10.0 Excellent
Pros: we enjoyed every minute of our stay. bright and very clean rooms, great breakfast, close to the city centre! will definitely choose the place next time. thanks owners for the welcoming stay
7.1 Good
Pros: Very homey. A villa turned in to a guest house. Had my own balcony overlooking yard, though it was too cold to take care of. Staff very friendly. Told her I wanted to eat at 7 and breakfast was prompt.
Cons: There is one Steckdose for hairdryer/razor above the sink. I have a laptop, a cell phone, and above all a CPAP machine to plug-in. They really must change this. I couldn't even get to the plug to unplug the light. The room was cold, and the heating wasn't yet turned on for the winter. The place is far from the train station. Expect to pay 30 euro round-trip. The price-worthiness of the room is lost.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place to stay in Weimar, the room was spacious with separate full toilet and shower. The hosts were very friendly.
Cons: The location was slightly remote, you need to walk some 10 minutes to the nearest bus station or walk through the graveyards in the adjacent park, which is not very nice during night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful heritage building, room #2 with balcony, comfortable bed and lovely friendly hosts. The residence is only a short walk to Weimar central. I can highly recommend this residence Grant - Australia
Familienhotel Weimar - Weimar - Building
2
9.1 Excellent (397 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Familienhotel Weimar in Weimar, you'll be just steps from Goethe House and Goethe National Museum. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had unit 31 on the top floor with two bedrooms; it was so great to have so much room to spread out after a few weeks of smaller hotel rooms. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions to things and pre-booking an early taxi for us on check-out day. The place was absolutely spotlessly clean and the kitchen well equipped. It's located within easy walking distance of most of the historical sights within Weimar, but it is a taxi or bus ride to the train station.
Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the top floor #31 apartment with a balcony facing the courtyard and underneath the public terrace. There were two bedrooms, we slept in the double-bed and it was extremely quiet and restful. The space is tastefully decorated and has all the conveniences needed. The location is perfect, as it's just steps from the main market square, but situated in a quiet alley away from the main tourist throngs. The staff was very kind and helpful, and the parking also was very convenient. We will definitely stay here again and look forward to our next visit!
7.1 Good
Pros: The location was excellent and the room was nicely decorated.
Cons: The access was tricky, and it would have been useful to have the details about where to park in English before we arrived.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff (Ali was of great help with good tips), very good food, the chef is top! Rooftop terrace was a big extra. A home away from home.
Cons: Early morning bouncing kids in the apartment above us.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: location is perfect. staffs are very nice
8.8 Excellent
Pros: In the middle of the city. You can walk to theater square in a few minutes. Nice design.
Cons: Nothing, really.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is located in the center of the city in a very romantic alley. Although it is a modern building, it’s surrounded by trees and historical sites. I was upgraded to a spacious apartment, which was very tastefully furnished. A balcony facing the courtyard was one of the more impressive aspects. The bathroom was large enough and very clean. Thought had been put into small details everywhere. From the color of towels to making plugs safe for children. Very good value for money, I will definitely go back, should I travel to Weimar again.
Cons: Hot water ran out.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very central, next to Goethe's house/museum. In a tiny quiet street. Very friendly staff, children friendly interiors.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: All very calm & vomfortable
Cons: Outsidevlookef a bit scruffy
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in the very center of the city, close to all sightseeing sites. The breakfast is very good and provides many different things. A car park is available at the back of the hotel.
Cons: No one was in the hotel for check-in. A code is provided to get the key (through e-mail and call on my mobile). It works well but is unpersonal. The staff for breakfast or for check out is just professional. The hotel is lacking a bit of 'humanity'.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really great location in the centre! Our room (100) was spacious, clean, very comfortable and with a great view on Frauenplanplatz! Breakfast very nice on terrace and with very friendly staff.
Cons: Parking was promised on site, but was not available. This should have been communicated, after a long drive you don't like the parking troubles, especially when one chooses a hotel for their parking spots. Reception welcome was not sympathetic. Some people might have problems with street noise, we didn't mind. No elevator.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great breakfast included, great location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is our second time here, and we still found this hotel exceptionally worth staying. The location is perfect (just half-minute walk from the Goethe Residence and one-minute walk from the Schiller Residence). The room is well-decorated, comfortable and specious. Moreover, the staffs are friendly and helpful. Overall, this may be one of the best hotels I've even stayed!
Cons: No elevator. But the staff did offer to help us with the suitcases, so it won't be too bothering.

Pros: All was great. Nice corner room. Spacious. Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: For us, with a VW Golf, the parking space was perfect. For larger cars, pay attention to the size requirements on their site. Even tho check- in may sound complicated, it’s not. A quick phone call at 4:00 got us clear directions for entry and parking.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, comfortable
Cons: Should have curtains that block out light more, appalling pillows, no extra blankets (one night was chilly)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Park garage, good bathroom
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast room has a very nice atmosphere. The hotel is located right in the centre, a very convenient basecamp. There is a parking available onsite, albeit with a tricky lift system. The whole interior design is colourful, clean, and has a very good eye for detail.
Cons: There is no elevator. The head pilow is very soft and small. Reading in bed is therefore unpleasant, you cannot stuf it in your back.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice place in the center of the town. Room is comfortable with good bedsand a good shower. Breakfast is great. No complaints at all for the room, place and comfort
Cons: There is nobody there at person. They help you on the telefoon to come in and get your room key, but it would be more nice if there was somebody in real life ...

Pros: Location is great. Hotel is very nice and beautiful but we were in an annex building. In the main hotel you have a beautiful terrace and library. Staff is really very nice. Breakfast was good.
Cons: The annex is really different than the main building! Outside and entrance look ugly, but the apartment was nice and comfortable. There is no elevator but staff took luggage which was very friendly.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location of the hotel.
Cons: Lack of modernity. Very warm room, without conditioning. No fridge.Poorly maintained sturing our stay. Many extra's (extra charges for the parking space at the courtyard, for a cappuccino at breakfast, for city taxes...).Above all.(much) too expensive for the quality offered).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stylish, boutique hotel.
Cons: Our room was from the street side. Too noisy when with open window.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommended and a charming host
Cons: The shower could have been I little better
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good; Personnel was very friendly and attentive; Room was quite large. The hotel, including the room and bathroom, is very clean. Good beds.
Cons: We were there on Monday and Tuesday, when the reception and restaurant were closed. If you are staying on the front side as we did you can hear the highway. Although it is not really loud it is different from the silence you would expect when staying in the countryside.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in a lovely single room. All facilities were well equipped and very comfortable. Especially I loved the owners. They both took a very good care of their guests! Breakfast was very satisfying with great kinds of fresh food. Their home-made jam is super great :) Very nice hotel to stay for your trip!
Cons: I stayed there for my trip to Weimar by myself without a car. The location is not very recommendable if you are traveling by public transportation especially during the weekend. There is a bus connecting Weimar downtown and the small village the hotel is located not very often. But if you are traveling by car, the location would not be any problem! There is also a supermarket at 2 km.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: clean
Cons: No ability to speak English
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable quiet hotel, the host was very friendly and really tried to communicate with us which was appreciated ( unfortunately we don’t speak German). Good breakfast.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast was very good and we offered freshly scrambled egg if required.
Cons: There was nowhere to get a meal in the village which ensured that you could not have a drink with your meal as you would need to drive back from Weimar or thereabout.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was very average. Nothing cooked, apart from a boiled egg. Location was a small village about 6 km outside of Weimar but very good for the motorway. There was nothing else in the area for evenings, so one is forced to go into Weimar.
Cons: It is a pure B and B guest house. Their website proclaimed restaurant and bar, which was why we chose it - not wanting to go out again after the long drive over. However, neither was available. They had both been closed some time due to lack of business and were not being opened again. Parking spaces are also very limited in this very small village.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Comfortable beds.
Cons: Bathroom equipment needs some upgrading.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!! Spa, restaurant awesome!!
Cons: The pillow
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We used the hotel as a stopover for a long journey through Europe. We were concerned, initially about the location as the area is not particularly scenic, but on arrival, it felt like an oasis with a beautiful drive of sunflowers and a lovely ,peaceful garden overlooking vineyards. It was very hot during our stay and the outdoor restaurant was perfect. The sauna in our room was an added luxury!
Cons: The car park wraps around the hotel,so pretty much all the rooms looked out onto it.This was noisy with cars coming and going and people chatting and shouting. We also had a very noisy delivery around 7am right under our window. We had to have our windows open as it was a very hot night. For such a large hotel with large car park-the €4 car park charge just seemed unnecessarily greedy!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location, close to the city center but quiet. Also, the staff was very helpful & friendly.
Cons: It was the hottest day of the year & as is true with most smaller German hotels there was no air conditioning.
7.9 Good
Cons: the offer of food at the restaurant

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is really friendly. The location is awesome: very near the Town Centre. The Wifi is stable and fast. They are kind to provide a large bottle of water which saves my life during the heat...
Cons: I did know that leaving my luggage in the place after checking out is impossible (because the place is actually a bar which opens only in the evening.) The price is a bit higher than my expectation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. Even though I booked a room with external bathroom, there was a sink in my room and my outside bathroom was just for my use with my own key. The level of privacy was very good. The whole pension is super clean. A bottle of water set on my table was very welcome as I arrived very late and there were no shops open close to midnight.
Cons: The only problem was isolated noise. One late night, 2am there were some people talking loudly outside my window and one morning before 8am, very loud sounds of either garbage collection or the Cafe next door setting up outdoor furnishing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location and large rooms. Own toilet and wc on corridor. Good bar at downstairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an extraordinary hotel it has a cuban bar! If you like rum and a good ambiance then stay here. The rooms are not luxuary but comfortable all you need. The hotel is in the towncentre.

Pros: Really friendly staff who made us feel welcome and comfortable. We had a great time drinking in the bar downstairs too.
Cons: Check in is quite late at 4.45pm.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, incredibly clean and rather spacious room, good Wi-Fi, overall a nice place to stay for a couple of nights if you’re travelling on a budget and don’t have a lot of luggage. Many good places to eat nearby, the central station is a 20-minute walk away, all the historical landmarks and museums are close by.
Cons: It’s the center of the city, so it’s never very quiet outside, but that can’t be helped for obvious reasons.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was nice and quiet. Comfortable beds. Old-fashioned style but charming
Cons: The bathroom run out of toilet paper and we didn’t find anyone to ask for more

Weimar city centre with its Market Square, Deutsches Nationaltheater Theatre is just a 15-minute walk from Pension Villa Gisela. Schwanseebad outdoor swimming pool can be reached in 5 minutes by car. The A4 motorway is only a 7-minute drive from the accommodation and Weimar Main Train Station is a 7-minute car journey away.

Pros: Location!
Cons: Outdated and old fashion furnishing. Hotel needs to be modernized and updated badly to the standards of 2019!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole staff is really professional, friendly, and customer oriented. Great location between downtown and the beautiful Goethepark. Excellent restaurant. Clean room. We definitely will come back and we are convinced that the Dorint would have been Goethe's choice as well.
Cons: Well, we didn't like not having been able to stay a little bit longer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Room with 2 beds were too small (short for a guy 6’2”!!
7.1 Good
Pros: It was close to Weimar’s old town and close to a bakery we loved called Brotklappe (it’s not a chain bakery like you see commonly in Germany). The room was spacious, had an armchair if you didn’t want to sit on the bed when not sleeping, and the bathroom was roomy too.
Cons: It was a business-like hotel, so it was rather bland. This was the most expensive hotel we’ve stayed in throughout our travels in Germany but perhaps not the best value for money. However did provide what it said it would provide. Parking was expensive but it’s the same throughout Weimar anyway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location & breakfast
7.1 Good
Pros: the bed was not comfortly, the pillow too small and when you go to bed at 1 a.m., you barely ask for room service (in Germany), another pillow at the room would have been helpful

9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is located opposite to the train station. I arrived at 9pm and was so tired by the long train journey. I stepped out of the train station and saw it immediately. It was so glad that I could go to my room without walking a long distance to the hotel. The breakfast was good. The staffs were all very nice. The old town is within 10 minutes walk. Especially I could get to the Bauhaus Museum in 5 minutes. It was very convenient.
Cons: The WiFi is unstable. I had to connect the WiFi all the time. After taking the elevator, there were still some steps before reaching my room. I had to drag my suitcase to go up some steps.
6.8 Good
Pros: The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is excellent... right across from the railway station and a short walk to the center of town.
Cons: Mostly it was the attitude of the front desk staff. Not only not helpful but borderline antagonistic. The wifi did not work in our room. We reported it immediately. "What do you want me to do... the wifi is working for everyone else". Same story next morning, so on the third night requested a change of rooms, on a different floor, which solved the issue immediately. We arrived at 9pm after a long journey. The restaurant is open until 10 we were told... when we came down for dinner :sorry the cook went home early... no food available. We talked to someone who had stayed at the hotel in the past and they mentioned that this is a frequent situation at the hotel. The bar is a smoking bar, so no chance to enjoy a nightcap.... Thus not even close to the excellent rating we expected....
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Although the value standard room was small we were comfortable. The location opposite the main station was so easy but still a quiet and safe location. Ten minute walk to the centre of town. Great breakfast and we ate well in the evenings too in the hotel restaurant, Friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic staff that helped us with all our needs! We weren't planning to go to Weimar but we're so glad we did because of them!
Cons: A little far away from the center of town and we didn't get the total lay of the land in terms of shuttles.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good locality – hotel is near central railway station.
Cons: I hate hair after previous guests in the bathroom.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: An updated fin de siecle hotel with an impressive pedigree, conveniently located opposite the main train station of Weimar. The town centre is within walking distance. The hotel rooms are comfortable and clean, with good bathrooms. Breakfast is lovely, we couldn't get enough of the Bircher Müsli! We had dinner at the hotel twice; the food was tasty, well prepared and reasonably priced. Staff at the reception desk is helpful and obliging. It is easy to explore the surrounding area; we made a few trips by train to nearby Erfurt.
Cons: Can't think of anything to complain about.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms kept very clean and sheets changed regularly. Very close to the station.
Cons: Hotel food was expensive and poor quality compared to local restaurants.

Pros: All was fine. The breakfast was fabulous!
Cons: My room faced the side street with Subway shop and the Hotel's verandah on it. In the evening and at night people sitting there produced a lot of noise, so I had to keep my window shut.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed was firm and comfortable. Shower was hot and stayed hot.
Cons: Clerk at check in seemed bothered by something- almost like my checking I was annoying her. The parking lot was full ( it is very small) her solution was just go find a spot in the neighborhood. Not a good suggestion to someone who had been driving all day.
6.3 Good
Pros: A good hotel in a nice section of Weimar, but nothing especially memorable. However, in fairness we had just arrived from an all night flight from the U.S and so being tired may bias my opinion .
Cons: The room comfort was very disappointing and especially the A/C. The room was about 85 all night, and the repsonse from reception was that "you Americans had different expectations for air conditioning than we Germans." We were't looking for freezing cold, just cool off the room so we can sleep
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located across the street from a park. Usually the outside parking lot was full but we found parking easily on the street. The breakfast was fantastic. The bed was the best. So comfortable.
Cons: The day after we arrived the patio furniture was put away. LOL we live in Canada!
7.9 Good
Cons: Parking is extremely difficult.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room. Great location
Cons: Wish it would have been a little less expensive
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, good facilities. Excellent restaurant for dinner too!
Cons: I found the breakfast rather limited in its options, considering the overall price and that the breakfast had an extra charge.
