Building was very modern looking
Could not locate the stairs, elevator was the only way I found of getting up to my room
- Breakfast in our room was top class. - Location is great. - Staff are helpful. Nothing was a problem.
- Limited number of onsite parking space. Though public parking is nearby. - Our room was not cleaned on one particular day.
Clean and local
Weird buzzing sound in the bedroom and the room was extremely warm windows didn’t open wide enough
Clean hotel, nice staff
Lack of air con, room was only ventilated by a small window. Original double bed room had a very small double bed that was quite small and didn’t fit the bed base. Lift broke down during our stay and we were trapped for a small period of time. However in both instances the staff were responsive and helpful!
The bedrooms were fine, but the whole experience of staying at the FitzWilton was marred by the dreadful dinner we had.
The dinner we had on our first night at the hotel was very poor with the stuffed turkey breast which two of our number ordered being really dreadful. The sauce/gravy was extremely thick, the stuffing not as described and the vegetables looked as if they had been cooked days before. We only ate in the hotel as it was raining heavily and we regretted it. The waitress was good but she shouldn't have been made to serve such food. The service in the bar was also very poor. We had to return one cocktail as it was flung together. Gin and tonic was served with no lemon or lime, the cocktail menu was dirty, no coasters were provided so the table became wet. The bar was totally understaffed with one poor young woman serving food, drinks, bills etc to a busy bar. It was a bank holiday weekend but a hotel should still provide a better service.
