathroom, comfortable bed, courteous & helpful staff.Breakfast was a good experience and the food and service at the trattoria is excellent.Pity the water shortage meant the spa was shut.
Cons: The first room:TV and bedside lamp did not work. The second room layout had not been well thought out to enable easy use of the available facilities.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Old hotel but full of character, love the lobby and bar and such friendly staff, brilliant service.. executive room upgrade was worth it
9.2 Excellent
Cons: Front desk staff could use a little more training on local area , asked about the royal palace and was told not sure of exact location, on my way home I found or. Is only a few blocks away
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, location, facilities and Grandeur
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good, it has a good selección of fruits, bread, cold meats, juic
Cons: We arrived and there was no one in the reception no one to help with luggage
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay - our view was of a beautiful courtyard with all of Florence beyond, the staff were super helpful, breakfast was ample (and available till noon!), and the breakfast staff fantastic. Would very much recommend this hotel :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Need an address in Genoa? Savoia is the best place. Really charming hotel, very nice staff, great location opposite Principe station and close to the old port and a great breakfast spread - not always a given in Italy. I'll be back.
Cons: Nothing. All the details are right.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: i loved the authentic architecture. the staff were super helpful. when I request things like a different iron in the iron room they sourced it out. the roof top bar/restaurant was a beautiful experience as was the spa. On my birthday i had a personalized not and a bottle of prosecco which was super sweet and when i was leaving one of the staff member helped me with my luggage to the platform!! it's the little touches and they superseded them. the hotel is super close to the metro and train station so my day trips to milan and pisa were made that bit easier by not having to travel too far to get into bed at the end of the day. the breakfast options were fresh and very extensive - they even had a honey comb which you could scoop honey from, awesome! I can't wait to come back.
Cons: the mat at the front of the building was old and needed changing i guess but that's not a big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, our room was large, comfortable, clean. The staff were wonderful and breakfast excellent.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Very nice room.
Cons: Did not have place to set soap or shampoo in shower, floor only.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Excellent place to stay. Walking distance from Train Station and hotel is located in the middle of all the action. Spent two nights and could have spent 3.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I found the hotel and access to the Hotel Savoy lovely. Nicely decorated. Room very clean and charming. Lovely soaking tub. View only of inside tiny alley like court and many windows. But I did like the hotel!
Cons: The restaurant attached to the hotel, which was recommended for dinner by the desk staff. Unfriendly staff dinner food was terrible. No flavor. The bread was good. Breakfast was in the same place, included in hotel stay was good. Again staff very unfriendly almost rude. Only 2 times with dinner and breakfast did any staff smile or thank us. Even not acknowledging when I thanked them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very convenient: across from the train station; walking distance to the older part of Genoa, and a short taxi ride to the airport. The accommodation is comfortable and a great value.
Cons: The elevator can either be quaint or a little annoying, but it’s a minor concern as it works well.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location s great, next to the train and bus stations and there are good restaurants near by as well. The hotel is lovely, quite boutique and having the option to use the facilities of the Hotel Savoia next door was great.
Cons: Our room was very small, and we struggled with two suitcases and having space to put them. Ditto bathroom. The bed and pillows were not very comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A very good traditional Italian hotel with nice touches like the Art Deco lift. Added bonus that it's linked to the sister hotel next door which has 2 public terraces. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms seemed recently refurbished and clean. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Although the hotel is close to the railway station, the road wasn't too busy and there were plenty of good restaurants within a few minutes walk.
Cons: The hotel restaurant was disappointing and expensive compared to other local restaurants. The bed was too hard and would have been better with a mattress topper.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location opposite the train station and plenty of restaurants/cafe bars on the door step. Beautifully furnished and decorated. Very clean. Staff extremely friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble especially when I'd forgotten my adapter and they let me borrow one for the duration of the stay. Extra pillows and coffee arrived promptly. Breakfast was nice good variety. Visit Portofino a must - 50 mins to santa margherita on the train 3.60 euros. From there you can take the boat or bus. We walked the coastal route took about an hour but you see so much more, it was stunning.
Cons: Minor things - road and corridor noise but expected. No tourist maps in reception Not hotel's fault but taxi from airport was 30 euros, returning 15 euros so not sure how that works! Some areas down by the harbour - a little shady with unsavoury characters!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. Plenty to choose from and the attendant welcomed us and looked after us well. No complaints, everything was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Apart from the noise it was lovely. Nice big room. Great gym. Nice staff.
Cons: Typical city centre hotel with lots of traffic noise.

7.9 Good
Pros: Good location to all main destinations of Genova Was good breakfast: combination of european and italian for all tastes
Cons: Not fresh smell in room. Didnt like on reception asked to stay our passports to them on 10 min
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Leaving
Cons: All of it
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is just a block from the main train station in Genoa and next to several pizza and gelato places. You can walk the wharf and over to the old town sites about one mile away. We liked that breakfast was part of the room rate.
Cons: You get what you pay for, a very basic, nothing room and hotel in what we felt was not the best part of town - however, staff was wonderful. Beds were very hard and didn't get much sleep. My husband drove all over looking for the parking lot and when he couldn't find one and came back to the desk, then they told him "oh, just park it out front and some one comes and gets it and brings it back when you want it" - would have been nice to know before running all over the place in a hectic city.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff were very friendly!
Cons: Definitely needs a facelift, I don't know when this building was built but I am sure the carpets are original, as are the pillows. Compared to other hotels in other large Italian cities of the same star rating this one was disappointing
4.2 Okay
Pros: Very good
6.2 Good
Pros: The reception people was very helpful and nice.
Cons: The room was small and the queen bed was made with two individual mattress, it is uncomfortable because you feel the division
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, friendly Staff and a very good breakfast, good connection with public transport. Close to old town etc. lots of eateries in the district
Cons: very expensive parking even with the discount from the hotel, we paid 24 euro's for 1 night
6.0 Good
Pros: very close to the center of the city and the train station
Cons: Very, very hard to find with GPS and a good sense of direction. Small hotel signage at the end of a busy one way street - with very limited parking. Good if you are walking or taking a cab - nightmare if you are driving.
4.6 Okay
Pros: the staffs are quite friendly
Cons: the room was not how i expected, it looked much better in the picture
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great lication.
Cons: Breakfast had less options. No egg!!
