Posh hotel yet informal and relaxed. Very pleasant staff throughout. Love the lounge and breakfast areas and the garden room. Breakfast itself was great. Very central location, yet peaceful due to the large grounds for a York city centre hotel.
No air-con in room. Not usually a problem but it was particularly warm and stuffy when we stayed this time. At busy times, the Garden Room needed tables clearing faster. Staff were good but too much to do for them to clear tables promptly as well.
Convenient for city centre. No problem parking. Hotel garden room was comfortable. Food was very good.
The accommodation, room 337, was noisy being adjacent to the railway station and suffered due to a permanent diesel engine sound all day and night. Closing the windows to reduce the sound resulted in the room being too hot and stuffy making sleep difficult, this was exacerbated by the mini-fridge which produced an annoying sound when it periodically on and off. The room was advertised as a "superior room". In our opinion it did not live up to this description being rather smaller than we expected. Access via the main entrance was via several steps, this was less than ideal for a disabled visitor.
Can’t fault this hotel , excellent room , beautifully furnished rooms and all areas of hotel . Excellent restaurant and staff couldn’t be more helpful . Very impressed , will be back
Bathroom very small and awkward and our room was in an annex which was a long way from reception
Excellent location, very friendly staff.
Bed and room was very small. Mattress was uncomfortable.
