8.8 Excellent
Pros: The onsen by the river is so nice. It a imperial onsen with no added water to it. 100%
Cons: The onsen is only open to male 5-10am other time for female guest..... lol.
6.7 Good
Cons: Though the hot spring place was amazing, the room I stayed wasn’t very clean, there were spider webs at the corner of our room and the ceiling of the hot spring place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The baths are all top class, and the small rotenburo down close to the river is simply wonderful, close enough to feel surrounded by the sounds of the waterfalls and the local frogs while watching the water. And a very satisfying oil massage afterwards. 2 nights, both dinners superb, and although I've lived in Japan for 36 years the chef still surprised me with some new menu items that I've never experienced before!
Cons: The breakfast room atmosphere is a disappointment! No problem at all with the buffet breakfast, but the dining space is depressingly dark; the windows and wall panels on the window side were not open, and the guests were not allowed (so it seemed) to use those window-side tables. And inside that closed-off space the lighting was just not bright enough. It's MORNING, okay? So a bright, light cheerful space should be there for us to wake up in. Open it up, and turn up the lights!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is the best for everything.
Cons: Nothing much activity can do in Akiu.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff who helped check us in and orient us to our room was exceptional. He spoke fluent English so was able to explain everything to us with extra care and detail, including showing us how to properly tie our sachiko. He really was terrific! I regret that we weren't able to say goodbye to him the next day. Also, the buffet breakfast was a highlight from the entire Japan trip. I would definitely recommend treating yourself to this once in a lifetime experience.

Pros: Very historic buliding and very close to down town train station. Also there is a very close 24 HR supermarket after 3 mins walk. Very very friendly owner! Super reasonable price for stay.
Cons: Just maybe old water supply system that shower water is not very hot.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very welcoming and friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere and it was my first traditional Japanese Inn. The staff has good understanding of English and are happy to try to communicate in different languages, it was a great experience.
Cons: The walls to the rooms are a bit thin so noise from outside could be a problem, but most people didn't bother during bedtime.

Cons: There is not a thing that we dislike this place: NONE.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious japanese breakfast can be ordered the day before. Very nice and warm welcome
Cons: A bit complcated to find from the Bus stop.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice ryokan /youth hostel. The people are very friendly. The traditional japanese breakfast is changing every day and was delicious. Also there is a little patio/garden with a shrine. Everything is lovely done and the atmosphere is great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were extremely welcoming, friendly and hospitable and it was a pleasure to stay at Chitoseya Ryokan. The Ryokan is very comfortable and extremely clean; three of us friends shared a room and we had no issues at all. We were welcomed with tea and rice cakes in our room which was a lovely touch. The traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious and we would highly recommend it! The showers are great and I also took a hot bath which was a perfect end to the night :)

Pros: Great stay! I would recommend it without any hesitation!
Cons: Rien de particulier.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast staff were polite. Close to the station. Generally, reasonable value for money.
Cons: Reception staff were curt and impolite; it was really the most disappointing thing after a long journey to get to Sendai. I could put it down to a certain member of staff just having a bad day, but I had the same experience the next day with other members of the reception staff so I will assume that that is just the norm at this establishment (it is certainly not the norm in other Japanese establishments, business hotels or otherwise).

Cons: very small room, but ok.

Pros: The bath was really nice! Definitely the selling point for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely clean rooms and common areas of the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast start time is flexible and excellent value - really enjoyed it. Also enjoyed the matcha experience offered.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic and really went out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms were spotless with a pot of hot tea awaiting our arrival. We had tatami mats with bedding folded and ready, japanese robes to wear and free toiletries in our room and in the bathrooms. The shared baths and bathrooms were faultless, beautiful, clean and convenient. The breakfast offered was well worth the price including 7-8 different yummy dishes each which meant we walked away with full bellies ready to start our day. We had a beautiful time there and would definitely go back if given the chance. 5/5 stars :)
Cons: Everything about this place was wonderful. The location is about 2km away from Sendai station but there is a bus stop around the corner and a subway station about 500m away to get you there and everywhere else you need to go :)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s a beautiful classic ryokan with a lovely and caring staff. Room was spacious and the ryokan was very quiet.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the comfort of the room and the classy atmosphere of this Ryokan. Everything in my room and also the communal bathroom was very clean, staff made sure to clean around all the time. I could sleep very well on the futon and enjoyed a lot the green tea which was offered in the room as a complimentary offering. What stood out the most, was surely the breakfast. Breakfast was superb and traditionally Japanese. The onsen was very relaxing. Staff was friendly and very pampering, even though we couldn't have a conversation. Location is alright, but could have been a bit closer to the metro station. Nevertheless, you can easily reach the main nighttime/restaurant area after 15-20 minutes walking and it seemed quite alright.
Cons: Staff could not speak any English, but was very kind and accomodating, trying to make sure I get everything well by giving me English information they have printed out and laminated for foreign guests. Everything worked well, but it would have been great to communicate more! The onsen working times could have probably been a bit longer, but it was alright.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the onsen! And helpful staff providing an extra underlay for the futon.
