Cozy, basic room
When we arrived they weren't expecting us. Turn out Citrus Tree is a big network of places, and I think the reviews we read beforehand were for a different Citrus Tree nearby. At any rate, after finding the manager, and some phone calls, we were told he had tried to not have reservations this month, but the network schedules us anyway--we could stay. The room was a big, quiet bedroom with a nice porch facing gardens in the back of the tiny plot. Cute, busy street, very cheap 3-hr laundry next door. Good screens on the window. No top sheet on bed (but we used our light weight sleeping bags.) hot water in the shower! Good breakfast choices brought to our porch. Lots of quiet, and so close to the hustle in Ubud. Ubud is not quiet anymore, it's a busy touristy place but still has great food and a local atmosphere, especially walking out of tourist streets.
I liked this place a lot, but not the bathroom. Not that it was dirty, but very basic. No hot water on the sink. I rigged a towel to cover the window that faced another house out the back. There were more modern apartments in the small complex, maybe those were nicer? So for realistic expectations, just think basic. Very basic.
