Fez hotels near Medersa Bou Inania

Pros: Beautiful riad and good location. Great view of the medina from the roof terrace. It’s just inside the medina and near a parking lot which is just outside the medina. It only takes 10 minutes by foot to be in the center of the medina.

Pros: The rooms are spacious but the air conditioning not functioning well .

Pros: My husband and I stayed here during our 5-day trip to Fez and loved it, very calm and relaxing place and the staff is so amazing. They were some of the friendliest people we met during our 2-month journey in Morocco. Breakfast is lovely, and the location makes it very easy to reach the Blue Gate and other attractions via taxi (no getting lost finding your way through the medina, unless of course you want to ;)). Wifi was good for us digital nomads, our room was cleaned regularly, and I can't stress enough how awesome the staff were - we felt like they were family by the time we left. Pros: The staff are friendly and helpful. The environment is clean and beautiful. I can feel the way of arabian family lives in this house. The breakfast is great, a very satisfied breakfast.

Cons: We had 2 people, if our room can have 2 chair for each of us, it would be better.

Pros: This Riad (hotel) is located close to the edge but within the old city (Medina) – it requires assistance to access, as taxis and other wheeled vehicles have no direct access. The Riad will arrange to meet your taxi at the closest main gate. It features a beautiful atrium, three stories in height, and onto which all the rooms have a direct outlook. There is also a roof terrace with recreation area and good views of the city. While there is no elevator, the obliging staff are only too willing to carry your suitcases to your room. A traditional breakfast is included in the tariff, and a limited-menu dinner can also be provided at an additional charge if desired. The proprietor, Ahmed, is friendly and obliging. For example, he arranged to purchase a train ticket for me so that I did not need to make a special trip to the train station (online ticket purchases seem to be restricted to those with a Moroccan credit card). The free wi-fi worked well, and the rooms were elegant and charming, with an old-world, Arabic ambience. Ahmed also arranged for an English-speaking Guide for me, as it would be impossible to negotiate the narrow streets, lanes and alleyways of the Medina without a Guide. Fortunately, the Medina in Fez does not permit wheeled vehicles of any kind (except small trolleys), which is a great advantage over the equivalent precinct in Marrakech, where you take your life into your hands as the sometimes fast-moving scooters etc. negotiate their way around obstacles such as pedestrians! Fez uses donkeys and mules to transport heavier loads through the streets and laneways of the Medina (beware the manure).

Cons: I did find, however, that the lighting level in my room was a bit too low for functional requirements. My only criticism was that my Guide appeared to be nothing more than a tout for various tourist venues and retail establishments. At every stop, I was passed over to a merchant who started doing a sales pitch. I told the Guide I wasn't really interested in buying tourist souvenirs, but he took no notice (he's probably on a commission).

Pros: Amazing friendly staff. Beautiful riad. Call the staff to help you with your bags and find the location!

Pros: Traditional design at its best, an amazing hideaway just meters from the center of Fes. Exceptionally hospitality from all staff. Really nice breakfast and dinner in the restaurant next to the pool. I wish I had more days!!!

Cons: It´s not really a luxury hotel as one might expect, the dinner was just normal. Roof terrace was not accessible.

Pros: Firstly as most Riads in the area, this one was stunning. It was more upscale than others. The air conditioning worked excellent. The property itself is completely clean and tidy. They have multiple room types, depending on what you are looking for. The staff, incredibly considerate and thoughtful. We particularly had most of our interactions with Zakaria who greeted us at check in, was the waiter for all our meals, and just had such a hospitable approach to our stay. We had a phenomenal time. The location was great. Easy, clean and SAFE parking. It in a great location for access to the busy medina. It is very easy to find, not a big trek from parking to the medina itself. Perhaps a 3 minute walk if you're able to get to the right parking. Staff speaks English wonderfully so it's very easy to communicate with them. We will definitely be visiting them again.

Cons: We had a stunning and one of the most prestigious rooms in the Riad. The AC worked excellent, however it sounded like a legit windstorm going on in the room. We were able to sleep through it, but if there was any single thing I would pin point that could have been 'fixed' about our stay, it would be the electrical/engineering of that unit.

Pros: Public rooms, reception, and staff very good. Offered and accepted mint tea very welcoming. Staff care and attention faultless. Food at both lunch, dinner, and breakfast were top class. We ate both lunch and dinner Moroccan style and they were in my view authentically Moroccan ( and tasty) They also provided a local musician by the pool who sings and plays an instrument. I enjoyed it ( it's a successful effort on the riads part)

Cons: Only observation was that the only available twin bed room ( I'm not sleeping with my brother) was high up small with a tired bathroom. We did however sneak a look into one of the suites. Wow. Would have booked if not with my brother.

Pros: This hotel completely exceeded my expectations. It was even better than the photos. I had some of the best food here for my entire time spent in morocco. The hotel staff were so attentive and so friendly, I absolutely love this place and would recommend anyone visiting Fez to stay here. one of the two nights spent here was very entertaining. Whilst my friend and I were enjoying dinner near the pool, people were playing traditional music, doing henna, and a tour group were also enjoying a cooking class run by the hotel. very happy with the experience

Cons: Everything about this experience was horrible. After making a reservation through Kayak, I contacted the Riad directly to check if they can arrange for an extra bed in the room. The Riad said they didn’t have my reservation so I sent along the reservation confirmation I received from Kayak’s partner site. The Riad subsequently responded and said that they didn’t have any rooms so they would accommodate us at Road Myra which was generally in the same location and looked good online so I agreed as long as the same requirements and rates would be honored. The Riad continued to communicate with me about airport transfer etc which lead me to believe that the same owners or management staff manages both the roads. When we got to Riad Myra, it was a horrible experience. At first, they claimed that they didn’t have my reservation, didn’t communicate clearly, didn’t tell us about Riad amenities (we were coming from marrkech and had a wonderful experience at 2 roads here), and proceeded to give us a shitty standard room with such low ceilings that we felt claustrophobic. When I told them that I had booked a suite and absolutely needed it starting next day since our third friend was arriving they said they would move us the next day. Next day, on inquiring about airport transfer for my friend, they acted clueless. Then called the original Riad and proceeded to take over the arrangement . When I asked them to adjust the room price given we didn’t get the suite on first night, the manager, Salma said she would talk to the other Riad. Subsequently Salma avoided all eye contact and communication with me for next 3 days. On the final day she got one of the porters to settle the dues and I requested to speak with her regarding my question. She reluctantly called, spoke to the other Riad on phone (which she had clearly not done before as promised), gave me vague answers and proceeded to charge me 40 € extra per night for my third friend although we had agreed to to 30 € in prior communication on email. Overall I recommend everyone to stay away from road al amine fes and Riad Myra. I urge the management to ensure staff and especially manager, Salma doesn’t ruin the guest experience.

Pros: I spent nearly a month in Morocco staying in numerous love at ions throughout the country, and I can say unequivocally that Riad El Amine Fez was the nicest of all! The staff was welcoming the moment I arrived. The Riad was beautiful and unlike many who have a covering over the courtyard permanently Riad El Amine Fez employed a retractable cover above the courtyard that they were not shy to open up.and enhance the ambiance & magical Moroccan light of this enchanting accommodation. I would be remiss if I didn't also didn't say I had the two finest meals in my entire stay in Morocco! As we say in the US, this wonderful & unexpected home away from home, was a Home Run!!! The staff arranged for an all day trip with my special request for a fluent English speaker in the Middle Atlas Mountains that was simply sublime, and I would express my many thanks to Mustafa for the memories that'll last a lifetime in this magical place that this Riad helped play a significant part!!!

Pros: The riad was great and the location was good since it was in a quieter part of the Medina. Since the riad was in the outer part of the Medina, it was easier to find a parking spot for the car which is great for travellers who are doing a roadtrip through Morocco.

Cons: No credit cards were accepted in the facility

Pros: Very beautiful Moroccan riad with a pool where we enjoyed our bath. Nice and friendly staff,big and clean rooms, great location and sufficient and tasty breakfast!

Pros: The Riad was gorgeous and the views from the rooftop of the medina were amazing. Staff was very friendly and helped organize tours for us, and special takeaway breakfast packages.

Cons: The location was to be as expected, in the heart of section in the Medina where a lot of locals live. We had done research so knew to expect the crazy hustle and bustle, but it is still quite an intense experience.

Pros: Staff is really amazing, helpful and friendly!

Cons: There were some cockroaches found on the room (one of the most expensive ones)

Pros: We had a very large room with a separate reading are and a second bedroom with two beds. Private access to the terrace with gorgeous views of Fes. Breakfast was absolutely lovely. Lots of food, fresh and hot

Cons: Amount of smoking inside is almost unbearable. Not used to that in North America

Pros: The athmosthefere and staff was top notch. The riad is well preserved with beutifull decoration and astonishing terrace with an excellent owericiew of the Medina. All the staff are super friendly and will try to setisfy all your needs.

Cons: More a comment then anything else. The riad is on the far side of Medina, which is a little off the touristic side. Also don't expect a five star hotel expirence with the cleanlines and facility's but an authentic experience.

Cons: The pool / water of the pool was not clean so we didn't feel comfortable to make children play in it.

Pros: If judging by looks alone, it was pretty.

Cons: As soon as we walked in, the staff began pressure-selling us on different experiences for an additional cost — before even giving us a WiFi code or information about breakfast or checkout timing. They described their own city as dangerous (specifically warning us against people who would arrange overpriced tours of Fes — exactly what they offer at the riad). We had to repeatedly insist on wanting to find our own restaurant for dinner instead of taking a hired car to a restaurant of their choosing for a set cost. They sold us a tour of the old medina for 10€ a person, insisting this was the only way to successfully see the old town, but set us up with a guide who barely spoke a full sentence of English and had trouble walking up the cobbled stairs of Fes. The tour didn’t show us anything we couldn’t have found ourselves and led to more pressure selling from the leather salesmen in the famous tanneries. In fact, the tour began with the guide telling us we should bring our credit cards to use at the shops where he’d negotiate prices for us. We ended the tour half way through with awkward resistance. We would understand if we felt there was a genuine desire to help facilitate our sightseeing, but while they were very willing to book a private car to destinations of their choice, they were unwilling to book us a cab to where we wanted to go — even just to the centre of the medina. Instead of giving us any useful information, they tried to scare us off the idea of going outside, telling us repeatedly that we might get “trafficked”. Once we finally convinced them that we could handle ourselves in Fez, we began to enjoy our experience of the city. It’s a real shame that they felt they had to do it down, apparently just to make some extra money in commission. To us it just felt like we were being scammed, and we were relieved to check out.

Pros: Beautiful terrace. Our Nezha room had an exit directly to her. Very peaceful place. The children enjoyed sightseeing, breakfast and free running. The square, mosques, souks... are in the immediate vicinity. Parking is 10min away. Because we slept only for one night, we took with us only the most urgent tings. Since Ramadan all the restaurants was closed during the day, but we still enjoyed roaming. People are not intrusive.

Cons: The only bad thing was clogged bath in the bathroom.

Pros: We loved the terrace , waking up with the sunset and the beautiful view that you get from there was simply amazing . The position is just perfect !

Pros: Stayed 5 nights in what is likely their nicest room, top floor with windows and private bath. It was still awful.

Cons: Complete scam. Do not stay here. Sleeping here was like sleeping in a snake pit. Staff tries to con you out of money at every turn. When we left, we tried to pay the city tax and laundry etc with a credit card, about 75 euro total--they refused to take it screamed at us, then threatened to call the police on us. We eventually were able to pay them in cash, just like they wanted, and then they still sent us a bill for 250 euro. This was only the last and worst thing that happened. They also lied to us and said there was no bus to Ifrane and the only way to go was by booking a tour with them. Turns out, there are buses, and we wound up taking a grand taxi very easily. They also recommended we book an official guide for the city--though them of course, at a high price-- which was supposed to be 3-4 hours long and provide a history of the area. We booked the tour--but it only lasted 2 hours, and consisted entirely of being walked in circles through a very small portion of the Medina, and being taken to stores where we were expected to buy things we did not want. When we told them that the tour was short and all shopping, they said well it sounds like he took you through the medina and did all he was supposed to do. Well, that's not how they sold it initially. The bathroom also smells HORRIBLE--they told us that we should close the shower drain because people have complained before. We closed the drain. Still smelled disgusting, and leached all through our room (we even opened the windows, to no avail). The mattresses are very hard and uncomfortable--feels like you are sleeping only on a box spring. The internet was in and out--at one point, staff noticed that I was trying to make a call but that the call kept dropping. She told me that it was actually my fault because their internet doesn't work with Mac computers. Complete nonsense. Basically, this Riad treats you like a little idiot and tries to suck money out of you at every turn.

Pros: I enjoyed the terrace and the view over the medina.

Pros: Staying in a typical Moroccan building had a special charm. Compliments to the staff for the friendliness and good tips for exploring the surroundings. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the entire old medina was a wonderful start of the day.

Pros: Kareem who works on the reception is so warmful and without his helpness I was very hard time I could spent becuz I was sick Many stress but he helped me out..

Cons: Personel not nice, we booked room with the breakfast, but we didn't get breakfast - this was big problem- staff even started shouting at us. We lost a lot of time because of that. Bathroom is old and was dirty, we didn't have hot water. We were really mad and disapointed. I do NOT reccomend this Riad.

Pros: Dar Tahri is a very unique Morocco decoration style of accomodation, situated inside the Medina but very easy reach to the Blue gate which is a really nice location. The breakfast on the top floor was so relaxing !!! The very special staff we met, Aziz , was excellent!!! We were shocked to learn that our room was on the 3rd floor because of our heavy suitcases but he carried all of them for us without a word!!! He was very informative and helpful about everything we asked, and even volunteered to go to CTM to buy our bus tickets for ChefChaoUen!!! Moreover, he even brought us to the taxi stand on the next morning when we departed Fes for Chefchaouen! Aziz has made Fes become our top rated city and received the most hospitality welcome on our whole journey in Morocco.

Pros: The hotel is right in the middle of Médina and closer to the blue gate. Easy to get to taxis and about 10 mins away from the train station. But u are at the right place of the attractions. The staff is friendly. There was a overbooking situation and the manager arranged us another place for our first day stay and got us shifted to Dar Tahri on the next day making all the arrangements to shift our bags. Aziz the person who looks after the property was very good to us and speaks good English. Breakfast was ok and we got egg to the plates. Hot water was working properly and had no issues

Cons: The hotel is not as to what you can see in the images. It’s not that attractive as to these photos. And I feel bit too pricy and you can get better hotels for the same rate. The rooms are not very much clean. The rugs are unclean and old. The beds are not comfortable but very hard.

Pros: Location is great. Easy to navigate from the blue gate and along the main street.

Cons: Door has issues with locking (we had to keep trying) and room lacks ventilation - but okay after you turn on the air conditioning.

Pros: The owner, Aziz, is a really nice and helpfull man, speaks english! The women who are working there are kind, make up the room every dat and serve a perfect big breakfast, which we had on the rooftop. There was a great view! There are 6 rooms, so it is quite there. Our room was big and spacious. We had a double bed and a 1person bed, a living with 2 couches and a big bathroom with towels, soap and shampoo and a terrace. The location is great! It is a few steps to the 'mainstreet' in the medina and close by the Blue gate. We were with 2 Dutch girls, but the streets were very safe to walk by ourself, also at night after dinner. So, it is a great place to stay!!!

Pros: Highly recommend this hotel! The rooms are big and clean, the staff is very nice and speaks english! The pool is big and we enjoyed swimming very much. We had a very nice dinner in the arabic restaurant of the hotel , which also was at Good value and beautiful decorated. We like the location very much, you can walk to the mall next door, many restaurants or cafés in the are and it is easy to park at the hotel. Also quick ride to the souk. You can take a taxi there or drive yourself , we did both. We were lucky and got a late checkout so that our baby could take his afternoon nap! Will come here again!

Pros: The room was well insulated and quiet. We had clean towels everyday. Delicious treats were delivered to our room everyday. The lighting is beautiful and functional. The view from the balcony is Amazing.

Cons: The spa prices are rather expensive and not interesting.

Pros: The staff was really kind and helpful. On the day we left, we were able to stay at the hotel and swimming pool for all day. We got daily fresh towels, water and decorative flowers. The room and the view was really nice.

Cons: There was no waterboiler. The Bath is very dangerous. The drinks from the minibar are very expensive. I paid 95 euro more then what they promised me when i checked out. This was a dissapointment when i saw my creditcard account.

Pros: - The location

Cons: - We found some hair in the bed. - The bathroom was old and many handles didn’t work properly. - only 1 wardrobe for 2 people. - no cold water when you wanna shower, the lowest setting was so hot and confusing shower handles that were half broken. I paid at the checking but then at the checkout I was asked to pay again. Hopefully I paid by debit card and kept the receipt they could check that I really paid.
