A car rental at Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is mandatory, especially if you plan on visiting destinations in small towns that public transport cannot access. Edmonton International Airport car rentals come in handy by giving you the freedom of operating at your schedule, unlike the use of buses which forces you to operate on the fixed schedule of the bus. Car rentals are also cheaper than the use of taxis throughout your stay.
Fortunately, travelers can book a car rental at Edmonton International Airport via KAYAK. Booking your rental with KAYAK is fast, easy, and convenient since you do it from home and save big through the discounts available on the website. Finding a fitting rental on KAYAK is easy. Simply filter your search according to your budget and preferred rental type. Do this a few days before your flight and quickly drive away with your rental when you arrive at Edmonton International Airport.
Making returns at Edmonton International Airport is easy because the return car lot is the same as the pick-up lot. This way, you can easily find it. Follow the directions leading to the return lot when you enter the airport. An important thing to keep in mind about a drop off is to make sure your rental is clean, free from damage, and free from your belonging. Making drop offs during your agency’s operating hours is ideal. However, some agencies like National provide after-hours return services for a more convenient drop off.
Edmonton International Airport experiences peak times before 9 am and between 2 pm and 6 pm. These are the worst times to transit through the airport. During these times, it can take up to 2 hours to transit through the airport and pick up your rental. For a smooth and quick transit, try looking for flights that arrive outside peak times. The airport is also busy during holidays like summer. We advise against flying into the airport during such holidays if possible.
Book your car hire at Edmonton airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

I particularly enjoyed the vehicle and the service at the Hertz counter and with the staff when we dropped off the vehicle. The thing that disappoints and continues to disappoint when I hear about it in the automotive industry. That is the failure to supply a spare tire and further not to supply an emergency repair kit pump and so on for the existing tires. I had travelled to remote areas on this vacation and Alberta and Saskatchewan have many gravel roads. I tried to mitigate my circumstances by buying a pump and a tire repair kit. Thankfully, I did not have to use it. Unfortunately, I believe that if I had a flat in one of my far away places that I visited roadside service would not be efficient. That’s my rant and in the future, I will try to choose a rental that has a spare tire if possible!

I contacted the rental agents to give my flight number and advise that the flight was delayed. I was told that if the flight number was there the agent would stay for a few minutes past closing. My flight arrived and I called the counter at 12:45 and again at 12:47am , before they closed at 1, and no one answered. No one was there for me to get my rental, then I had to pay for $100 uber when I was with my young child at 1:30am by the time the uber arrived. Then I called the next morning, the agent was extremely rude, told me the flight number wasn’t put in rental booking.

It was a seamless experience! The front desk experience went smoothly and quickly, the staff was attentive and helpful. I didn’t get the Chevy Malibu as I had hoped, but the car I got was even better: the 2026 VW Jetta GLI. It drove like a dream. No issues whatsoever. It was clean and smelled good. I was happy that there was an unlimited mileage option. Bringing it back went smoothly and quickly as well. Only thing was I was told at the front desk to keep my gas receipt to show I filled it up before dropping it off and the attendant in the lot said that wasn’t necessary. Besides that, everything went fine!
