An unfriendly lady at the pickup desk tricked us into the insurance fraud. "Oh, I see that you're not insured." Yes we were (allianz), but I couldn't prove it at the time.Thrifty

Pros:
Return was easy enough. Car was clean when I got it.Cons:
Pick up was awful. Representative included insurance in price without asking or explaining coverage. When I questioned this, he was belligerent and threatening. Also gave terrible directions for finding parked car. Car was underpowered Hyundai, when I'd reserved an Opel or similar.Cicar

Cons:
Paid a security deposit on my credit card in Euros and it was held as a pending transaction in British pounds. On return of the car, the authorisation was cancelled. In doing so, and because the exchange rate had changed, I was charged £4.50. Hertz essentially made money out of a non-completed transaction. Car hire itself was fine. I was encouraged to upgrade the car as the 1 litre fiesta wouldn't be suitable for driving around the island - it was fine! It made it up to the cable car station on Teide so don't be fooled for a bigger car if you don't want it! There was only 2 of us in the car though! If you put 4 adults in that car then yes you may struggle.Avia Car
