Pros: The location was absolutely brilliant. The hosts were so lovely and kindly let us stay in the lounge room until it was time to catch our bus, plus they made us feel so welcome, providing us with maps and fabulous restaurant suggestions. There are some wonderful small ideal places to eat with 300m of the accommodation which was perfect for us as I had a 10 year old and my 81 year old mum with me.

Cons: Not easily accessible for taxis and uber. Plan to walk a bit, which can be challenging with luggage. Wifi didn't work in some rooms. Rooms are accessed via staircases so be ready to cary luggage.

Pros: The room we reserved and got was very small. Had asked for twin beds and they were right next to each other with about 3 ft of space around the beds. Tight squeeze. Bathroom was also quite small with tub/shower combo. Asked to change rooms and the front desk was nice enough to accommodate us with a slightly bigger room the next day. One has to expect that some of the rooms in this former palace are going to be small and feel dated because of the period furniture. The armchair we had was a Louis VI style and would only hold a size 2 woman sitting straight up. Wallpaper and others furniture are also antiquated. All is clean and well maintained. Double sinks are close together. All high end bath fixtures and linens/towels. The common spaces are generous and beautiful since they are on the ground floor with very high ceilings. Service was excellent. Location is right behind the papal palace. Difficult to reach with a car because of the very narrow one way streets. A GPS is a must. Once there, which is really a block away, must get the porter to come and help you get off the street. It’s a two man job since the driver is blocking the street.

Cons: Dont worry about paying for the view of the Popes palace - you’ll be staring at a stone wall. Rooms smallish and shower adequate at best. You will haemorrhage €€ for anything extra - like breakfast, parking, drink at the bar. If you want to have dinner here book ahead.

Cons: Deluxe room is too small according to my standard. Access road to the hotel is very narrow and the GPS and Google Map doesn’t work. Please stick to a special map given by the hotel, print it out and navigate manually if you come by car.

Cons: Difficult to access by car and parking garages are not too close (not bad, though). We were upgraded to a suite which was really nice, but despite having an elevator, we still had to climb an additional 30 steps after we got off on our floor to reach it (with all our luggage, baby stroller, etc.). That was just for the suite, but most other rooms also require various numbers of extra steps despite being on the same "floor."

It is located in a street that is quiet enough for rest, yet very close to the Palace of the Popes and to the main commercial areas (a bit far from the train station, though). All staff members were very polite and helpful with all our requests, from restaurant recommendations to parking arrangements. There are power outlets everywhere one might need them in the room. The complimentary tea and coffee made us feel quite at home!

Pros: We wanted to see Avignon and booked something reasonably priced since we were only saying one night. It was last-minute booking so we weren't expecting too much, but this place was a gem! It is in a perfect location centrally, about a 5-10 minute walk to anything you could want to see in the city. The building itself is a stunning piece of history that makes you feel like you're staying in a castle. The view from our room was incredible, overlooking the Palais De Pepes, we had our window open both at night (when the castle is lit) and in the morning, we couldn't get enough of the view! The hosts were all more than accommodating, they were very friendly and helpful. They held our luggage until the afternoon so that we could explore on the day we checked out. Winner!

Cons: There were mosquitoes in the room (but the hotel staff provided repellents, so this was not much trouble). The shower stall is tiny and does not have doors, only a curtain, so we soaked the entire bathroom each time we took a shower. The (short) walk to the parking garage might be an inconvenience if you have lots of luggage, but it is possible to unload close to the hotel if you have a tiny car.

Cons: The only downside (if you could call it one) was that there is no elevator, so we stayed on the 3rd floor (which is really the 4th) and we had to carry our luggage up and down. But it would not be a deal breaker for us, the stay was worth it! Also, it can be hard to get to since it is in the middle of an ancient city, but get a taxi in and enjoy the central location!

Cons: There was no information about finding the property and the road closures on booking.com or the hotel website I arrived late in the night After maneuvering through the streets of the old city of Avignon fruitlessly I called the hotel who told me not to use the GPS! The night staff talked me through the route and I eventually found the hotel only to be told I had to park in a public parking garage The route the desk clerk gave me was wrong and I ended up once again lost in Avignon! I eventually found my own way to the parking (a large underground municipal car park which did not feel great to be wandering around in at 2am) and then walked to the hotel and collapsed into bed at 230 am! If I had known access and parking would be like this I would not have even entertained staying here. It look 1 and a half hours from arriving in Avignon to actually getting into my bed! A lot of sleep time to waste after 2 days of travelling I certainly won’t be back!

Cons: The location of the property is convenient but a bit seedy. In fact, Avignon itself is somewhat seedy compared to Aix or Arles. If you have a limited schedule I would skip Avignon and stay longer in Aix or Arles. The TGV train to Paris from here is convenient though.

Pros: Set in (or,in our case, in a modern block adjoining) a beautiful old building, just off the town’s main street and two minutes from the railway station, this hotel could hardly be better located. A walk to the main square takes maybe 10 minutes, to the Papal Palace maybe two minutes more. The pedestrian area starts 5 minutes away. Bars and restaurants start within a minute or so and there are two useful supermarkets on the main street. The room was spacious and comfortable. A large balcony promised to be a boon for summer visits. The modern bathroom only suffered from not including a permanent fitting for the shower head. The toilet was separate, off a small private lobby, but this wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was fine, with fresh bread and pastries replenished regularly, alongside a reasonable choice of cereals, cold meats and cheeses and hot dishes. All enjoyed in an airy chamber overlooking a central courtyard. Everything was clean and well tended.

Cons: My room at on the top floor which is usually a good thing except for the amount of money I was paying, I could not stand up in the shower to shower because the ceiling was there. I literally had to squat down to shower (I'm 5'11), so I'm not very tall. If I were 4 feet tall then it would have been ok. The sink and mirror for the bathroom were exactly the same issue. Could not stand up to see myself in the mirror. Had to be on my knees to look in the mirror. Also, since my room lacked any windows, the only natural light was from the skylights only a view of the sky through those. Horrible experience for the amount of money I paid for a "standard room"

Cons: There were a couple of things that disappointed; the secure parking is great but there was no staff to assist with luggage to San from the car. The room was very nice but no glasses for drinks and paper cups for coffee. The bar was advertised in the elevator, but it was closed.

Pros: The breakfast was lovely and the breakfast room was really nice - like being in an outside garden. I had a little food spill and the staff were very kind and helpful about it. The reception staff member was very friendly and outgoing when we arrived. The housekeeping staff were very cordial in the hallways. The location was really perfect.
Cons: The price was a little high - in my opinion - compared to similar places in France - however, Avignon lodging seems to be a little higher than some of the other places we have visited all over France for similar accommodations. Yes, the rooms are small, but that's NORMAL - not a negative.

Cons: Room was very hot and the air con did not work to provide cool air. We were told that this is because the system can only provide hot air in the winter and cool air in the summer, but it was 15 degrees when we stayed on 20 December, so we had to leave the windows open as it was so hot. We all suffered the worst night's sleep we have ever had, with mosquitoes biting all night, the sound of mice running in the celiing area. My son slept on the couch in the lounge to escape the mosquitoes which were in both bedrooms - very stange on 20th December, so we think they are coming in through the warm air ducts. The spiral staircase is not attached to the walls so creaks and moves around when you use it - feels very unsafe. Shower does not drain properly and leaks. We don't generally complain, but felt it necessary given the amount we paid for the suite and were offered no recompense. Really sorry but this goes down as one of our worst experiences in a hotel, even when we went very budget in developing countries when we were younger.

Cons: The room was comfortable for one but it might be kind of tight for two. The hotel is pet-friendly (good) but my next door neighbour's little dog was barking fairly continuously at 7:30 am (not so good). I was up anyway, so it wasn't really a problem for me, and I didn't experience any other issues with noise. This is not a criticism of the hotel, just a point to remember: Avignon has two train stations. If you come in on the TGV from Paris, you will want to get a train ticket that connects you to Gare d'Avignon Centre or taxi or Uber over to the hotel from the TGV station. Train may be cheaper.

Also not functioning properly, running toilet water, No place to put your things in the shower. Toilet is shared with the people who come for a drink. You can’t call a space off 1.40X1.50 with a microwave and small fridge a kitchen! Reception and bar dont have Doors to keep the cold out So it gets very chilly in the evening.

Would have been better to just pay someone to come in and serve the week day items. So not good for paper baged breakfast items.

Cons: Lots broken in the room: Shower, shelves, Air-con. Elevator was broken and we had a 4th floor room with a car full of stuff and a dog. Student block also means parties till early hours but no Air-con means window open and so couldnt sleep!

Cons: Room was very filthy. Blanket, bed sheets and towels were full of stains. It smelled bad. Bed was extremelly uncomfortable. There was a lot of mosquitos in the room. A lot of dust on the floor. Actually, the whole buillding was filthy. Also, we didn't feel safe in that neighbourhood.

Cons: Microwave would not heat up soup, not possible, stove top burners also would not heat a fly! Water in shower took overnight to drain, not enough light in hallway, stairway. Tiring to walk so far into city. Still good value for the money I guess. Close to train station.

Pros: The man behind reception gave me a big bottle of water to take upstairs with me which was nice. The bed was decent. Simple check out. Overall the room was spacious. You can come back late at night with a code for the front door.

Cons: There was no breakfast at all. The curtain was broken. There was no sheets and blankets at all. It was very cold in the room, there was no heating. The staff promised to improve all shortcomings, but without following action.

Cons: Noisy and dirty hotel. arriving on a tired trip, I couldn't sleep because the receptionists were having a party at the hotel and they made noise all night slamming doors and talking loudly. Going up and down stairs. The beds were dirty and the bathrooms poorly washed. I was afraid to sleep because I didn't know if anyone could enter the room because they were out of control. And they disrespected the quiet time, because it was already 3:00 am. It was a lodging for never again, my grade is zero 0.

They asked for cash and asked for additional cash for things ‘included’. Was able to sleep but tough to recommend for people seeking a safe and comfortable nights rest...

Cons: It's a little bit over a mile from the train station. The man at reception couldn't speak English. Checking in was a bit of a nightmare because you have to pay with CASH, despite the booking.com listing saying that it accepts cards. There were two kids shooting nerf guns at each other in the lobby while I was trying to sort this out, it was hot, I was tired carrying a big rucksack the whole way and I just wanted to go to my room. The man understood though and even gave me a lift in the car to the cashpoint so I could take money out, so that was very helpful.

Cons: The hotel equipment was old. We had a problem with the door lock. The bathroom had no door, but it looks like a closet. The staff doesn't speak English. We were charged a parking fee of 5 euros, although they advertised free parking.
