Pros: Beautifully unique home. The owners are an architect and an artist. The hosts are wonderful people. They couldn't be nicer. Lovely and clean. Hot croissants got us started in the morning. Although there were other guests, we didn't hear a single one of them. Lovely terrace. One block from main Street/waterfront. Very short walk (not even 5 minutes) to the Viking Triangle.

Pros: The breakfast was very good. The location was great.
Cons: When I booked I asked for a quiet room away from the lifts and not overlooking the street. I was given the opposite. Without much of an apology, the room was reluctantly changed. The first night in the supposedly quieter room was okay but the second night was really noisy. Neither of us slept well and when I complained in the morning, I was told that they would get the maintenance team to check if there were any problems in the rooms above. It did not sound like a maintenance issue to me but very bad sound insulation with people walking around, having showers very late and running some sort of fan or something. I was quite taken aback by the staff's handling of this complaint. I was also very disappointed that I was too tired to visit the places in Waterford I had planned to that morning as we were leaving in the afternoon. Maybe I had high expectations because I stayed in a hotel in Cork before going to Waterford and the standard was higher generally and it was cheaper.

Cons: The front door was locked when we arrived at 18:30 even though we emailed we’d be there “early evening.” It took several minutes’ ringing/knocking and an email to get someone (the manager, we assumed) to open the door. He was extremely rude, really the only rude person we met in Ireland. We didn’t see the manager again, but did briefly glimpse one other hotel employee during our one night stay. Left the keys in the foyer as requested when we left. The kitchen and dining room were closed for repair.

Cons: Due to GPS issues we didn’t arrive until 8pm. The gentleman that checked is in wasn’t friendly at all and seemed put-out, even though we had advised the approx arrival time. We ask for recommendations for a restaurant and was told that they can’t do that. He gave us names of the restaurants but that was about it. The room we had was on the 3rd floor. The steps are equivalent to a large spiral staircase so there was double the amount of steps (at least it seemed that way) and they were small steps. The room was nice but no air and none of the windows would open so we slept with no covers all night. Fans should be placed in the rooms for guests to use. It is close but I would stay somewhere else next time.

Cons: I booked a king room and got a double. They sent an email to confirm our arrival time (which noted reservation for a king room) and we were never notified there would be a room change nor given the option to cancel our reservation. There were no top sheets on the bed, just the bottom mattress sheet and a comforter. The manager left town and only gave us a contact phone number if needed. The fire alarm from another room went off in the middle of the night and we were told that sometimes happens when someone uses the hotel supplied water kettle in their room. Additionally, we could hear the other room’s TV and the people above us walking late at night. All in all, it was very disappointing and we got a terrible night’s sleep.

Cons: As per the usual with hotels at that level in Ireland, I wish there was an air conditioner. The hotel provided a fan only by request and it was faulty (we made do, but I wish we didn't have to). Also, light bed sheets had to be requested specifically - with the hotter summers Ireland is experiencing, I'd expect hotels to have these available in the room.

Pros: My wife and I stayed one night at the Fitzwilton. We really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was very helpful and our room was great. Unfortunately, the one night we stayed there, the restaurant was not open, but there were lots of great restaurants within walking distance. We definitely plan on coming back to Waterford and when we do, we'll probably stay at the Fitzwilton again.

Pros: My wife and I stayed one night at the Fitzwilton. We really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was very helpful and our room was great. Unfortunately, the one night we stayed there, the restaurant was not open, but there were lots of great restaurants within walking distance. We definitely plan on coming back to Waterford and when we do, we'll probably stay at the Fitzwilton again.
Cons: The parking was pretty rough. I circled through the "parking garage" three times before I finally realized that I was just going to have to cram my car into a space. Glad I got there when I did, because if we had showed up much later, we would have been out of luck.

The hotel is under renovation and it’s understandable that certain aspects haven’t been completed but the work seems to have been done very hastily, you can see where attention to detail has been missed. The view from bedroom window was not pleasant and a lot of noise from units outside on roof. First floor. WiFi signal in rooms poor.

Cons: The hotel services large tour groups, which is fine with me. I met some fun people from the tour groups, but it made their in-house breakfast hours irregular. Sometimes the pub would be open for breakfast, some times not. The big buffet breakfast room was open for tours, and you could pay to eat there, though I never did. However, if the tour had a very early start, and you weren't up for their early breakfast you were out of luck.

Cons: My only negative was the pool. We didn't arrive til almost 7pm and had to leave early the next morning. Children are not allowed in the pool after 7.30pm. Pool was practically empty bar two other people and they were using the lanes. Would've liked the children to be able to stay in til 8pm. My daughter was 9 so had to use the changing room by herself as she was in the pool with her older brother and father. When I (mother) asked if I could sit on one of the chairs by the pool to wait until they were finished so I could bring her in to the changing room, I was refused. No one else used those chairs while they were in the pool. Staff not very helpful at all. I did return 20 minutes later as there was no way she was going in to that changing room by herself. Not very family friendly. Any other hotel we've ever stayed in, this was never an issue.

Pros: Room was a good size. McDonalds is next door, which was good for a quick, cheap breakfast. Close in to city area good to access.
Cons: The carpet through the corridors needs replacing. Smelt mouldy and was difficult to drag suitcases over uneven buckled carpet. Also numerous narrow, heavy doors made it difficult.

Pros: The staff was absolutely fantastic and so friendly! Answered all my questions, check-in was a breeze. Printed some documents for me, totally fab!
Cons: The room and facilities were pretty filthy. Hall smelled of smoke. Mold in the bathroom, faucet was broken. Questionable stains on the bedspread.

Cons: Room was filthy smoke burns on carpet smashed frame dirty cups sour milk spiders filthy mattress I have a rash on my back that has me up now bed bugs has to be carpet is rotten omg im so angry did now she all tis till the next morning as I just rushed in and left bag there came back late that night women staff that was on that night came and shouted at uses for letting room door slam bye accident u should put some save locked on the door it uses don’t won’t that to happen could not lock in side the door that night as no lock working from inside door really disappointed man that was there that day was lovey but the night staff the women. Think she need more training how to speak to her paying guest

Pros: Dirty carpet leak in bathroom, rotten door frame, young peaple sat outside the room on pinic table early evening singing a song about f......ing your sister.Came back ai 1am and had an arguement. Wifi would not work For 200 hnz dollars rip off
