Cons: Breakfast was not served until late (coffee at 8:15, food at 8:30). The room I was in (#6, I think) was stuffy and dark, and it was hard to get fresh air because the windows didn't open. No chairs to sit in. Room was expensive. Parking on street.

It's a very well done renovation of a former typical 50s motel into something much nicer - moving parking underground and creating a central fireplace patio. The location cannot be beat for Carmel. The beds were enormous and very comfortable. Loved the fireplaces and the giant TVs mounted above. Breakfast each morning was definitely light (continental style) but tasty and much appreciated!

Cons: We could hear a little bit of the TV of our neighbors below. Some rooms' bathrooms are much more recently renovated than others. We really enjoyed our stay the only negative experience was when the incredibly rude owner ??- a middle aged man who told his staff off (middle aged ladies) saying something like "if you do that again Im gonna break your neck"- this was a real warning. Men should not threaten their staff by making horrific comments like that- it really put me off. The staff seemed used to his way of communicating but I certainly did not find his rude comments amusing. Other than that- we enjoyed our stay in this wonderful B & B.

Cons: My room (#4) was dark, the ceiling was very low. Couch not comfortable to sit on so could not enjoy living room. The fireplace gave off a gas smell so was scared to turn it on. Room was very small for the price charged. Ad was a little confusing when I booked it. I thought I was getting two rooms and it turned out it was really a one bedroom with two beds but it was not advertised that way.

Cons: Lack of personnel - When I arrived, the front desk was vacant, but for a sign that said, "Will return in 15 minutes". After waiting 20 minutes, i called the number finally someone came. Room very small. Location is NOT "steps from Carmel Beach". It's about 9 blocks from the beach. That description is misleading. Air conditioning was not working, nor was the refrigerator. When checking out, once again, nobody at the front desk.

We did see one of the larger garden rooms with private patio that we loved. So next time we will book one of those. That looked great! Staff was awesome. Thanks for turning us on to Carmel Fog Lifter Coffee & LIttle Swiss Cafe for lunch. We will be coming back in the winter and booking one of the garden rooms. Our dog George had a wonderful time. He especially enjoyed the treats!

Pros: Lovely little hotel with very welcoming staff and the best granola for breakfast. Lots of character and in a great location, easy walk to the main shopping street but also very quiet. I really appreciated the little room fridge for drinks and snacks.
Cons: I was in one of the street rooms (not on the courtyard), whilst it had a lot of character there was not a lot of space, I struggled with my large suitcase and where to lay out toiletries etc

We did see one of the larger garden rooms with private patio that we loved. So next time we will book one of those. That looked great! Staff was awesome. Thanks for turning us on to Carmel Fog Lifter Coffee & LIttle Swiss Cafe for lunch. We will be coming back in the winter and booking one of the garden rooms. Our dog George had a wonderful time. He especially enjoyed the treats!

Pros: We were spending the week exploring Carmel and this was a very convenient and clean-looking hotel. We'd read some reviews about the missing cheese hour, etc. and scoffed at people being weird about their missing amenities; generally if a place is clean and pleasant, I don't think there is much else to comment on. But I have to say, it was a sore disappointment that we booked two King rooms for two couples (a deluxe and suite) and in the early, cold November morning, I reached for the bathrobe I'd read so much about (it was constantly in the advertising for the King suites that there are these great thick robes) and saw...there was none. In either King room. So I'm listing the amenities as OK because honestly, it was really chilly in our room and I think that when you book deluxe king suites, they should come with bathrobes if that is advertised everywhere and it's quite chilly. I got ready that morning in my husbands sweater and we left the next day.
