Galway hotels near Galway City Museum

Pros: - Home cooked breakfast combined with fruit & cereals buffet was very good. - The owners were very friendly and gave useful tips for restaurants etc. - Nice sitting room downstairs for having evening tea.

Cons: - The mattress was quite good but the pillows were huge, so it was not very good for neck. But I'm sure there would have been smaller pillows available. We just forgot to ask.

Pros: The main thing is we felt at home. Great family ownership and thoughtfully prepared breakfast. On the outskirts of the busy section of Galway which we really liked. Easy walking distance from anywhere in Galway.

Pros: Breakfast was great with a variety of choices. Mike and Breda were very friendly and helpful. Location was excellent only 5 minute walk to the centre of town. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

Pros: I was greeted by host Michael with a smile and hug, just like visiting a long time friend. They bed was very comfortable, the breakfast scrumptious, served by his daughter who asked after or plans and expressed an interest in our day. Location an easy walk to everything.. oh, and plenty of hot water for a great shower!

Pros: Location was short walk to center. Breda and Mike were best hosts, recommended places to eat and suggestions for day trip depending on weather we’re spot on- our trip to Aran island was great! Mike gave suggestions for drive to our next location and we couldn’t have been happier- drive was spectacular. Thank you and see you next year!

Pros: Super location & free parking. Good wifi. Fantastic size of hotel, lovely spaces, great lobby area, pleasant reception staff, good bedroom, lovely bed, great en-suite, great elevators. Second breakfast was fantastic - had a menu, lots of options incl pancakes! Think the staffing levels make the big difference..

Cons: Eating in the bar, each time the tables were sticky, menu cards grubby,service slow - busy & noisy - probably understaffed but not a great experience. Sorry. Similar for the Leisure centre, in particular the showers were dirty & I did not go back in. First breakfast I was offered tea or coffee but no menu with other choices - was disappointed.

Pros: The bar had delicous food. Location great next to the bay. Free parking.

Cons: Restrictive Wi-Fi allowing only one device to be used at a time. I had to go and ask for another password for the 2nd device. Noisy parties in the lobby/bar/restaurant areas (in my opinion, large private parties should be in a separate area from the hotel guests). No chain on the door.

Pros: The only redeeming quality about this hotel is the ... well the beds were decent.

Cons: The worst thing about this hotel is the staff. I was booked for a 3-night stay and left a day early. If I stayed any longer, my whole vacation would have been ruined just by the interaction with the staff.

Cons: The check in was so humiliation. I had booked a double room on line from another hotel the day before and when we arrived at the check in I asked has our room a sea view . The lady I was dealing would said she would check however another person said no . I asked can we have a room with a sea view and was told no as the hotel was fully booked out and we were given room 348 whick in my option is no more than a prison cell you see on the tv it was so clostaphobuc with a view of a wall outside our window....it was that bad .my partner just wanted to leave and go home however I checked on line and booked 5 rooms just to see if any were available which they were . I then went back to the reception and looked for a change and got another room but no sea view at least there were trees this time to look at and just gave up ......we then left the hotel by taxi to go for our dinner and returned without using the bar or lounge as we were disgusted with the hotel... Why the lies ...

Cons: All the scuff marks on the walls of the hallways. Really off putting and makes the hotel look dirty.

Pros: Dinner was quickly served and good quality. Staff very helpful at breakfast. Clean and fresh room

Pros: We were in a quiet area. Great for sleeping. Beds were reasonably comfortable. Bathrooms were clean and our room looked great after the team was in for cleaning. The location worked for us as we were traveling around, not necessarily only needed to get into town. We came in from the East and traveled North one day, then hit the city and traveled South the second day in that area.

Cons: We were two people vs. tour groups. We had to adjust our schedules (obviously) around these groups. Dinner service was not that great as the teams were more geared toward servicing the groups. If we had been closer to town, we would not have stayed for our meals. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing as well as the kitchen could not keep up with some of the standards for a "full Irish breakfast." Eggs, beans, tomatoes were out both mornings and we had to wait about 10 mins to get them. Minor in the big picture of things.

Pros: The access to the parking is quite good. Location is perfect is you are with the car as getting out of the city is easier. Walking distance to city center is 30min. The food is ok, a little expensive compared to the pubs you find in Galway.

Cons: WiFi in the room was not the best at all times. Sometimes you had really poor or no connection.

Pros: The staff were extremely helpful. Food was good. Loads of parking.

Pros: V Comfy room and bed v good breakfast apart from undercooked porridge for 2nd time!

Cons: Dark grey paint is awfully corridors v dark afraid to walk about on my own in ironing room felt v isolated and high risk if anyone decided to follow you in major safety risk !! Ironing facilities should be in room!! Receptionist on check out very unhelpful poor attitude had to ask for. Receipt which she obviously took exception to as when I asked her if she could staple debit card receipt together with Hotel receipt she set the stapler on reception desk and said there you go very poor customer service I shouldn’t even have had to ask she should have offered as is the case in any other hotel I have stayed Manager definitely needs to have a word !!!

Pros: Have stayed in this hotel before. Have always found staff and management to be friendly, efficient and offer a great service. I would be very happy to recommend this hotel. In fact, have recommended to family and friends. We hope to return again in the near future. Thank you.

Pros: Visited on a charity cycle ride from Mizen Head to Malin Head . Staff extremely friendly and helpful . Bikes were securely stored and follow up connectivity re a delayed package was much appreciated . Our thanks to all .

Pros: Lovely staff. Very pleasant and helpfully. Spotless clean rooms. Food great. Would definitely go back.

Pros: Breakfast was standard fare. Fry, cereals and fruit. No cold meats. Self service. Location is a little far out of the city centre. Taxis required for a night out in the town but for the business traveller it would suffice. Parking was okay.

Cons: Better choice at breakfast. Bar was in foyer. Foyer was not warm and welcoming. No big armchairs or privacy.

Pros: Nice modern hotel. Easy to find with free parking. Pleasant staff and allowed to check in early.

Cons: WiFi signal was poor in our room but staff were keen to rectify when I brought it to their attention.

Cons: Room position was awful - next to the elevator and kept me awake all night. Bathroom was ok but quite old / dated.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent and it was so quiet and peaceful and there was so much choice of different foods for the breakfast. The dining room was so big and the staff were so helpful and so very nice.

Cons: Overpriced more 3 star than 4 star. Basic rooms. Decor outdated. Not fussy normally, but Friend booked same room that day and got it €80 cheaper. Requested early check-in on bookings.com. Hotel said they would try to accommodate but room wasnt even ready at check-in time had to wait an hour to check in. Room was cold. Breakfast ok.

Cons: Breakfast was very average and tasteless. Ensuite and showers also average for a hotel with high prices. While the staff were excellent the bar was without atmosphere and expensive.

Pros: This is a 5 star hotel with beautiful views of Galway Bay. The staff , food and accommodations were excellant. The staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Pros: The ample free parking was great. No car juggling to get in or out, which one often finds in Europe. Very nice view and an easy drive to Barna and Spiddal for good food without the crowds. The room was large and comfortable and the WiFi worked well. The staff was very friendly.

Cons: The restaurant was over-priced for the breakfast buffet compared to other places we stayed on this trip. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed by large groups on tour busses, which made for slow service. Basically, the restaurant was understaffed and over-priced. The Coco Café a short walk up the street had an excellent Irish breakfast and good service for about 1/2 of the cost of the hotel.

Pros: The choice was very wide ,a fresh selection of everything you could want for breakfast and the staff were there to help if required .the over all experience was a good one.

Pros: Food was good, pool was fantastic and it was a great location. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Restaurant and bar staff very nice.

Cons: Our room had two inner rooms as bedrooms. One of these was locked. We arrived tired and wanted to lie down for a bit, but it took 50 minutes, 4 phone calls and us actually dropping down to reception for someone to go up and unlock the door to a bedroom. The receptionist attitude was pretty terrible, she seemed annoyed that we were ringing every 15 minutes. Except at every call we were told "Someone will be right up" and "someones just on their way up now" -> so it seemed fair enough that we would expect to see someone in 15 minutes. When we finally went down to reception again we were met with an attitude of irritation and when we said we'd been waiting 50 minutes they said well it's very busy. That's fair enough, but if that's the case then don't tell us someone is on their way up - so maybe we could have got a coffee or gone for dinner rather than just standing waiting for an inner door to be opened.

Pros: Everything! The reception staff were amazing! The facilities were fantastic! Was very quiet! The gym anc pool area outstanding! Was on bus route and away from the city but centrally located enough to get to places!

Pros: It was clean good food and great car park, rooms had everything you need. I have stayed before and would again.

Pros: Rooms were spacious and equipped with the basic necessities. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. Value for money stay.

Cons: Had to wear swim caps to use the pool so you’d have to purchase them from the counter if you don’t already have one.
