10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very kind and helpful, the food (especially the fish caught in the lake) was some of the best I've ever had. The room was large and comfortable with a great view of the garden. The bath facilities were clean and a great temperature (very hot). Everything was explained to me including how to eat the dishes and how to get to different places - the next stop on my trip, the local sightseeing spots, cafes, etc., and thoughtfulness such as bringing out a coffee for me unprompted on the second morning when I had ordered one after breakfast the first morning. I really appreciated everything about my stay here and would recommend it. It is also in a great spot for walking around the perimeter of the lake (or cycling if you prefer to rent a bike) to see Mt Fuji. I did not take the staff up on the offer as I wanted to go on a long walk, but they did offer to drive me to the local spots which was above and beyond. I would say to stay here a few nights in a row just in case you are not there on a clear day, it will give you a better chance to see Mt Fuji properly. I would definitely recommend including the food (breakfast and dinner) in your booking especially if you love fish. I was also gifted some tasty oranges and a depiction of Mt Fuji as I left which was thoughtful as I had a long day of travel ahead of me.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent Japanese dinner and breakfast. Worth the value of money!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In this hotel, we had the best meal in Japan during our 15 days trip. The staff is more than excellent!!!! The bathroom is a traditional Japanese family bathroom but the toilet is in your room so the combination is very nice!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is the best in any hotels where I have stayed. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, pretty which overlooks a beautiful Japanese style garden. Their food is delicious, every dish was like a piece of art. The staff members are like family member to the guests, speak English, very friendly and warm. Overall I will surely go back there again and stay longer.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is 2 minutes walk from the bus station. The owner is super nice and helpful. Had dinner and breakfast and it was an amazing experience!!! Totally recommend having both for the full Japanese experience
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were the sweetest, amazing garden, nice room and an onsen for couples. Location is around the corner from the bus stop.
Cons: It’s a bit run down. The lobby, dining room, hallways were dated.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 2 nights with breakfast & dinners. The food were excellent and more than our expected. If you stay at this hotel, strongly recommend to book with meals. We will never forget these breakfasts & dinner with Kaiseki style. The owner Naokazu-San (Father), the wife and their son Youichi-san are very kind and hospitality. The garden is very nice.
Cons: The rooms are little bit old but clean, convenient and wider than others in Tokyo.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very nice, so quiet. All the food was amazing both breakfast and dinner, a lot of japanese dishes. Beautiful garden view from the room and from the restaurant area. As there are not a lot of rooms you can get truly japanese approach from the owners, they are super polite, eager to help and to show some places around. Easy access to many spots in that area like lakes or Fuji. If you want to see and experience real Japan come there, I definitely recommend!

7.9 Good
Pros: The staff are super friendly and accommodating, and offer advice for a schedule. The futons are very warm. The building has a nice outdoor view as well as rental bikes.
Cons: I found a big spider while closing the curtains. Parts of the place feel musky and old. It is also a little far from the big tourist attractions.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The perfect place to rest near Lake Yamanakako with an warm reception and to try the japanese style bedroom. The room is really comfortable, as well as the bed and the incredible bath. I truly recommend it!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice host and beautiful ryokan
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hosts where very nice and friandly, they assist us planning our visit at mount fugi aria and our way to the next location, the host made reservation for us and took us in his car to the bus station. In the ryokan there is a nice Hansen that we used and it was very nice. The have several bycecles which are free to use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This traditional Japanese ryokan was ideally located for Mount Fuji and the 5 Lakes areas. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and the accommodation was spacious and spotless. The optional breakfast was well worth paying for. An ideal place to stay.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host's were great, they went out of their way to help us find out about and even drove us to catch the bus that goes around the lake and back to FujiQ. Lovely people.
Cons: The pillows were very small and flat but this may be traditional?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very large and roomy. You will be sleeping on tatami mats and futons, so be aware of that before booking. The couple that runs the guest house is super friendly and helpful! The husband helped drive us to dinner our first night there since we arrived a bit late in the evening. They are super friendly and speak a little bit of English. The breakfast was available for an extra 800 yen, and it consisted of eggs, meat, a salad, and bread for toast. There was also coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, and carrot juice available for drinks. It was very much worth it; the dining area is very large and the food was very nicely made. The guest house is about a one-minute walk to Lake Yamanakako, and just a 10-20 minute walk to nearby restaurants. It was far enough away from the roads and other attractions that the evenings were very quiet and peaceful. The bathing facilities on-site are also very nice!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, the onsen was in operation (but we didn't use it). The breakfast was plentiful and delicious! The lady who runs the place is very kind and hospitable. Overall I liked it. Keep in mind that you'll be sleeping on futons, but you can double up if there are extras I suppose.
6.3 Good
Pros: Located near the lake. Breakfast
Cons: There was a ‘funny’ smell, specially in the first floor
7.9 Good
Pros: Able to wake up early and pop out to see Mt. Fuji in the distance. The tatami room and sleeping on the futon was surprisingly comfortable and I slept very well.
Cons: Arriving later and checking out the next day meant I didn’t have time to use the onsen. You simply can’t wash after 10pm, so arrive early to gain the full benefits. No air conditioning.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Having read the reviews on Yamanouchi, I really wanted to come here to stay in this delightful guesthouse. The other reason I wanted to come here was its close proximity to Mt Fuji. It really is! Like having this in your backyard, especially on a clear day. Hiroko-san, the woman that runs this place is an absolute delight and is always there for you. I liked the fact that she couldn’t speak English as I was able to have lovely little conversations in Japanese. She will provide breakfast at an additional charge of 700 yen which is fine. Mostly it’s a Japanese version of western food but on one morning, she presented me with an amazing Japanese breakfast. Wow. I loved my room. It’s traditional Japanese style with tatami mats. Very spacious and perfect for lounging around for those lazy moments. Each room has a wonderful view and these are well ventilated with sliding windows. The guesthouse itself is filled with delightful kitschy nick nacks and has a wonderful retro feel on it, right up to the sixties blue tiles in the bathrooms. The onsen downstairs is open from 4pm through to 10 pm. Perfect after an energetic day. You can have showers in the onsen space just up until 9 am. This place is well located, just moments away from the lake. And on a clear day, Fuji-san is right behind you. Yamanakako is a sweet little sleepy town and is perfect for a rest. It has a relaxed slow feel to it. There are a few restaurants specialising in houtou ほうとう which are soups with flat noodles with local mushrooms and vegetables.
Cons: The water for the showers in the morning is lukewarm.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast spread very delicious
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owners are absolutely charming and eventhough they don't speak English, they do everything possible to make you feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The authentic Japanese accommodation.. The host was so attentive to our needs and provided the renown Japanese hospitality experience. Although she spoke no English, she was able to communicate effectively throughout our stay A great view of Mt Fuji from the bedroom window
Cons: A more detailed description of the location would have been helpful. We ended up having to get assistance from a local
7.5 Good
Pros: It’s pretty near to Lake Yamanakako and the the view of Mt. Fuji just outside the guesthouse is breathtaking. Nice cozy Japanese style guesthouse. The care taker was good even though she can’t really speak much of English.
Cons: Payment was not clear upon booking that it has to be paid by cash.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: its was the 2nd time we checked into this gem near lake Yamanagako ,The 1st time was in 2017 and everything remained good especially the helpful smiling elderly lady who is one of the main reason for our return.
Cons: nothing!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was a little bit hard to get to, but it is SO worth it! The owner was one of the nicest hosts we've encountered in Japan, and that's REALLY saying a lot! The location was PERFECT to see Fuji-san, and the room was so spacious and clean! I can't wait to go back to Japan just to reserve this space again!
Cons: It's a bit difficult to get to the location, if you're not familiar with the area I suggest looking into it before leaving. Buses end around 4-5pm!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The view is spectacular, a 5 star view. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Basic hotel but perfect for a stopover en route.
Cons: Whilst I appreciated the Japanese style room the mattress was too thin and found it hard to sleep.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wake up at 4.15am to watch the sunrise and changing colours of Mt Fuji. Great lakeside view. Good for group stay, share bathroom is on different level as accommodation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay if in the area. I stayed here after climbing Mt. Fuji. The view out the window is amazing over the lake. Unfortunately, it was rainy, so I only got a glimpse of Mt. Fuji during my one night stay. Staff is great and speaks good English.
6.7 Good
Cons: No toilet in the room (even the family room type for 4 persons) , not even in the same floor. It is not stated in the description.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Owner is very nice welcoming person. Speak sufficient English and can give advice about what to do or where to go nearby. Spacious room with traditional tatami and Futon bed. We enjoy the stay.
Cons: Overall cleanness is acceptable, building and furniture a bit old. We have not seen air conditioning but was not needed in September.
7.1 Good
Pros: The view from the room is great and the land in front of the budget hostel is perfect for watching the sunrise on FUJI, the owner is helpful.
Cons: wifi is poor we had to use our phones, having to wear small pink slippers in the house, this place could get cold easily, not much to do nearby not easy to find food options. expensive for what you actually get, other options nearby were booked up.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, stunning location. We had the best view of Mount Fuji. The host was lovely and spoke English fluently. He let us in 1 hour prior to check in time as it was raining and made sure our room was ready. In our 3 weeks in Japan it was one of the nicest and cheapest rooms.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: First of all, a very friendly and helpful personnel. The rooms are a simple Japanese style with the most beautiful view of Mt. Fuji (Mt. Fuji was literally right in front of us). The place was quiet and situated in the heart of nature. Rooms were big, comfortable, with a balcony where you could sit and enjoy the view.
Cons: If you can, you should rent a car, otherwise everything is kind of far away from this place and using public transportation might not work for everyone.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: the location is very nice because directly can see Mount Fuji from the room.
Cons: I prefer toilet that have water, but the toilet in this property don’t.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel based on Japanese traditions. The property was run and maintained by husband and wife I guess. They are very friendly and particular about the maintenance of the place. The only issue which we had was the hotel was not very well known to lot of people so we need to carry luggage for about 1.5km. The place is next to Yamanakako village office which is the landmark for this property.
7.9 Good
Pros: they have not card payment option, or they are closed the are close the main door after 11 pm....but my booking time no condition

Pros: It's very good location, very near bus stop (1-2 min.walk) and very nice scenary ; The staffs were very friendly. The sceneries was very beautiful, lake Yamanakako and Fuji.mt.This property provided a lot of facilities; hot table (kotatsu), heater, in Japanese rooms style.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved it. Lovely people. Great first experience with a ryokan.
Cons: However off season there is not much to do nearby, but you can rent a bike for sightseeing or take the bus (30min) to kawaguchiko centre wich is very busy and offers many touristic activities
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A true Japanese guest house experience. So homely! The hosts were so warm, friendly and accommodating. They booked our bus for us to our next destination and even drove us to the bus stop in the heavy snow. They offer traditional robes and an onsen style bath. As three young women travelling we truly felt looked after.
Cons: The room was a little dusty, which I struggled with as I have allergies, my travel companions however were absolutely fine. This being said it was winter and difficult to give the room a really good spring clean, I also may have been affected by the beautiful cherry blossoms everywhere :')
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Owner and his wife are so nice and friendly. Feel like at home
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the place is very wonderful

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was delicious (Oishī)! Made with care with different variations every day. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was looked after, including going above and beyond with recommendations for food and activities in the area. They even offered to pick me up from a local bus stop however I had a hire car so was not required.
Cons: The room was a little noisy on my first night with some late people arriving.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, so yummy and fresh! The Staff is super nice and helpful. Great little bath, with times you can sign up for. Lots of open space outside.
Cons: The room is pretty plain, but if you're only there to sleep, it's all you need!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner made special Taxi transfer and didn`t bear the cost, also they made traveling recommendation which was very helpful.
7.1 Good
Pros: It was very quiet, totally in the forest. The host was kind and helpful.
Cons: Very old school. Breakfast is poor. No cabinet or shelf for clothes.
7.5 Good
Pros: The communal area is very good... they provide some games for families to get together and have a relaxing time.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff & owner were very nice. We booked the Holiday home which was very spacious and homey for a large group. Has dining area & kitchen where you can have a nice meal gathering :)
Cons: You have to wait for hot water to come out (there is a warning written in japanese though) 1st floor rooms can hear loud footsteps from upstairs (assuming your companions run around a lot)
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms were basic but clean. The service was outstanding. Our hosts made every effort to make us feel at home and accomodated our trips. The hostel has a kids lounge with playstation. The kids loved it and made friends there. The BBQ was really great! We loved the outside and the surroundings at this place are stunning. I don’t think there are better views of Mt. Fuji. It is somewhat off the beaten track but with some preparation it can be reached from Gotemba station or by bus from Tokyo.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were all together in one big log house.
Cons: Lack of cooking utensils.

Pros: everything was great , the privet hotel onsen espiecially :)
4.2 Okay
Pros: It was a very traditional Japanese experience
Cons: I asked for a room for 3, they gave me a room that held “4” with 2 floor mats smaller than twin beds. We stayed 2 nights for 32,000¥ ($320.00) shower was downstairs, public, and only open for use in the morning and evening, toilets are also downstairs and public. And the hotel is yen only so I had to search the area for an ATM. That last tidbit would have been nice to lean about on your booking website.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner is nice and helpful. Japanese-style room is clean and spacious. Since we were the only group of travelers staying there, we were glad we could privatize the toilet/bathroom/pantry. We didn't have problem with its location as we were driving. There is a big supermarket and hotspring spot nearby. Very happy overnight stay !

Pros: Traditional Japanese style rooms, friendly owner and good location. One can easily go for a walk next to the lake or for a quick hike.
Cons: It was really cold inside the room as the insulation of the windows is just horrible. Same story with the showers, one might as well just take a shower outside.

Pros: Great location near the bus station. Very kind owners. Comfortable rooms.
Cons: Shared bathroom facilities
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Had a very nice and cozy stay there. Staff were very friendly. Recommended.

He even help us transfer to the next hotel is KawaguchiKo area when we check out. The hotel location is super good. U can enjoy a very nice view of Fuji Mountain from the hotspring of hotel. And the other hotspring from hotel, you can enjoy a star view when dipp into hot water. I have a excellent stay in this hotel. Really recommended!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The view and the onsens, that’s where it stops.
Cons: The wifi dropped out as soon as you got to your room. The staff were not the most friendly They made you walk back down the hill, if you wanted to go to the water. The shuttle bus is only for when you check in and check out. I could get that view of Mt Fuji anywhere. If I could go back, I’d stay elsewhere Not much option for food, small portions but cost a lot. Pillows are hard but bed comfy
6.3 Good
Pros: Good views
Cons: Quite dated and over priced for what it is
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice friendly staff. Great views of lake and mnt fuji.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location and the Japanese restaurant was excellent.
Cons: The building is tired and run down. They charged for swimming
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It's a great place with a superb onsen. More tatoo policy in the onsen but adhesive skin coloured bandage tape fixed that.
Cons: A little bit remote, relying on a hotel shuttle bus each time to get to both the lake and the bus stop. Would have been an awesome view of Mt Fuji except covered in cloud for our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The views were amazing! Helpful staff that spoke English, helped us out with car rentals/bus schedules too! Shuttle bus that picks you up from the bus stop and takes you straight to the hotel!
Cons: While the views were amazing, it’s a bit difficult to get around if you don’t have a car. There’s a shuttle bus that takes you into town but it’s scheduled. The walk down from the hotel is a long, windy, steep road that would take up to 25-30 mins to walk down. The shuttle bus’ last pick up is 9pm and we only just made it, arriving into Yamanakako at 8:45pm. Definitely would recommend hiring a car for your stay here!
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff there a very friendly and diligent at there work. They are very quick on there feet and very understanding of my language.
Cons: There beds are not soft at all.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Open space public bath are the keys, which allows customer to take baths with the lake and mountain view. The room is old, but still ok and clean.
Cons: The attitude of frontdesk is not good. The one who helps me check in did not smile at all. Also, when he put the room cards on the desk, I thought he was giving me so I take them. But suddenly he took from my hands without any words. That irritates me. Bad attitude ruins a good, antique hotel. With the impoliteness, the price does not reflect the value.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were large and comfortable for two people. Views of Mount Fuji from the room and around hotel grounds was amazing. Lovely Onsen exactly as photos shown on booking page. Buffet meal was good in the evening which was booked when we arrived. Staff were very helpful
Cons: Paying for the swimming pool seems silly when you pay so much to stay. Onsen is included in cost. We used pool whilst waiting for our room at check in time. Without a car difficult to visit local areas but shuttle bus is very useful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are very friendly and offered great service. Offered free shuttle bus picking us up from a bus stop and take us to the lake side to see Mt Fuji. From our room window we can see Mt Fuji clearly. The hotel garden offers great view of MT Fuji. It is a wedding site and so with proper position, you can take great pictures of the Mt Fuji. The hotel is at the top of a mountain itself and so it offers clearer view of Fuji Mt than when you are at lower ground. It is great at sunrise.
Cons: The only issue we have is the first shuttle to the lake side is 8:45am. That is too late for us especially Mt Fuji was so clear and beautiful without cloud before 8:30pm today. When we got to the lake side by 8:50 am, it was already cloudy and so we missed the best photo opportunity. It will take an hour to walk down to the lake side by foot.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was conveniently located near Mount Fuji where I traveled to climb the mountain With great views of the mountain and gave me the connection to the mountain that I was looking for during my travels Simply awesome!
Cons: Dinners and food was not convenient and making a reservation for dinner was difficult at an earlier time. I had to eat later than I wanted.

Pros: Exceptional service. The room was clean and in a great location. It was a beautiful inn.
7.9 Good
Pros: We stayed here for 3 nights. September ends the season and many restaurants are closed. We didn't have a car. We used bus traffic. It is quite complicated and time consuming to see the sights around Kawaguchiko Lake.
Cons: There was a bad smell in the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location and staff were excellent. Sleeping in a Japanese traditional style was also fun to do and not as uncomfortable as I thought it might be
Cons: Shower facilities could be modernised a little but it was a bonus there was a private onsen on-site
6.7 Good

Pros: Many thanks to Mr. Watanabe, whose energy and service minded exceeded my expectations. the service right from when our car arrived till we checked out was excellent and very helpful. my booking also included the halfboard plan, both dinner and breakfast was good and the the package was reasonable priced. the hotel also has a Mount fuji viewing room on the 3rd floor. in addition, complementary coffee was available at the lobby.
Cons: nothing.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The surrounding area of the hotel is very nice, but this is due to mt Fuji...not to the hotel!!
Cons: Old environment, seems to go back in the 70's and 80's... In addition they should put lot more effort in the cleaning (which is abnormal in Japan, where I normally found the environment lot more cleaner).

Cons: The staff might be too hospitality, we actually hope for more personal space and time. But overall there was not much to complain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host of the property is wonderful. A lovely elegant little Japanese lady of great courage and enthusiasm. We loved her. The stay is very traditional Japanese and is a wonderful experience.
Cons: The pillows may have had a layer of crushed volcanic rock in them but I'm sure it was for our benefit.
7.9 Good
Pros: very quaint area, a little hard to find, its down a hidden street into the woods. we had to check in really late (around 11pm) and there was someone up to greet us. there were only to bath houses so it seems like it could get crowded (you lock the door when you use one) but it wasnt a problem at all. very easy check in and only a 20 minute drive from the main section of mt. fuji.
Cons: rooms were small and there were shared bathrooms for all of the guests. there was a language barrier BUT she was so helpful despite it.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice bath and very friendly hostess.
Cons: Wish the location was closer to the lake.
