Pros: Friendly helpful staff ready to provide assistance and guidance. Found the location in close proximity to the the airport and interstate. Dining was not the best in the vicinity of the hotel (not the hotels fault) but found the hotel's restaurant especially the breakfast to be exceptional. The breakfast wait staff were among the best I've experienced at a hotel restaurant.
Cons: The suites could use an upgrade/redecoration.

Pros: Staff was helpful and friendly! The room was clean and comfortable. The mattress was quite hard but the down comforter and pillows made up for it. The restaurant had friendly bartenders and good drinks. Didn't try the food but saw what others near us were ordering and it looked yummy. Overall we had a great hotel stay and I would go here again. Great value also!
Cons: Halls were smelly, no fridge

Pros: New so spotless, but located close to train tracks. And the trains come through overnight. We were there in February, and our fourth-floor room was overly warm. Had to turn on A/C! Our double room was smallish, but had a great river view. Staff is best feature -- courteous, solicitous and friendly. I called later about an item we left behind. They located it and helped arrange to ship it back to us. I would stay again.

Pros: Like most Embassy Suites, a very nice property, suites with plenty of room, great beds and bedding.
Cons: Very disappointed in a $10 daily charge for Wi-fi - even for Hilton Honors members (except the two highest levels). Considering other quality downtown Des Moines hotels priced similarly, but with free Wi-fi access, this is typically a difference-maker for us. Also annoying, if you miss the complimentary breakfast (finishes at 9 AM), you are charged $3 per cup of coffee -- again, unlike other similarly priced downtown Des Moines hotels. Not a deal-breaker, but still seems kind of ridiculous.

Pros: As always...the breakfast!
Cons: Forced valet that did not park vehicle in a covered garage but rather on a side street during a snow storm for a $25/night charge. I was told all about the city selling parking lot to private investor who is building a parking garage but that is not my problem. If you don't have acceptable parking options don't charge me a premium to park. Inadequate parking options just aren't acceptable and we'll look for another place to stay next time.

Cons: Cost: clearly had upped their rates because the bar exam was being offered in their building.

Pros: Close to Downtown Des Moines and the interstate. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, and everything was very clean. Our room had a great view of downtown.

Pros: The location was great, easy access from the interstate and very close to downtown. The staff was very friendly. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.

Cons: The bathroom was tiny and the room was very noisy. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had a steady stream of noise from the elevators and traffic on 235.

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff - both front desk and valet; helpful with directions and made a couple of good restaurant recommendations; Location convenient for an event my wife and I attended during our stay and the valet shuttle included at no additional cost was helpful. Nice breakfast offerings.
Cons: While I got lucky with a dynamite parking spot in front of the hotel for the weekend and didn't need to move my car, the notion of valet parking for $15 per night was distasteful (I know it can be much more in major coastal cities). Sunday morning breakfast should not end at 10 a.m. - it should run at least until 11.

Pros: The staff were nice
Cons: I asked to be placed by my self on and end, I was placed right by the office. I let that slide. I paid a 26.00 deposit to bring my dog with me, she is generally very quite; however, due to the non stop foot traffic all night, the lady screaming in the lobby, the tweakers all over the place trying to get into my car she barked at every noise most of the night. When I left I was covered with red bite marks down both of my legs. My dog and her blanket were also covered. I have to wash and use extreme heat to dry everything as well as having my dog bathed and her kennel cleaned. I was very disappointed in my experience at the specific Eccono Lodge. I will not be staying here again, ever.
