Il Borgo di Genova - Genoa - Bedroom
1
9.3 Excellent (227 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Il Borgo di Genova in Genoa (San Fruttuoso), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Luigi Ferraris Stadium and Piazza de Ferrari.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, really nice room. Good service perfect stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is in an old but very nice/ typical Italian building, close by Brignole train/ metro station. So the location is very good (Brignole train/ metro station is one of the main stations in Genoa). You can find nearby different stores and trattoria(s). If you would like, you can walk to the (old) city center, Genoa Porto Antico, Piazza Ferrari, etc (15-30 minutes). The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. The owner is very friendly and is always around, ready to help/ provide you with information you might need.
Cons: There is a small (and probably busy in the morning) pedestrian street, which is used in the morning to easily reach the metro/ train station. It could be a bit noisy in the morning but if you keep the window close there is no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was very central, within 2 minutes of the train, metro and local taxi rank. It was also pretty central to walk to the shops and conveniences
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs are pretty step which I understand is standard for Genoa, as other people in local hotels said there were not lifts and they had to walk up flights of stairs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Giovanni was incredibly helpful. We needed additional assistance because we were travelling with wedding cakes which needed repairing after the flight. After that was sorted he asked us if we needed anything else, which he didn't need to do.
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs were difficult for my mum due to her age but I understand this is typical for the region.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect.
6.3 Good
Pros: Giovanni was very helpful and willing to give us detailed information about everything. Check in was quick and easy and the communication with Giovanni was great.
Cons: The room wasn’t very clean and the bathroom towels had a musty smell when wet. Petit entrance with very steep stairs! The neighborhood was a bit strange because the rooms are behind the railway station.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Easy to get to, very close to Brignole Station, 30 mins on Vola Bus from airport and just €6 each! The property is 10-15 mins walk to Piazza Ferrari, a great place to begin exploring the city. Giovanni was an excellent host, very helpful with where to visit and places that were not so necessary (we only had 1 full day in Genoa). Our flight was delayed which was not a problem for checking in. We were also left a map in the room on arrival with great information circled and suggested for all kinds to see and do! Overall a very good experience with the property, could have stayed longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Giovanni is a wonderful host. It was my second time staying there and it was brilliant. Every time I visit Genova I shall only stay at il Borgo

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were stressed from a bad experience in our previous town and it was pouring. The manager went out of her way to make us feel at home. She gave us an upgrade to our room, told us to go, have coffee, relax, then come down and finish the payment process. It was just what we needed. The room was gorgeous, super clean, spaceous, the coffee and cookies were amazing, and the people really pushed it over the top--so kind and accommodating. Every one of them. The bathrooms and decor were updated, modern, and very clean. Shower had a rainfall waterhead and worked perfectly. They even got us a taxi to go to the airport, so getting there was the hardest part. I read previous reviews about the hotel being difficult to find and they were right. When we left and came back, we always looked for the ice cream shop to recall where to turn in. The hotel was amazing.
Cons: We loved everything about it. It was slightly hard to find, but once you find it, you will easily find it again after you wander around this gorgeous city. People in shops and restaurants were welcoming and spoke enough English that we didn't feel like foreigners.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely bed and pillows. Water, tea and coffee in a guest sitting area. There is an elevator. Across the piazza from a beautiful church. Plenty of restaurants in the area.
Cons: The hotel was a bit hard to find because taxi has to drop you off in a nearby piazza. I was traveling after dark. I felt safe, just a bit confused by the narrow streets. Otherwise, a good location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in the old town of Genova. Walking there late at night from the station is not very comfortable, but doable. But I think, I wouldn't do it again, and if, only in company. The hotel is furnished and designed very tastefully. You can see it in the pictures and it is exactly like that. The staff is extremely kind, every single person from the check-in to the breakfast staff and check-out! I paid the breakfast in addition. Everything was very fresh, the fruit delightful. The only thing I have missed, was a "vero caffè Italiano". The room was bright and big, the bathroom with window, bright too. It was a perfect stay and I will certainly come again.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
7.0 Good
Pros: Old stylish building
Cons: Mirrors for 1m 65 hight, too many lamps and Buttons that are hard to switch off
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice building, just in the center of the old town.
Cons: Streets around in the evening are not "feel safe".
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fantastic space! We had a double that had a loft. Friends staying at the same time had a smaller double - both were very nice rooms. Although ours was bigger, theirs had a better view. I found going up and down the stairs to go the bathroom a bit challenging at night - but it was nice to have the extra "sitting room" to entertain our friends. Beautifully decorated. Nice big windows. Fantastic location and quiet even though off an occasionally busy square. Very nice common areas and totally appreciated that you could go grab a carafe of sparkling or still water for your room - and tea and coffee etc. Elevator for luggage etc. and in a great location. The hotel provides all sorts of information when you book - including walking instructions to find them - which I suggest you follow as old town Genoa has many small streets and is easy to get lost! Their instructions were clear and easy and got us there no problem. They also recommended a parking lot - which worked well for us. The desk staff in the sister hotel (where you check in) were really lovely to deal with, and although the sister hotel was a "higher end" hotel (it has absolutely stunning common rooms), I was very pleased with our room and our hotel next door.
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean & Stylish - good communal lounge area.. Situated in the old town ...
Cons: Very noisy street at night - hard to find as it was down a very narrow alley way
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfortable. Conversion f rom palazzo to hotel very stylish. V good breakfast. Would return
Cons: It would be very easy to hit your head against stairs in room 4. A hazard

Pros: The room was clean and spacious. The location was great, close to the aquarium, and only a short walk to the old quarter or the local train stations. Relaxing on the balcony of an evening was special.
Cons: Food service was a little slow due to being busy, staff apologised profusely but we still had to wait a long time.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed in this hotel a couple times already and it is just magnificent. The staff is very kind, the bar is exquisite, very good breakfast and drinks (never had a lunch or diner). The views to the marina and the aquarium are a great bonus, you can see the dolphins from the aquarium jumping on the water during breakfast! Old town is just a couple minutes walking and there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby.
Cons: There's nothing I dislike about this hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The large bed and the marina view. The quiet room. The efficient and friendly staff.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit dated with the shower in the bathtub.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was awesome. A little bit far from subway station, but it was good location to walk to waterfront sightseeing area and also to the city of Genova. Room was not luxury for its price but affordable.
Cons: Staff were friendly but didn't assist us on time. We had to ask them the same request couple of times. Because drainage of bathtub was broken, we were offered another available room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very nice
Cons: The air conditioning is not function well
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is good and views of the Marina from every aspect is very Pleasant.
Cons: Piped music in breakfast room and all public areas. So no where to sit quietly.
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel's location and it's vicinity to the Genoa aquarium. The room was very large and the bed was very comfortable. Hotel staff were very helpful and the breakfast was just right.
Cons: The hotel's decor needs revamping. The bathroom needs redecorating. The lighting in the room was also poor.
Hotel Genova Liberty - Genoa - Bedroom
8
8.9 Excellent (2,082 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hotel Genova Liberty places you in the heart of Genoa, within a 10-minute walk of Piazza de Ferrari and Medieval Gates (Porta Soprana). Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and an elevator. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place at city center. Comfy and stylish rooms. Amazing old building with a city view. Lots of places you can visit by foot. Skilled personnel that always ready to help with any request. There is no parking lot at the hotel building but you can use one at the shop center across the street with a discount. Highly recommended.
Cons: Separate mattress on a double bed. Sometimes they just split.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel could not be better. Despite occupying the third and fourth floors of a grand building it did not detract from the quality of my stay. The decor is excellent with some impressive stencilled ceilings. It is only a short walk to Brignole station. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel but at the moment during the summer season. Read below. The staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast was fine.
Cons: It is unfortunate that the one continuing issue I had was with the noise from the central heating in my room. The system has only recently been turned back on for the winter and it appears difficult to find someone to let the air out of it. This is, I was told, a problem with getting the owners of the building to address the issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is excellent, right in the middle of town, the entrance, however, is a little disguised as it is not very well signed and is in a building housing multiple businesses. Decor and cleanliness is faultless and the staff are friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is simple but fresh and tasty.
Cons: everything was excellent except for the minor detail of signage at the front door, which could be because of heritage restrictions or similar. I would stay there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good central location
Cons: Hard to find
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good value, convenient location for transport and sightseeing. Friendly staff. Very impressive for the price.
Cons: There was some annoying noise from the plumbing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Inexpensive place to stay in a good location only a ten minute walk from Genova Brignole train station. Port and waterfront is maybe a 15 minute walk from the hotel. It is on the 3rd and 4th floor of an old building so the rooms are smaller which is to be expected in older buildings in Europe in general. If you get there after hours like I did, at the main door to the building (a large, attractive wooden door) there is a buzzer labeled with the name of the hotel that you will ring to get buzzed-in. Then proceed to the 3rd floor. There is a beautiful old elevator you can use or take the staircase. At check-in, you will get the keys to your room and the keys to the front door of the building so that you won't have to be buzzed-in after hours during your stay. My room (10) was clean and quiet. It was really two small rooms, a bedroom and a small living room equipped with a kitchenette. Staff spoke English and were great with help and suggestions.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located within the walking distance to the city centre in one of the main streets on the 4th floor of "historical" building. The room was large and comfortable. Air conditioning and all devices operated well. Breakfast was very good) Nice restaurants are available not far from the hotel. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful))
Cons: If travelling by car, it's important to know that it is impossible to stop the car on the street where the hotel is located, even for check-in only. Since the hotel occupies one floor of the building, there is no large sign, you won't be able to identify it when riding along the street by car. It's important to follow hotel info re parking (they send letter) and either find parking first, or find the nearest street to leave the car at and proceed to the reception for check-in and parking info.

Pros: Clean, comfortable, with excellent staff and free WiFi. Good breakfast and location. I stayed for 5 nights on business and it was perfect for what I needed. Good value too.

Cons: The metal bed frames were a bit squeaky
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Why so bad? 1. Bed bugs made me itchy hives in arms and legs. I have no allergies. 2. I informed one of the owners, Giulio, about this problem and that I wanted to cancel my last night. He denied a reimbursement saying that the system does not allow it, and would have had to take money from his pocket. 3. You cannot use the kitchen for lunch time. Also you cannot be in the bedroom from 11 to 13:30, for cleaning purposes. Not even sleeping. 4. The owner, after knowing that I was not satisfied, reported a “No show” to booking.com to avoid this comments.

7.1 Good
Pros: The hotel was modern and clean. Our flight arrived late, so it was a good solution until the rental car office opened the following day. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was quite nice (with a rain drop shower). Breakfast was decent.
Cons: The decor in the lobby is a little insipid and the hotel is located in an industrial zone. It is only 5 minutes from the airport.
6.0 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: We arrived late at night by bus and it was very hard to reach the hotel on foot as it is close to a very crowded street. When we called in a quite desperate state, we didn't receive the support from the reception that we would have liked to get. Finally we arrived there by taxi. The breakfast was ok, but not made with love and kind of standard.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice with a lot of amenities. Great value for the price, they have a shuttle for Genoa airport which makes it very easy .
Cons: Location is not the greatest, however you are close to the airport and close to a train station.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was fabulous
Cons: I loved the hotel.
7.7 Good
Pros: Good bathroom, comfortable bed, courteous & helpful staff.Breakfast was a good experience and the food and service at the trattoria is excellent.Pity the water shortage meant the spa was shut.
Cons: The first room:TV and bedside lamp did not work. The second room layout had not been well thought out to enable easy use of the available facilities.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is slightly uphill from the train station (a few minutes' walk). The staff was responsive to my initially being assigned to a room where the train noises were so loud they shook my room, moving me to a room on a higher floor. (I could still hear many of the train noises there, but they were much softer.) The restaurant in the hotel next door (another hotel with the same owner) is a trattoria serving Genovese food and it was absolutely fantastic; you can book a reservation through this hotel's reception, which I recommend as it can be quite busy.
Cons: The hotel is quite a walk from the main sights of the town. The room I was moved to had a much worse layout than my initial room and it was very easy to hear noises and talking in the hallway even though it was harder to hear the trains. The shower was extremely small. No one ever refilled my minibar (during my entire stay) but housekeeping kept re-adding the charges I'd already accumulated so I had to keep asking reception to remove them.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Front Desk service was excellent. Best breakfast buffet. Convenient to train, bus and taxi. Staff was friendly, competent and accommodating. Fluent in the English language.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean
Cons: The staff can appear to be rude. One young ma in particular at the front desk.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious and the decoration was modern and stylish. The bathroom was gigantic and very clean. The TV had a lot of channels in several different languages.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location for the train station, spotlessly clean, easy to check in and as there is no key you can just leave on your day of departure rather than check out. Comfortable mattress and hot shower
Cons: Loads of people hanging around in the lobby and stairwells, although that may just be the weekend that I was staying
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was nice, in a good location and the room was comfy.
Cons: The noise of the wind outside my room, and the curtain didnt close properly.
6.0 Good
Pros: location. friendly staff. price.
Cons: oversoft mattress. sink in room. no evident ambient heating control (termostat instructions).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the location as I was leaving Genova by train and the hotel is next to the main station. It's also convenient for the port and the old town. I had a nice large room, not always the case when you are in a single room, with a view over the Piazza and the statue of Christopher Columbus. The hotel is part of a chain and is fairly basic but comfortable and pleasant to be in. There is an amazing old fashioned lift. Would I stay there again? Certainly.
Cons: Breakfast, although perfectly good, is served in a rather small area which can get crowded.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Very confusing, not cooperative check in was confusing, family of 4
4.0 Okay
Pros: Hotel was very convenient to the train station which made day trips easy. Besides the staff at my initial arrival, everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Wouldn’t let me check in two hours early or wait for my room even though I was soaked and there was a thunderstorm outside. Room had not been cleaned properly as there was hair in the shower from a previous guest. Mirror over the sink was mounted so high I could only see the top half of my face. Closet almost unusable as the television was hung in the opening. Bed horribly soft. Felt like I was sleeping in a college dorm room or a hostel.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was very nice. The design of the room was nice with the storage floors.
Cons: Pictures of room look awesome but room did not compare. Our room smelled like fried food. Didn't want to take our shoes off because the carpet didn't look clean.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Very good location and friendly staff.
Cons: Old and dirty hotel,it definitely needs a renovation.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice place just outside the train station, excellent if you are just passing by Genoa and only will spent a couple nights, and then take a train to another place like Nice or Florence. Fair price for a good room, and if you are in good shape you can walk to the main attractions of the city.
Cons: The location isn't bad, but is not the best if you want to be near the lively areas of the city.
7.9 Good
Pros: Centrally located
Cons: Steps in room.
6.2 Good

Pros: very close to the center of the city and the train station
