THE HOTEL Close to the heart of Zürich, at the foot of Üetliberg hill, Atlantis by Giardino offers the best of the urban and natural worlds. With views of lush forests and cityscapes, the 98-room hotel presents the ultimate in luxury combined with tranquility and Mediterranean hospitality. Guests can enjoy an indoor or outdoor pool, a sauna area, or dipiù cosmetics treatments in the spa. The Hide & Seek Restaurant offers fusion dishes with an Ayurvedic twist, and the Ecco restaurant serves up culinary magic by Rolf Fliegauf, following the concepts of his Michelin-starred restaurants in Ascona and St. Moritz. MADE BY ORIGINALS Daniela and Philippe Frutiger have a deep connection to the Giardino Hotel Group that stretches back to their chance encounter at the group’s first property in Ascona in 1994. Since then, the Frutigers have transformed the Swiss brand to include three hotels and a beauty and cosmetics line. Philippe comes from a culinary background and was educated in hotel management in his homeland of Switzerland, while Daniela is a trained beautician and pharmacist who handles the spa operations and interior design. ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN Resembling a traditional Alpine village, the property comprises a cluster of five chalets that are connected to one another. Although traditional in arrangement, the individual chalets are contemporary in style, and include guest rooms, suites, private residences, a restaurant, and lobby, bar, and lounge, with every window affording excellent views of the surrounding nature. Leathers, pelts, wools, and linens abound inside, forming a patchwork of natural textures, while many of the suites play host to oxidized steel art works by artist Paolo Albertelli, which subtly nod to the region’s tradition of paper cutting.
