Sura Inn Ubud

The staff at iPong Cafe (belong to property) were very friendly and helpful when asked. The location was great as it was at a quieter end of touristy Ubud and 2mins walk from our Course's venue, and 8 mins walk from a very nice local Rumah Makan warung. The room we were given is a twin room in the inside corner of the building so it was quieter (as requested).

The bedroom, although was clean, the decorative cushions were not laundered and smelled a bit.. so we had to request it to be taken away. The pillows were old and too soft also. The bed sheets were old-ish and riddled with scratchy lint, and the blankets are polar fleece instead of duvets/comforters.. the aircon probably needs servicing as it is making the room more moist/humid than when it is not turned on... The bathroom amenities (small generic white soap and one toothbrush) are lacking, and the sink has slow drainage. The stairs to the level 2 rooms are high steps, so if u have pieces of luggage, you will need the staff to help bring it up/ down. Alot of the boutique properties in Bali do not have lifts; do note if you have mobility issues.

The staff were very attentive and tries their best to accomodate our requests (open breakfast at 7.30am instead of 8am, remove smelly cushions and give us more pillows). Location is fantastic as we were attending a training next door. And it is close to a few good restaurants. Overall acceptable purely from these two points.

The room was humid and damp unfortunately could be due to the forested area that Ubud is. (The air-conditioning could have been less dated & with a "dry" option like the new ones. I guess an upgrade is needed?) Although very clean room...The sheets were a bit scratchy and old. Pillows too soft and flat and the decorative cushion was reeking a little which i asked them to remove fr our room. Still uses old school furry blankets instead of duvets. Bathroom is a little odd as its is glass panel instead of walled. Additionally... The hotel's neighbor is a mirror image of sura inn and we found that it is half the room per day charge (just without breakfast) instead for the samw configuration and they actually look more updated. Upon payment we were alao charged an extra 3% on top of the total charges due to credit card admin fees they would not absorb.
