We really enjoyed our stay at 7 Stages. It’s a Hostel so I expected fairly basic facilities but what we got was ideal. We had a double bed self contain unit that was spacious. It’s a really cool layout with a nice little courtyard, perfect place to chill out after a day of sightseeing. The hostel is in a good location within the city walls, close to a main entrance and in walking distance to the Muslin Quarter which was our favourite place for dinner. The staff are really friendly and helpful. When my partner’s luggage bag broke they directed us to the nearest repair store. I would stay here again.
The glass wall to the bathroom was a bit strange.
Good value room, good breakfast
Close to North Gate and Xian Railway Station, however away from the main touristy area (which is near south/east gates).
Helpful staff with good English. Excellent facilities such as laundry for just 10 yuan. Unique and authentic premises with courtyard garden. Nice restaurant with good food at a reasonable price. Comfortable beds with good air conditioning.
Bit far away from public transport. In between metro stations.
Outside of the room and design of the outdoor spaces were very beautiful!
We booked on the terracotta warrior tour and sadly it was a bit of a con. We were brought to a factory selling a range of terracotta warriors (which you could find everywhere in Xi'an for at least a third of the price!) We also experienced the worst lunch we have had in China! Which is a pity because China has some fantastic food! We were then taken to the terracotta site at the hottest and busiest part of the day with temperatures 43 degrees. There was lack of thought about the order of the tour. As the tour progressed it became clear that the tour guide had little enthusiasm for the tour and when probed deeper for more information she did know or attempt to find out the information required. Also the fact that we paid 450Rmb each for the full day tour it was not cheap or worth it! A complete disappointment. The tomb of the emperor which was advertised as part of the tour it turned out was a stop of on the motorway where a man made hill was pointed out to us and a two minute stop off was provided. This tour all in all did not offer value for money and left a sour taste in our mouths! The room was simply a mattress on the floor and no bed frame which was fine for the price. However the room needed some TLC for instance the bathroom door did not close properly which would have been a real problem if I had not been there with my partner! Lack of privacy!
