Pros: Good customer service. They were willing to change vehicles when the first one I had was accelerating too fast and was uncomfortable.
Cons: The second car was semi-clean on the outside...waterspots all over the windshield and mirrors. Had not been cleaned inside. Found Pop-Tarts and food wrappers. Line was 5 deep with only one counter clerk available to take care of customers.

Great car, mixed review on customer service
Pros: The brand new car I got from Budget & the drop-off procedure was great. Would highly recommend based on these two variables. In fact, the agent who checked me in upon returning my car was the very gentleman whose trainer from 4 days earlier was so very poor a communicator! He, fortunately did not learn this behavior from her.
Cons: The pickup procedure would have gone more smoothly had the woman who assisted me been more communicative. I understand she was training a new guy behind the counter, but each time she abruptly left my paperwork to go assist him, she never acknowledged the interruption! I travel a lot for work & have always found patience & kindness are my defaults when dealing with the ups & downs of travel - it doesn't always fix the problem, but it makes the entire experience more bearable. However, her inability or unwillingness to say a simple, Pardon me," before assisting her trainee began to really get under my skin as it added more & more time to my entire pickup experience. (I was only mildly irritated, but the rather lengthy line of customers waiting behind me for pickup was definitely more than annoyed but the time my transaction was completed.) To cap things off, her directions to my car were the complete opposite of where it was actually parked. Neither of these things are deal breakers, but kept me from giving strong marks across the board.

Fuel rip off
Pros: Nothing after attempted rip off.
Cons: Drove a Subaru Forester less than 18 miles. Filled tank and have receipt for .77 gallons. Gauge obviously read full when returned and I checked off "full" on contract. Agency added a $13.99 "FUEL SEVICE" charge to invoice.
How many other renters have they ripped off. Also happened to me in Grand Rapids by Avis once.
Contacted corporate and they promised to reverse the fee.
When I picked the car up it was covered with snow and wipers frozen to windshield.

Pros: Would not give me 4 wheel drive dangerous conditions wanted to charge more!
No way to reserve 4 wheel but I reserved a SUV I won't use kayak or budget for a car again

I rated the value for money 2 stars because of the pickup in DTW.
Pros: Drop-off was so close to the airport terminal!
Cons: I had never dropped a rental car off at Cherry Capitol airport and I wasn't sure what to do because there were no attendants in the drop-off lot.

Horrible customer service
Pros: The car had 4 wheels
Cons: The lady at the counter was pushy wanted paperwork signed with out an inspection stating that "our people looked over it"
After refusing to sign the paper saying there wasn't any damage on the car without lookingvatvitvshe got snippy wouldn't give me the keys told me I didn't get them till it was signed. ( car was locked couldn't get inside to inspect) after inspection I found plenty of damage (bigger than a quarter) and returned to let them know. Choosing a different lady because the fist one was rude she saw me in line An told me to come back to her I politely said nobill wait for another she got snippy again waving the keys saying I've got the keys. I then got mad An told her off. The manager over heard An asked what was going on I started to tell him as she stood behind home mocking me An talking over me. I then told him it's clear that she has no idea how to do customer service because if she did she wouldn't be acting the way she was.. worse rental experience
Cons: I booked an intermediate car listed as a Toyoto Corolla and received a Nisson Sentra listed as a compact. I called the manager at the Hertz desk the next day and was told they were comparable. Not convinced!! Also the exterior of the car was mud spattered when I got it. Should have addressed the issue at that time but was anxious to get to my 100 year old mother's and let it go.

Cons: I had a debit card and not a credit card so they would not rent to me but they kept my deposit. they put me in a jam they should have told me I needed a credit card. I needed to go from Traverse City Mi.to Grand Rapids DeVoss Children Hospital for my Daughters Cancer check up I was not very happy.

Great rental for travel to Chicago
Pros: This car was perfect for the trip: sporty, fuel-efficient and nimble. The Chicago traffic was no match for it! And the value of the rental made it even better.

Hertz does not take responsibility
Pros: Cars were satisfactory.
Cons: I was convinced to upgrade to a full-size car by the attendant after reserving an economy car. That was okay. But, mid-week I noticed the license expired during the week I had the car. I called to alert the Hertz dealership. The worker, Justin, said that was impossible - the computer program would never let that happen. Ah, but low and behold it did. Justin directed me to bring the car back and he would switch the car for another full-size car. I brought the car back in and was slated to receive a full-size but slightly smaller car. Justin offered to give me a bigger car with an additional fee. I explained I was not going to bicker over fees and Justin was able to give me a duplicate car. Here's the ticker - not once did he apologize. I had to make my way back to the airport during my vacation to exchange the car and no one ever said, "I am sorry. WE made a mistake." This was disappointing.

worst car ever
Cons: Tires bald as a cue ball. Suspension broken and this car was absolutly dangerous and Traverse City bluntly said take it or leave with nothing and I had to have a car. You need to send someone to look at this car. I reported it to the State police because you are going to kill somebody.

Couldn't pick up my car
Cons: I was not allowed to pick up my car because I used a company credit card that did not have my driver's license name on it. I understand that this is done in an attempt to prevent credit card fraud. But I should have received a warning about this somewhere. When I got to the stand I had make a new reservation under my personal card, and the representative wouldn't help me cancel my old reservation.
Pros: Loved the car. Staff was wonderful. Kept the car a day longer than planned, and they were good with that too. Will be going back there.

I felt scammed
Pros: Seemed straightforward with a notice the night before from Enterprise for my Lic# and Enterprise# to expedite the rental process - presumably affirming my confirmation made a couple weeks earlier.
Cons: I arrive 90 min after the 1pm registered time due to a flight delay and was told they rented my assigned car and had nothing they could give me since the few remaining cars were claimed. When I asked why they said it was "policy" to not hold a confirmation after 60 min. They said they called my cell - they did not as there was no missed call registered on my phone. With a big smile they said "sorry". They said Enterprise all around was out and I should call other rental car places. Clearly they rented my car to a walk in for a higher rate and blew my reservation away. The perfunctory and impassioned response was most irritating. I called customer service - same thing.

Great customer service
Pros: I forgot my tablet under the back seat and they called right away to let me know. Thanks for going above and beyond!
Cons: Since my sons vehicle broke down on his way home from college for Christmas we had to find a rental car so he could make the 6 hour journey back. We were quoted $37 online plus $18 insurance but had to pay $53 plus the $18 insurance for the extra charges that wasn't included in the quote. Since he is 21 we were charged extra and since I was paying for the car they had to add me as an additional driver which resulted with an additional charge (even though I wasn't driving it).

Pros: Car was the right size and comfort. We needed it. Drop off was easy. Location was perfect.
Cons: We arrived earlier that the reservation time and the rental desk would not give us a car. That made part of the group sit in the airport terminal for two hours. In the future we will check the pick up time carefully or if not acceptable will find another way to rent a car. The rating for the pickup/dropoff was downgraded due to this issue.
It was a pretty expensive rental at over $1100/week.
Cons: I didn't like that there wasn't an Avis representative on the receiving end. I just had to put my keys in a drop box and hope that they didn't charge me for any extras.

It's a compromise I guess, this reviews both locations
Pros: Car was new and clean
Cons: I reserved a full size sedan because I'm 6'8 and that's what fits, but got a mini SUV that was way too small. Also, it was a rav 4 with very annoying options and a console that dug into my right knee for the entire 7 hour drive.
Oh, and the cruise control didnt work
And the check engine light was on
And the fuel cap was missing, I assume that was the reason for the engine light.
None of these seemed to throw a flag when I mentioned it to their employees, but it was a cheap rental.....I guess they don't care too much about their vehicles, next time I'll have to make that 400 mile drive in second gear
